Can someone recommend violent, relentless, albeit well-produced black metal that is at the same time dynamic and agressive?

I want stuff that is primarily based on plethora of interchangeable RIFFS, rhythmic and melodic variation and relies less on atmosphere/repetition.

At the same time I don't want it to be overly dissonant, chaotic or "progressive" in nature. I seek "in your face", no bullshit type of attitude.

If that's any help, the band which comes closest to what I want is Averse Sefira. Especially stuff from Tetragrammatical Astygmata.

Thanks in advance.

I think you would love Csejthe - Déréliction. If you want the vocals to be more in your face, try Anti - Nothing.

Looking for very well composed death/black metal in the vein of Knelt Rote's Insignificance and Diocleatian's Doom Cult. The key to these bands are their atmospheres, attention to song structure, and actual riffs. Not looking for blasphemy/revenge/archgoat clones. I also really like the production on both albums and love Diocleatian's use of samples. Again, the songs have to be memorable and would rather it not be a mess of reverb and forgettable riffs and piss poor drumming.

Did I ever link yet another band by the same guy? New album just came out and I just noticed. Apparently his wife does the vocals and he does everything else.

Rituals of A Blasphemer sounds like some pretty awesome, if unoriginal, raw black metal. And I would've never guessed the singer's gender.

i'm looking for more black metal bands with similar aesthetic to bands likes Paysage D'hiver/Darkspace/Battle Dagorath, specifically bands that do more of the atmospheric black metal side with little ambience.

It's definitely a bit similar, but the Arckanum riff ends differently. Overall it reminds me of mid-2000s Horna or Satanic Warmaster (at the best of times...) more than Arckanum.

Sick6Six: Sounds pretty good!

Hi, I'm looking for black metal that is mainly in very lower tunings. By lower, I mean C standard or below. Ruins of Beverast has been really addicting to me lately, and I think part of the reason why is because of how low it sounds. I know most things similar to Ruins and most other things, but I actually would prefer atmospheric stuff that's tuned low, too. Black/doom is acceptable, but I don't want countless things similar to Nortt, if that makes sense.

Thanks!

Anyone knows bands that are VERY well produced in the Black Metal genre? things like the latest Watain or Behemoth albums or in the vein of Incipit Satan of Gorgoroth.

Check out Finster, I find the atmosphere similar without the use of keys. I have also read a few reviews comparing the latest album from Nhor to be similar to PDH.

For you Markov, straight out of my list, Barathrum - Legions of Perkele. Very heavy sounding.

Try Dark Funeral - Attera Totus Sanctus and Marduk - Panzer Division Marduk, they're pretty vicious just like Pentagram!

I also think you'd like Carpathian Forest - Fuck You All!!!! and Satanic Warmaster - Strength and Honour.

It's been posted here before, I think this will help(not just self advertising btw :P): https://rateyourmusic.com/list/heysharp ... the_light/

As for some specific artists:

Consummation: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2GhmZXrlu0k
Blackened Death Metal with a strong Celtic Frost vibe.

Lithotome: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DLamqU3f5os
Some solid, if not spectacular, Blackened Death/Doom

Mefitic: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-qFfagDzBsw
Bestial, savage, nasty shit.

Ruin Lust: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=99ucxlTydWk
I think you'll really dig this one, since you mentioned Knelt Rote. Savage as fuck

Monomakh: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kFq3GW7xvXA
Blackened Death Metal with some Thrash vibes and riffs. Very good stuff

Malthusian: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x7sGfn30P9o
Drugged out, hazy Blackened Death Doom.

Vassafor: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a1-QIQboRt8
My favorite from this bunch. Unlike any other band in the genre.

Any thoughts on the new Sargeist album? I'm currently in the process of listening to it for the first time, and I think it's their best work since the debut album. It's far darker and more atmospheric than even that, in my opinion. The production is extremely messy and garbled though, so don't expect it to sound like Let The Devil In!

It's better than the last Horna album for sure. Funny as the new Sargeist is also recorded at Boneyard but obviously there is more effort put into the recording. Too early to say is it better or worse to previous discography.

I like it quite a bit as well. It has to be played pretty loud with the right bass/treble settings or the bass guitar can be a little to overpowering at parts. I'm listening to it sparingly for now so I still don't really know the different songs yet. The song that stands out the most to me so far is song 3 "unto the undead temple" but part of that has to do with only making it past song 4 a couple times. I wonder if they read some comments about people saying LTDI was to, ahem, "happy" and well produced and that influenced them in their sound production. Maybe they didn't have to dial it back to quite as raw of a level as they did, but it still works for me. Agreed it's a lot better than the new Horna album which I really didn't listen to much. "Feeding the Crawling Shadows" is a badass album title which also is a good description of how the album sounds. Most importantly the riffs are top notch as always.

Really dig this, but a bit too distant sounding and not upfront enough (especially the vocals). When Knelt Rote does that Blasphemy stomp with a well timed grunt it'd get the most unruly person in line, with Vassafor, and most of these bands, (with the exception of Ruin Lust) there's no gut punches, boot stomps, or anything that's really meaty and overwhelming. Thanks though, lots of good stuff to check out when I'm in the mood for more atmospheric or sloppier stuff.

You're right, I got a little ahead of myself there. At least, I like it off the bat better than Disciples, and the style is more to my liking than Let The Devil In.

@FleshMonolith:

It can be difficult to find bands that are both "punchy" and brutal in this genre that are not Archgoat clones or feature the sort of "buried in reverb" production that kind of dominates the genre, especially with the bands you mentioned(Diocletian and Knelt Rote). Both of those bands are really doing their own thing

Try these:

Plague Widow: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AceI1jDGMq8
The drum sound might be a little too "clicky" for you, but Plague Widow are very nasty and punchy. Some what similar to Knelt Rote with the strong Grindcore influence, but with a more modern, Brutal DM tinge. Very Tech-y, but with tons of atmospheric riffs.

Pseudogod- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hmcE9BW0c34
This is about the "pinnacle" of brutal, smashing, aggressive Black Death, but they are pretty well known.

Adversarial- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YmMVEbO-668
Again, kind of well known but I don't know how "down" you are with this genre. Technical without being in any way "wanky" or "modern." Incredibly savage. One of my favorite bands from the genre.

Witchrist and Diocletian side project(or at least used to be). Not one of my favorites, but certainly has that speed and brutality.

I liked Plague Widow, but it seemed to be more death metal based than anything. Very grinding death metal with unique sounds and some black metal atmosphere.

Thanks!

Odz Manouk? I wanna say dude tunes to B but hell if I know. Sounds rather low anyways.
