Man, these guys can never do anything wrong. Sounds like it'll be another fantastic release.

Apparently the order of the tracklist has been changed and there's a new song called "Scalpel".

Really liking the two new songs, especially Stone. That intro and main riff is just great. Looking forward to this for sure, and the song titles are pretty good, some of them seem like they'll translate into really heavy and dark tracks with plenty of that expert Cantrell riffage :)

This.

I can't wait to see them live again in support of this album, too. Got to see them twice in support of Black Gives Way to Blue. They crushed it both times.

Finally heard stone. Man, what a killer. I agree, the riff is groovy as hell, but sounds totally different from Acid Bubble to me. Maybe It wont hurt to be a little optimistic about this album.

This band and soundgarden I have to say are the only bands from the "grunge" seen I like, though I always thought they sound more like doom/stoner metal, I will have to check this album out.

Yep. Both have more in common with doom/stoner bands. They got cursed by the 'grunge' label, that's what. Although Soundgarden seems kinda poor since Down on the Upside, more experimental and alternative and didn't quite like King Animal either. But Alice is still a monster.

This just in - the video for 'Stone' is quite nice. Part performance video, part story/concept.

I can see why the thread was dead for 2 weeks after that video...

It's my first time hearing Stone and I'm a little disappointed. Video was alright and the main riff was cool, but the song started to drag after a while even with the decent solo. I kinda thought this after the songs snippets before the previous album was released though, so hopefully the songs will all seem right when finally listening to them in context as on Black Gives Way to Blue.

Cantrell looks fuckin' weird with a haircut, doesn't he? Another thing I thought was a little strange was the Cantrell was doing the majority of vocals. I'll have to listen to Hollow again, but I thought that was pretty much all DuVall... If they keep alternating it should make for an interesting album!

The song sounds sick, it reminds me of Check My Brain but with a little more experimentation. I can definitely see this being as good if not better than BGWTB. I was thoroughly amused and impressed with that comedic fake doco that was released earlier, just a terrific way to get the music out there without stooping to the obligatory sampler clip/s. I tip my hat off to them.

Bumping this - 1 min 30 samples are up on iTunes now for anyone curious. I guess the album will leak fully soon, it's release is only 6 days away.

I really dig the samples. Seems like it's going to be a worthy successor of BGWTB.

Waiting for the new Gorguts album has numbed my sense of anticipation for new albums. I'm looking forward to this, but the edge of my seat fell off a long time ago.

I'm at track 8 right now, awesome album! As good or even better than their previous one. I fear that it's a bit overlong though, 12 songs/1hr7 is a bit too much in my opinion.

yep just finished "lab monkey" and this album is definitely as good as the last. not sure about better - have to give it time. so far, hollow is still the standout track.

It's definitely too long, but so was the last one. It's a dark and catchy odyssey and I expect no less from them. I wish Duvall had more space to shine, as it's a very Cantrell centric album. The title track is haunting and the thick riffs are plentiful. I love how tasteful Cantrell's playing always is.

Well..i've been waiting for this for ages. it definitely has an eerie vibe all around for sure, like in Pretty Done and Lab Monkey. Duvall's vocals in Hung on a Hook I think are some of the best he's done so far. He should get more time to shine, though Jerry is of course more than capable to carry the load of vocals. From the song titles though, I expected this to be a tad more riffy. Has the darkness factor, but not as many heavier riffs as I imagined it would. Regardless, we have Hollow, Stone and Phantom Limb for that and i'm giving this a second listen while the album as a whole grows on me a bit more

Despite it being a bit too long and not having enough of Duvall, this album still rules. Definitely gonna be in my top 5 of the year.

Good album. I think I liked Black Gives way to Blue a bit more. Consistent album. 'Low Ceiling' is a super song

I've enjoyed every song on here I've heard (half the album thus far), but I'd agree that in the grand scheme it might be a bit too long.

the title is making fun of hardcore christians who, when confronted with evidence that the earth is over 6,000 years old by way of fossil evidence, claim that Lucifer put dinosaur bones on earth in order to trick us and stray us from the path of god.

The title is referencing and making fun of that line of thinking. I think it is a great title.

@Khalian; I am fairly sure that everyone knows what the title implies by now.

On the subject of the album; as expected, it rules. Sure, it's a bit overlong, but also very consistent. Somewhat heavier than BGWTB too. No songs have truly jumped out at me yet, but that'll surely change. The last album required some time to sink in before I could point out highlights, and I'm certain this one will follow the same path.
