Plant galls created by tiny parasitic wasps in the family Cynipidae, or in this case galls created by two species in the genus Cynips (Formally Antron) on white oaks. Here is some general discussion on wasp galls for anyone that is curious.

Spent a few days after Xmas at my dad's property about 5 hours north of where I live, which backs onto a large river that contains plenty of bass (freshwater fish), that are great to catch and eat. Probably won't show it in the pictures, but it was pushing 40 degrees Celsius when these were taken.

Thanks a lot guys! That's how I'd like to live forestcorpse. Not too far from civilisation but not too close either. When I have job then maybe that's possible. As a student I don't have enough funds to buy a house of my own.

Thanks! Yes the trees are native species. Most of the trees you see in the pictures are norway spruces (Picea abies) and scots pines (Pinus sylvestris). Finnish forest industry mainly uses three tree species, which are spruce, pine and silver birch.
I'm not sure if they're visible in the pictures, but in front of the cliff where these photos were shot are some giant aspens.

We got a shitload of snow yesterday and I went out last night to take more photos, but they didn't come out well at all (definitely not worth posting). I think those ones I took before turned out OK because it was still snowing, so there was lots of snow in the air and cloud cover. Since I live in a fairly densely populated suburban area in a major metropolitan area, we have shitloads of light pollution, so the falling snow and clouds captured and reflected tons of light that night even though the photos were taken at like 2 am. This time around, I waited until the skies were clear (hoping to get the moon, stars, etc. in some shots) but it was just way too dark for anything to show up. I'm sure better cameras have more extreme exposure settings that would've worked, but no dice for me this time.

Taken down an almost pitch black lane, the orange sky wasn't that noticeable and must be from the nearby town and street lighting

No snow photos for me, neither. I think it has been melted by the rain and the high temperature (6º C).

Ok, this sunday morning, around 6:00, the big waves were supposed to meet the high tide and we went to see the waves (after partying all night long):
