Playing tonight with Nocturnal Hellstorm. Stoked to be playing to a crowd as we pretty much played to the other bands on the 1st. Maybe get some video of this show so you guys can hear some real music.

Didn't get much accomplished today other than some GTA 5, but I ran over a ton of people in that game today, and shot many more. So I guess that's good. I'm going to spend about 15 minutes on a guitar before I go to bed and hopefully I can bang out a couple good riffs.

sometimes you just have to blow off steam like that. I played some today even though multiplayer is a big let down for me.

I did finish the art and mix for this Ishimura ep

That's always productive. Buy miniguns and grenades for even the smallest missions so you can go totally over the top, like using 5 grenades on 2 dudes with no body armour and pistols only, or annihilating every cop car into a fireball whenever you get stars.

What a night. Played to a decent crowd and we were the ONLY band Dan Lilker watched and he watched our entire set. He said we reminded him of Spoonful of Vicodin. All eyes were on us when we played. Nocturnal Hellstorm are awesome as well.

I've been kinda out of music in a way. Yesterday I wrote a song for my son Ren. Besides that, I have a decent share of new stuff written but I need to demo it soon.

I definitely need to get the minigun and waste some people. That would be so awesome.

Got off work a bit early today, gonna sit down and bang out some music now.

SLK, finish those drums!

I wrote lyrics for three songs today! Have a couple new riffs from over the weekend too. :)

Total support for Zodijackyl locking those 'How does one start a solo black metal project?' threads here and in the main forum. Sure, it's great to get advice from musicians further along but come on, how about a write a damn song or read some of the vast advice already out there? Or shit, if you want to get crazy maybe just TRY and see what happens.

Yeah, it was either that or "loop alternating midi kick/snare, hit guitar, cry into microphone, send facebook message to depressive illusions." If you would believe it, there were two more of them in other wrong forums. :(

Recording *something* is just so easy to accomplish these days. You just gotta get something recorded, see how it compares with stuff that sounds like what you want it to sound like (both musically and production-wise) then ask questions/ask for critique. I'm sure all of us started with less-than-ideal stuff, both in terms of what we were writing and how we were recording it, then just got slowly better over time. Asking how to be a band is like asking, "so I bought a knife and a cutting board. How do I become a chef?" or "so I bought a paintbrush and some watercolors. How do I become an artist?". Mind-boggling.

Still waiting on vocals for the Coma Void album. I'm getting antsy about it, which just now is starting to transform into eagerness to get started on some Gloaming stuff. I even made a Bandcamp for it and threw up that song I already have recorded. The guitar playing on that track is sloppy as fuck and I'm still not super happy with the vocals, but fuck it, it sounds pretty good to me.

Only one song left before the album is done musically. I've been on a good roll these past few weeks. I already had 3 of the songs finished sometime around February or March, I can't remember, and I kinda stopped for quite a while, then from the beginning of September until now, I got 6 songs written and recorded. Probably could've been done a lot quicker, and a lot earlier, but oh well.. I'm just glad it's nearly done, but when I finish this last one it's on to writing the lyrics, getting moved (or vice versa), investing in better recording equipment, and rerecording everything with the addition of vocals. Oh, and finding someone to release this piece of shit..

So we've figured out the release plan for the new Blacksoul Seraphim material. As I mentioned before, we're gonna release one song a month every month as long as new material is available, and since we currently have 6 or 7 songs ready with more on the way, that should service fine for most of 2014. The first new song will be released in December, and we're continuing to work on even more material as these new songs are put out. Depending on how many songs we end up releasing throughout 2014, I'll probably end up collecting all the songs into a full length for download on Bandcamp in the order they would be in had they originally been on a full length.

As my vocalist's hand slowly atrophies, I guess I will have to take a more proactive role in songwriting besides just arranging songs and changing riffs. With only one working finger on his left hand he wrote most of the stuff we have right now that's unrecorded but that's gotta change real soon.

It's a nerve injury I think, been there fora few years. Woe To The Conquered was basically him recording with his index and middle fingers. Most of Great Architect and the subsequent material was written with either 2 or 1 fingers. I guess it's gonna get worse to the point where he can't even write anymore, sadly.

Probably got it due to practicing guitar 10 hours a day followed by lifting a ton of weights. Because of his story I'm quite careful not to do any such thing just in case.

Yeah, he worked his way around it for a while until it became too much of an issue. I sometimes still marvel at the ideas that he's generated given that he can't exactly play around on the guitar very much to 'find' riffs. A short while before I joined the band, I saw them play a show and was wondering why on earth he was only using 2 fingers to play the entire setlist. It becomes an instrument of torture when he records/produces us though.

"Why the fuck is that so sloppy, I could do it better with 2 fingers!"

One of my friends had a similar issue, tendonitis caused by numerous hours of daily bass playing coupled with a job as a stone mason. Sometimes people give all sorts of advice on stuff like this online, but the only acceptable response is for your bandmate to speak to a medical professional about it if that hasn't happened all ready. Really sorry to hear that though, hopefully it will get better to allow him to at least not be impaired with daily life activities.

You'd record some drums, that's what you'd do!

I'd probably just start doing krokodil. Google image search that if you don't know what it is. If I couldn't play guitar anymore that would be the only way out. Either that or just write goregrind lyrics about it. Probably less painful.

Nothing in the entire universe is worth trying krokodil. It's a drug so mind bogglingly insane that I can't even fathom why someone would try it.

Wrote a riff just half an hour ago and since I left all my cables at "Warzone" I couldn't record it, so I had to enter it in GuitarPro, which is a pain in the ass sometimes.

Interesting though, because when I picked up the guitar to practice some Suffocation and Bloodbath songs to possibly cover I felt no motivation to play at all.

I am currently working with one friend in a death metal project called: Sombras. We are working manly in speed and progression on the scales. Also I am doing some black metal songs by myself. But I am having some trouble recording drumms. Would somebody suggest me a good drumm program.

infinitenexus my next agenda for sat since actually what I normally start the day off with is practically cancelled.

no idea about any drum programs, I always say go with a drummer being finding one or over the net.

Working manly, I like the sound of that!

THe label sent our share of the CDs for the upcoming album over to us much sooner than expected. Express mail, and everything packed nicely. I highly recommend checking them out, both to buy stuff from their shop(cheap as hell and FREE shipping) or to approach them to release an album. Very professional and flexible throughout the entire endeavour, great guys.

After rehearsing and recording scratch tracks with both of my 'main' guitars, a Schecter Diamond 006(Invaders) and an Ibanez RG320(JB), I'm quite a strong proponent of not-so-hot pickups which have a lot more clarity and dynamics. The JB is much older but I'll be damned if it isn't one of the best Seymour Duncan pickups available. High output enough for screaming harmonics, balls to the wall shredding and gut busting chugs, but much more clearly defined than the Invader which is more distorted and bassy. The JB may lack a little bit of low-end for death metal but tweaking the bass up 2 notches on the amp will fix that without losing clarity.

I have riffs for a new song. It's kind of Kreator (Endless Pain/Flag of Hate era) influenced. It's first wave black metal tried and true! Nowhere near close to recording anything yet. Taking my time.

Interesting, Somefella. Horror Pain Gore Death Productions might be interested by my project, we're gonna look for a label soon. They have Druid Lord that I really like and they have some doom. I might ask you your support once the mastering is done! The cover artist is doing some sketches right now, can't wait to see them.
