If I edit a post the time stamp is wrong, I'm getting some pretty random dates and times, anyone else noticed this?

I don't know what's going on but it's weird, I edited the post above and it doesn't say it's been edited
Other posts [eg my trade threads] both have the wrong time-stamps :crash:

Huh, I see it.

When I log in, the time changes to 14:24 so it's correct for my time zone, so that seems to be working fine for me. :???: I don't know about other time stamps though, as I hardly read anything outside this sub-forum. And you do know that edits don't show if there are no posts after yours in the same thread, right?

No I didn't know that! does it matter if I post or it has to be another user?
But still, other threads aren't showing it correctly.

I'm fairly sure it's any post, whether it's you or someone else.

[test edit]

Yep, even if the post after is the same author, edits do show.

I suppose the idea behind this phpBB functionality is that you get a chance to quickly edit your post without shaming yourself. Considering why people edit their posts in normal conversation. Anyway, I don't think it's a bug, but a feature.

What about the timestamps, are they really random?

My trade thread says Last edited by dreadmeat on 12 Feb 2014 19:07, edited 266 times in total. but I just edited it now

And the first post of this thread says Last edited by dreadmeat on 13 Mar 2014 01:19, edited 3 times in total.

I know about that quick edit to save face thing too ha ha

Maybe it's just you. For me it says "Last edited by dreadmeat on 12 Mar 2014 14:19, edited 3 times in total", and it's 12 Mar 2014 15:14 on my watch as I write this.

EDIT: Shit, just noticed you are from New Zealand, so there's probably March 13th already over there. So, is the problem only with other threads/subforums or what?

It is Thursday 13th March 2:25am here

I just edited my wanted thread and this is the time-stamp: Last edited by dreadmeat on 23 Jan 2014 04:08, edited 22 times in total.
The first post here is correct again, I have no idea what's going on here

Forum moderators don't leave timestamps unless you edit the "reason for editing this post" field. You're a moderator in the trade forums so it reflects the last edit before your usergroup changed, and you don't have the same privileges on this forum, so it shows up here. If you want to leave an edit trail, you'll just need to put something in the "reason for editing" box.
