Finally listening to this band. This is a rather transfixing album, I must say...

Oh yeah, that one is just insane. Great stuff.

Hah, Empy, I did such a huge double-take when I saw that album on your top 100 list. Seems way out of your comfort zone, to be honest.

I like music that challenges my comfort zone though, that's the thing. I like interesting, creative stuff. Emotional-type stuff.

Queensryche - Child of Fire

Heavy and classic sounding, this one.

I'm always wondering how SLK is able to listen to 3 bands at the same time!

The Ruins of Beverast - Rain Upon the Impure, off the album of the same name

Wow, this is..... Different. Really massive, and spooky, not unlike entering some sort of underground cave inhabited by..... Things. Can't say I love it, but it certainly leaves an impression.

Nile: Whom the Gods Detest.

prob my fav since amongst. and I don't listen to 3 at the same time, I collect everything I had listened to in the past hour or two and post that which I didn't seem to be much issue with. But I can make a million single posts with a short comment,.

Sedulity - The Valley of Dying Stars

Really good new band, kinda like a mix of Death and Artillery with Warbringer's vocals. I think they could go on to do great things...

Vomitor - Crimson Tide

Just some fun black speed metal ala Hellhammer. Dirty, raw, rifftastic.

Cinderella - Heartbreak Station

Never listened to this album before. It's quite a departure from their more predictable (but fun, imo) hair band music. Very bluesy. Not much in the way of distorted guitars to be found. Quite good, actually.

Hellsaw - The Forerunner Of The Apocalypse

I find the new album damn impressive, and wouldn't have expected something this engaging or articulate at this point in their career. Check this out if you dig atmospherically competent, yet energetic and rather catchy modern black metal.

Behemoth - Slaves Shall Serve. The layering of the vocals is a bit weird, but the song is great and the sound is massive.

Also, the polish misheard lyrics done for this one and Decade of Therion are hilarious as hell!

Oh man, that album rules so hard. Can't say it's something I'm able to enjoy it all the, but once I'm in the mood for it...

NP: Paradise Lost - Embers Fire

Rocking yet moody. I should really listen to the entire album again.

Metal Gear Solid Soundtrack - Psycho Mantis' Theme

A memorable track from a great game. Something about it is also strangely soothing.

"Apathetic" - Dark Tranquillity.

Personally loving the new album. The whole thing is very varied and experimental, but solid. Character/Gallery-esque riffs on some, Projector vocals on some, Black Metal undertones here and there. Very pleased.

Couldn't Tell The Bodies Apart by Awaiting the Autopsy

Honestly, if I hadn't known beforehand that the vocalist was a chick, I couldn't have told you if it was a dude or a chick. The whole album is brutal as hell.

Mumakil - wish they would get another album out aside from the 2

Suture- remastered unreleased(?) demo ep. sounds good. I think it's un released demos mainly cause the song titles don't match any of the old songs yet sound like songs I've heard and it was recorded in 2003

Karnarium's new one... fuck this is so goddamn good. it's odd but I can't put my finger on what makes it sound odd. just enjoy the fuck out of it.

Tormented - Rotten Death

I like the general feel of the album but it would have been much better if the production were a bit clearer

Yeah, this is pretty cool, although I wasn't aware that they had a new singer. Not like it matters a lot though, as she seems to be just as good as the previous one.

Metal Messiah - Honour Among Thieves

A underrated UK thrash metal album. Listening to the reissue by Mosh Tuneage (first time on CD BTW). Some great NWOBHM-like riffing spliced with thrash aggression. What is weird though is that the second half of the album seem much better produced that the first half. But overall a solid thumbs up. Listen to it if you like good, powerful thrash.

Amorphis - Grail's Mysteries

Edit: Sorry, forgot my line.
Early Amorphis = good shit. I do prefer the Privilege Of Evil EP over their first album, though. Later Amorphis sucks balls.

Vulture Industries - I Hung My Heart in Harrow Square. The singer sounds almost exactly like Garm on La Masquerade, but the music is actually different from Arcturus, unlike their debut.

Vetter - Et Folk Av Karrig Jord

I found out about this through Fenriz' botw blog some time ago. Vetterkult is just plain awesome. Black metal with strong ambient influences, but in a good way. Energetic and vicious & the same time ultra atmospheric. The sound could be compared to the cries of the ancient moloch beast from the deepest pits of a cold scandinavian hell. The whole thing ist just massive.

How doesn't this have a review on here?

Write one :) Never heard of Vetter, I'll check it out, maybe I could review it.

NP: Valpurgis Night - Psalms of Solemn Virtue

That's fucking amazing, I'm literally on my ass, that's perhaps my discovery of the year. It's awesome heavy/doom with some thrash elements and it's very underrated/obscure. That's a shame! Review incoming. I'll upload some songs on youtube since there's none.

BYS: yeah, the new AIC is great.

I've thought about writing one, but that could become quite a challenge. I've never actually managed to complete a presentable review, even though I tried. :(

NP: Nuclear Assault - F-Sharp

Speed metal fuck yeah.

This was the first song I heard by the band back in 2003 (it was the music video, and oh my what a way to be memorable), and it's still one I play every now and then. I like "Growing On Me" more, but this one's also untouchable hard rock.
