Hey everyone, figured I'd ask around before bringing the guitar into the shop.

I have an Epiphone Firebird and after breaking a high e, I can't seem to restring another one, the tuning peg stops turning before the string is nearly high enough, I've tried searching online for any tips or little repairs I could do at home to fix it, but to no avail. I'm hoping one of you might have some ideas for me, 'cause I am at a loss and have no idea what to do (other than bring it in, but money's tight so I'd like to avoid that if possible.) I've tried light and medium strings, same result either way. Thanks in advance for any help you might be able to give me!

sounds like your tuning peg is stripped out. there is nothing to do beside replace it.

Some places do single tuner replacements, replaced one on my dad's fake Les Paul. Looks pretty stupid since it doesn't match the rest of them, but it was pretty cheap.

Get a new peg, they're pretty cheap. If you're careful enough, you can try cutting the string a little shorter but it's not a good idea for a permanent solution.

Assuming they are the standard type gibson style tuners, you'll have to just replace it.
