This is getting showered with praise everywhere, but so far, I didn't warm up to it at all...

After my first listen, I find this to be very satisfying! Good songs, album isn't over long and keeps my attention. Definitely sounds like the logical successor to the old Satan/Pariah stuff. Plus, those guitar leads are excellent!

Amazing, every song was worth the listen. Might be THE album for me this year. I wanted to pre-order the LP but it would come up to $52 with shipping :ugh:

It's a kick ass record. If you disagree, it's because you're a terrible person.

My copy of Court in the Act arrived. I can't wait to give it a spin and order Life Sentence.

Man, it's so old school. Wonderful stuff. Like a time machine, but updated. Groovy.

Album rules. Hopefully a reissue of Court in the Act will come soon too? I've considered buying a Greek bootleg (well, it's either a bootleg or one seller has about 100 copies) but I'm holding out.

Listened to the entire album yesterday, sounds pretty sweet

leaking is when a album is put online or whatever by someone without the bands permission before the actual release date.

:/ Of course man, I know. I guess I forgot to put an "and" somewhere there. I was certainly referring to Summoning with regards to that.

Anywho, I played those tracks twice and I'm thoroughly satisfied with the output. Expectations ran high and Satan pretty much delivered.

Holy hell this is great. I just can't get over how sweet it is to have some real organic sounding electric guitars. Just pure metal to the bone riffing.

edit: This is the best album of the year so far. Easy.

I thoroughly agree. This is one of those very rare examples of a record that could've easily been released in the 80's and it would have felt right at home. Even the best revival bands can't fully capture this level of old school magic.

I couldn't even point to a standout. "Twenty Twenty Five," the awesome "Cenotaph," the Maidenish "Incantations," the melodious "Tears of Blood," the crazy riffing and energy in the title track - shit, this is a monster of an album. Going to be hard for bands half their age to top this year.

Seconding that. Holy fuck. Expectations set REAL high for this one.

The only "comeback" album that MIGHT beat this one is Toxik's. Doubtful.

Any words on when Toxik is actually releasing anything new?

This album kicks so much ass that even my nearly 3 year old niece started moshing and trashing my bedroom while listening to it! Which makes me pose the question of which is best, her love for metal or the quality of this album!

I agree with Emp, younger bands will get a whoopass with this one. :nods:

I think it's... good, but not quite what I was hoping for with all the buildup in this thread. There are a couple absolute barnburners and on the whole I do really like it (the old school production job is also really nice, as ANA pointed out), but it'd score around an 80% or something from me based off the first listen.

Right. I've been lamenting the lack of that sound, and here it is, preserved and cleaned.
