What are you on about?? It's Malmsten, not Malmsteen!
And in what language would you pronounce Yngve/Yngwie as "ing-vay". Oh yeah, Wikipedia!

ゼ[Ze] isn't a very good name. The Japanese character means 'zero', but what does the ze stand for? Is the band's name supposed to be Zero[Ze]? Why not simply leave it at 'zero' in Japanese.

I have an earnest dislike for Sepultura. I simply don't like the way it sounds.

Except trad/NWOBHM, OSDM and first wave BM, from what I gather.
Wow, I guess that really would simplify our genre and bring it back to basics.

This is actually interesting because the name sounds pretty quirky in English. But if you listen to it in the original Brazilian Portuguese, it's something like "sé-pou-tu-rá", which you have to say sounds a lot different. In Portugal's Portuguese it sounds even weirder because it's something like "se-pule-tu-era", but don't mind the later phonetic example because the Portuguese accent is very hard to get. ;)

Ha. A clear case of attempted humor ending up being silly. I, however, checked out their track list and it seems like they're trying to be true to their name by singing about such themes. Eg. Bagger 288

I always hear it as it would be pronounced in Finnish, which I assume to be much closer to the Brazilian Portuguese pronunciation than the English one.

I think the Polish pronounciation is sort of similar to the Brazilian one from what I've heard, and the name sounds very good to me, ominous to say the least.

Then it also depends on which part of Brazil you're at, because they have some weird ass accents in some places. But the point is, Portuguese names very rarely sound good when pronounced in foreign accents. The phonetics are just way too different to be honest, and for instance, between Portuguese and English it normally sounds very awkward.

Just came across a band called Forcefed Horsehead. Still not sure whether I like the name or not. I do, however, like the music.

In spanish the word for 'grave' is the same. Here it's pronounced 'se-pool-too-rah.'

But in English, an augury is the same as an omen or a presage. Nothing weird or silly about that.

That's almost how I would pronounce it in Finnish, just that the vowels are rather short. The 'r' rolls and the 'h' is silent (which I assume is true for Spanish aswell).

Actually the brazilian pronounciation is closer to this than what androdion said, but I guess that depends on the regional accent. The main difference would be that we don't roll the "r" like I assume spanish speakers do.

Yeah, the r is pretty weak and the h is silent. The only kinda long vowel is the second U in 'Sepult-uu-ra'.

To those who know IPA: it's /sepuwˈtuɾɐ/ ~ /sepuwˈtuɾa/ in Brazilian Portuguese.

It’s not a bad name, IMO. It has a nice ring to it, and the meaning is very metal.
