Can anyone help? I'm looking for a good enough amp for begginers that I can use to practice with. Something relatively cheap like around 100$ or less.

Anything with more distortion than an overdrive, to be honest. In that range, everything is pretty much the same standard with minor differences. Just use it to practice til you get better. Anything like a Laney LX10 or LG12, a Marshall Valvestate, a Roland Microcube, whatever. You can even just get a Vox Metal Amplug, which is what I use nearly all the time at home, save the big amps for rehearsals. That cost like $20?

I had a Peavey Vypyr 15. I think they're $100 now and they sound a lot better than Line 6 Spider crap. Pretty easy to dial in a decent tone once you get used to all the controls. It's kinda fizzy but if you keep the pre (or post gain? I don't remember which one was the source of fizz) down it sounds ok.

Don't bother with mini amps, get a Fender Mustang I. It's got 20W, tuner included, a bunch of amp models, presets, and effects. Plus you can hook it up to your PC and with their Fuse program tinker even more with sounds and effects.

I recommend a 20w Marshall amplifier. Great tone for a lower end amp, Marshall quality and reliable.

Look for a Roland Cube 20W or a Peavey Bandit, both of them are immortal and you should be able to find them used for $100-130. They're both solid amps and they are both very good for recording.

Those anyone one know if the Rocktron Velocity v10 is any good? The price is what got my attention at first but is it any good for practicing? I'll be using it to practice mostly Death Metal.

with a line 6 pod you get lots of FX and variation of sounds and you can record with it . or you should look for a peavey bandit 112, very good amp in my opinion.

You could've at least linked up something showing him what he could get for that 100 or suggest places to go like pawn shops or local music stores that buy used gear cause I know I've gotten most of my gear second hand that way.

Alright, in my opinion - the best amp for any kind of beginner or even intermediate guitar player is the Line 6 Spider IV 15 15-watt. This is a crushingly good amplifier for the money. I still have my very own, a terrific amp for practice.

Agreed. As much flak as Line 6 digital modelling gets, a Spider is more than good enough for practice.

i won't knock line 6 for those intended purposes but I laugh at anyone who uses them to record or play shows with.

Yeah, I highly recommend the Line6 IV 15 myself, whether it be for practice or home recording. Not recommended for professionalism, though, I agree.
