Cannibal Corpse - Intestinal Crank

Finally got around to listening to Torture. This is a solid death metal album.

Dream Theater - Bridges in the Sky

Their best song in years...mesmeric. I don't think anything else on this album really lives up to it though. Maybe it'll grow on me.

'Breaking All Illusions' takes the cake for me. Solid album all the way through.

The ballads are just so, so dull. 7 minutes for "This is the Life"? Even the three minute "Far from Heaven" is pretty uninspiring...the heavier, longer songs are pretty good though.

The Nightspectral Voyage by Obsidian Gate

This has got to be the best symphonic black metal album I've ever heard.

Very cool album. NWOBHM-ish at times. Shame the reissue is sold-out and I cannot find it for a decent price.

In Flames - The Quiet Place. This is definitely the grooviest I've heard In Flames in my recent time listening to them, but I'm really enjoying the riffs in this track, these guys are really good at conveying something I can't really describe.

Winterfylleth - A Thousand Winters

Haven't listened to the band in a while, but their latest album is my favourite by them so far. I'm probably heading on a black-metal kick quite soon, I can sense it.

One of my favorite PM albums of all time. It's catchy as hell, and cheesy in the best possible way. :nods: Also, that should be apparent from my title...

I didn't even catch till now! lol

And dude this album, has quickly become one of my favorites, I recently asked for sci-fi themed trad/power/speed metal similar to this in the heavy/power/speed thread but noones replied yet. You're totally right, it's cheesy but perfectly cheesy haha and so catchy and fun to sing along to. What's your favorite song from the album?

Damn, that's almost impossible to choose. The sing along numbers like "Terrion" and "Across the Universe" are unforgettable and ridiculously fun, but the more powerful songs loaded with guitar pyrotechnics and soaring vocals like "Warp 7" and "Locked Out" are close as well. Really, I just love the whole thing, though I do prefer the first half to the second. Also, the bonus track "Wizard Force" is insanely catchy. :-D

I know, it's hard for me to choose one as well, but I think gun to my head I'd have to go with one of the sing along songs, probably "Terrion". I prefer the first half as well, not that the second is band, but that first half is just earth-shatteringly amazing lol I haven't listened to the bonus tracks yet, I've gotta check that out when I finish the record! I'll probably by the cd re-issue this friday when I get paid :headbang:

Never could REALLY get into modern Amorphis.

LOVE how it start slowly and falls into chaos!
