I have a bad feeling about this. I liked Thirteen...

Can we all just admit that Endgame only had two good tracks already? Let's be real here...

Oh come on, Endgame had eight or nine good tracks.

Endgame was a stellar work for what it set out to do. Some people need to stop thinking something sucks because it doesn't have what they want in it; mashed potatoes don't suck because there's not enough carrots in it.

Thank you.

The intro, This Day We Fight, Headcrusher, and...

Yeah, that's all I rocked out to. The rest was like filler on an early 2000's Overkill album.

Endgame was a pretty bad album. Thirteen was even worse, and we can assume that the new one will be even worse. I've lost faith in Dave a long time ago.

The songs that weren't "This Day We Fight" and "Headcrusher" didn't suck because they weren't as technical or fast or thrashy as those two, they sucked because they were boring and faceless and even after dozens of spins the only things I can remember from every other track are the laughably bad lyrics.

You're being quite nice, I think the album sucked thru and thru, as Megadeth has been doing so for so long. 13 was a joke only received positively for hardcore/blind/deaf bands of the band, cause as a thrash album was hilarious, as a heavy metal album was hilarious and as a hard rock album? maybe, as background music it could pass.

Now Super Collider will suck so much that I'm already seeing people burning the cd or playing with it on the streets like a frisbee.

I don't think anything on there really sucked, but I'd add the title track and "Hardest Part of Letting Go" to the good tracks list. A lot of it felt really generic though, like a checklist of 'metal' tropes.

That title track was unlistenable at first. Got a bit better near the end, once they went into the chorus bit, but still, good god Mustaine's vocals are shit.

You'd have to be insane to think Megadeth has EVER put out a bad album...except for Cryptic Writings, Risk, World Needs A Hero, System Has Failed and 13.

That's quite a few exceptions, haha. I agree about Risk and TWNAH, but I like the others.

What the hell is this really supposed to mean? I hate Megadeth so I can't make a legitimate comment, but for the life of me I can't make sense of that argument.

Yeah, really. It should be a given that any person stating a certain album sucks is merely expressing their opinion, and not claiming it to be the universal truth (there can be exceptions, of course, but nobody in their right mind should presume to think they have the ability to objectively assess damn near anything). A negative opinion means that according to criteria the holder sets for music they consider good, the reviewed piece of music falls short.

A better analogue would be a gourmet complaining that a BigMac doesn't taste as fine as asparagus with hollandaise. Completely reasonable criticism. Mind you, even a gourmet might enjoy a BicMac sometimes. A fan of BigMacs might also complain that the BigMac he was served was poorly made and tasted abnormally bad, which I'd say is the case with people who enjoyed, say, Endgame, but complained about Thirteen and this.

What he's basically saying is that people who don't like Endgame simply wanted it to be something it wasn't, which is a common defense when presented with a negative opinion of an album you like. Hell, I'm prone to the same thing with Reign in Blood (though I feel that's different because the common criticisms with that album are demonstrably fucking stupid), so I get it. But with that said, no, I don't dislike Endgame because I wanted it to be something different, I dislike it because the songwriting is unmemorable and the vocals/lyrics are almost mythically bad.

But we're really getting off subject here, and that's partially my fault. The moral of this story is that Super Collider is going to be hilarious.

Reminds me of newer Motley Crue, so we have nearly the same opinion. In my case, Vince would sound like shit.

Why am I reminded of that Chris Holmes song, They All Lie And Cheat (or whatever)? Damn is this terrible or what.

Wow  I tried staying away from this like I did Thirteen because of how lame it was, but this is a whole new one. This wouldn't sound like Megadeth at all if it wasn't for those vocals, which by the way sound horrifyingly bad with that hard rock blaring riff. For those who haven't heard it, believe me, this is hard rock... bad hard rock.

Eww.

God damn that song is bad, I couldn't help laughing my ass off at how fucking corny it is. Saw it being compared to this Bon Jovi song and I must say the comparison doesn't seem unfounded.

HOW is it that, when Dave E. joins the band once again, they start to get...worse?

Yeah, it's getting worse with every listen, to be honest. It was cute and catchy at first, but now it's annoying already.

Not as bad as Risk, but if the rest of the album is like this and it flops, Mustaine will probably make an idiot out of himself like David Vincent did at NAMM.

Well it also coincided with Dave Mustaine beginning to really lose it mentally. No amount of Ellefson can save a man that believes the president directly commits mass murder just to pass gun laws.
