hahaha it never was for me cause I like their short and fast shit. When I first got this album I was like... what the fuck :( many times I still skip it. I listen to Bunumb for mindless blasting and feedback. nothing more.

"oh,great. what does everyone do during this song? lie down in a circle and have some sleepy time?"

Power it Up or Crucificados Pelo Sistema in Germany, as was said Selfmade God.

new Machetazo kicks dick. Much more grimy sounding, no samples, vocals are otherworldly and the guitars sound like the best possible mix between Entombed and Autopsy. Even some doom parts too.

Leaves that, Iron Lung, and Sick/Tired as the only grind/hardcore LP that've caught my attention this year.

I find that Machetazo album to lean much harder to the death metal side of things, but yeah, it's a good'n. I was surprised to find a decent amount of negative reviews of the album, oh well.

This year has been pretty slow for grindcore, at least as far as releases from more prominent bands in the genre are concerned. I'm sure I'm missing out on a few things.

Yeah, I could see speed freaks not being too happy with Machetazo's direction, but I really like this train of thought (Coffins, Innumerable Forms, etc). Their own sounds kinda been flooded, so I'm happy to hear them change it up. Plus, as much as I loved Mundo Crypta, it was just a bit too slick sounding.

Aggressive Valley!
http://aggressivevalley.bandcamp.com/al ... e-grinders

RE: Machetazo - I liked Ruin a lot but I don't really consider it a grindcore record, way more death metal like Ryann said.

In addition to the full lengths mentioned: that new PLF was a banger and the new Impalers (TX) were rad, The Kill was a good one too. Been hella good splits and small vinyl releases this year.

Thought the Kill was last year, i guess the vinyl got put out this year so it counts (?). PLF album had just too many riffs, felt like they spread themselves a bit thin and made it a thrash record on PCP. Should hit it up more though.

Didn't know Impalers had a full length. Dug their demo tape, although it just sounded like Mammoth Grinder now (if I recall correctly).

The new Raspberry Bulbs lp's good, but that's more in punk territory.

And you're right, Ruins is more of a dm album, but they still fit in the realm of grind if you ask me.

Dead in the Dirt released the second best grindviolence album this year. After Iron Lung.

keep mixing that band up with some not so good English sludge band; Dead in the Woods.

another entombed southern lord band. although they seem to be good.

I saw Dead In The Dirt here in Jackson a few weeks ago. I don't really care for their recorded output, but they were pretty good live. I've never heard of Impalers, gonna have to check them out! The Kill and PLF albums were definitely cool, I spun the new PLF yesterday before a jam session and it still rips. I need to listen to Make 'Em Suffer more though, haven't spun that one enough.

They should be able to, they are based out of Poland. They are good about having their stuff instock if it's listed for sale.

Way heavier punk/hc and occasional Motorhead vibes to my ears than the death metal overtones of MG. I saw someone describe them as Venom playing Motorhead covers at twice the speed which I don't totally agree with but I like the imagery haha.

It ain't grind but they rule! The sound varies a little between the 3 releases they have up. I think the stuff from the 2010 Demo might still be my favorite.

I haven't actually purchased anything from there, but if memory serves it was highly recommended in the "good distro/bad distro" thread. You can search specifically in that sub-forum and try to catch some of the old posts. I recommended it to you because it had been recommended to me in the past. ;)

Hey guys, I'm looking for bands similar to Nails in terms of the ultra-heavy, Swedish death metal-esque guitar tone and crushing riffs.

Already know about Rotten Sound, Magrudergrind and Trap Them. Great bands!

Out of the other recs, I'm really digging The Arson Project, Afgrund, Cloud Rat. The clear winner though seems to be Harm's Way; they're pretty much exactly what I was looking for.

Thanks a ton!
