Gorgoroth - Blood Stains The Circle

First time spinnign UTSOH. First impression: It lacks the melodic brilliance of the first two albums and I don't really see why so many prefer it, but it is decent.

Chimaira - Crown Of Phantoms - No Mercy

Just got this in the mail. First impression is that this is much better then their last effort. This is the Chimaira we all know and love just revamped a bit.

I wanted to listen to Anathema, but I was already feeling sleepy and unmotivated, so that didn't work out well. So instead:

Arsis - A Celebration of Guilt

That should energize me.

When it comes to the first three Gorgoroth albums, they start incredible strong and then decline slightly; Pentagram is 10/10, Antichrist 8/10 and UTSoH is about 6/10. After that, the discography is very up and down.

NP: Metal Church - Battalions

I started listening to Metal Church about a week ago, and so far, this is the stand-out track by them. I shall be exploring their discography more in due course.

Filthy, murky, oozing crushing death metal - fucking perfect. It's so monstrously heavy, in it's single-mindedness.

Killer Death Metal right there

Np : Ares Kingdom - Veneration
This album is simply brilliant.
Riffs galore

Triumphator ‎– The Ultimate Sacrifice

Short but satisfying EP. Will get round to listening to their full length one day.

If the "hate me" part wasn't a CoB song title pun, then I will hate you.

Alice in Chains - Nothing Song in the car, one of the best songs on a great album. The perils of droning working life.

Endstille-Endstilles Reich

Been listening to a lot of blasting stuff like this over the last few days, setherial, marduk and similar bands.

Pestilence - Consuming Impulse

Like a bloodthirsty swarm of ants transformed into audio. It has everything I want in this genre, all in one concise package: savagery, intense vocals, infectious songwriting, and heavy as fuck riffs. Probably my favorite pure death metal release of all time.

Slayer - Crypts of Eternity

One of my favorite songs of their entire catalogue, and SO sinfully overlooked!!!!! Also, very progressive as far as Slayer's oldies go.

Mourning Beloveth - The Sullen Sulcus

This album crushes with the weight of an entire civilization's sorrow. It dredges and crawls like a behemoth funeral procession. I love the growls, but the clean vocals are my favorite part of this record.

Safe for now then :D

I am actually listening to something right now, which is unusual when I'm just hanging out alone on the interwebs.

NP: Stormlord - The Curse of Medusa

I like all the symphonic stuff, but overall the sound is kind of thin for me - I guess I like something heavier and thicker-sounding. I'm on "Bahomet's Curse" right now and the opening riff totally sounds like an Amon Amarth song, slightly slowed down.

Zealotry - The Charnel Expanse

Weird, somewhat technical(in the old school sense) Death Metal. I'm still waiting for the day when I'll be disappointed by any of Tougas' bands.

Hahaha, unfortunately I don't have any more COB lyrics puns up my sleeve, so I must stop being a Finn-troll for the time being :D What was the link for? The sig?

And..I'm not listening to anything, cause I've had weird work assignments today. Time to remedy that, perhaps.

Agrypnie - 16[485]
Listened to this earlier. This definitely isn't straight up black metal like the archives say, but I wouldn't know how else to classify it. It's progressive, melodic, groovy and blistering. This is definitely one of the best blind buys I've made.

NP: Exhumed Corpse - Untitled
This is a two-track 7" by a Michigan noise/ambient project. Some of his other stuff is really noisy, but this release is downright creepy.

Avakr - A Word from Within

Very good atmospheric black metal from Indiana, reminiscent of the Cascadian scene, but definitely not a clone band.

Desmondus - Human Wreck: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CNFNaVKDRv8

This is actually fucking sweet! Desmondus's logo rules, looks similar to Solstice though. It's a shame these Italian thrashers only released this one demo. :ugh:

Armed For Apocalypse - The Road Will End - The Starting Line Is A Trip Wire

I loved their debut that came out a few years back. The Road Will End is a great fallow up. I didn't have a clue they were even making a new album until i stumbled across this on line the day it was released. Nice fuzzy, sludgey, extreme metal.

If I was making a movie about the return of the Great Old Ones, I would play the first two minutes of this song during the opening credits.

Helstar - Nosferatu

This album is just ludicrously good. It has such a dark, oppressive atmosphere throughout that perfectly complements its subject matter. It's just an endless onslaught of powerful, technical riffs and staggering solo work.

Nothing sticks in my head despite the aggressive vocals!
