Damn, that song is like 8 times better than the last 777 release. I love the straight forward touches, it's utterly savage and produced with more punch than the reasonably straight forward What Once Was albums. Also it's their best sound in... ever. Why isn't this a real release!?!?! An album of this quality would top MVII and plausibly TWWTG.

The new Heatseeker album Heads Will Roll offers some excellent barroom brawling heavy metal. The vibe is occasionally similar to Bible of the Devil. Gonna have a lot of fun with this one.

Spoiler: show

excluding the guitar solos, this sounds to me like a mix of anthrax' got the time, danzig's mother and something else i can't quite put my finger on

Man I love this sort of dissonant black metal forced into a more direct and smoother fashion, just like what Svartidaudi did last year. These guys have a lot more atmospheric stuff, but it's still great stuff.

The new Ghost was really, really, bad and tedious.

Rorcal - Világvége

Their genre on their MA page is a bit misleading. This is a very good Blackened Sludge/Doom album.

Yay someone else talking about Rorcal. I think the MA genre is pretty dead on for all the other stuff, that new album is just a whole different beast. Don't think I'd call it Blackened, maybe Grindened hahaha.

Listening to the new Hacride album Back to Where You've Never Been. Another band I had no idea existed and I'm instantly hooked. Prog death with good clean and 'shouted' (not growled) vocals.

Yeah, I guess Grindened describes the new album better .
That's one hell of an album

-I strongly disagree with the two people who said the new Black Pyramid is bad. Swing the Scimitar and Onyx and Obsidian are two of the best songs they've ever written and the rest of the album is solid as well. Dunno if I see it on my year-end list yet but it's a damn good album.

-I also disagree with the people who say the new Uncle Acid is more 60's sounding. Maybe I'm just not familiar enough with what the 60's sounded like, but Mind Control sounds a hell of a lot doomier to me. From a quality standpoint, it's one of the best things I've heard all year and I may rank it above Blood Lust with future listens.

-The Formulas of Death is slowly becoming one of my favorites of the year. I could tell on the first listen that it was fantastic, but it's too dense to fully appreciate without multiple listens and each time I hear it I like it more and more.

Orchid - Mouths of Madness... Brilliant release. Loved it. I loved their EP's but found their debut inconsistent and at times boring. That has been removed and they have blessed us with unholy Sabbathian worship that in fun and enjoyable.

Absymal Grief - Feretri.. Mediocre release.. They have incorporated a bunch of growls, that just aren't as good as their amazing clean vocals. Instrumentally, its as class as ever.

I've been really hooked on the qTp album, U.M.A., which is one of the most original pieces of music I've heard in a long time. I love how it breaks down genre barriers and just enthralls you with an immense sense of atmosphere. This is going to keep spinning for a while. :nods:

I actually think it's miles above in style to that "other band". :p

One of the members of the band used to post here under that user name, and the logo is also stylized that way. Anyway, sorry for the weird spelling.

Digging the hell out of the new Rotting Christ. Best thing I've heard all year.

Avantasia-The Mystery of Time is pretty good. Not as good as I might have hoped, but hey, what can you do.

Still waiting to hear the new Wardruna.

Thrawsumblat-Wanderer on the Continent of Saplings

Some other stuff or something.

Didn't know that Thrawsunblat released anything new until you posted this....I liked their demo, and so far, the couple songs i've heard from the new one is good too

I agree! I was waiting for this after the exceptional demo, and it does not disappoint. One of my favorites thus far, for sure. I just wish the vocals sounded a tad bit more powerful. The effect sort of makes them sound like a whisper. That's a minor gripe though. I really have enjoyed the album immensely.

I do like the PTP album, but I can't really get over how riffless the metal parts are. Still its a cool mash up of styles, and the second song is a masterpiece, I just wish they made the riffs more interesting.

I just came across this band, they play some ethereal Black Metal.
This is one hell of an album. The compositions, though repetitive, are very beautiful.
Wish the drum had a little more oomph though.

Gotta thank you for pointing this out, otherwise, I would have completely missed out on it!

You're welcome mate. It really is a fantastic album, took me by surprise too.

Svart Crown - Profane

What we have here is some chaotic Death Metal with very good dissonant riffing, insane drumming and unorthodox song structures. They do slow it down at times though. The vocals are semi growled/semi screamed and suits the music very well.
SICK!!!

I actually find it pretty cool in how unorthodox and mechanical they sound. It sort of goes along with the sci-fi atmosphere of the music.

Well, they're as riffless as, say, Darkspace?! :p What I really like about the album is how it sounds so different and far apart from any other band, while at the same time reminds you of a few established acts. And yes, "Sovrarobotizzazione" is a massive song! Love that one. Anyone else noticed a similarity between "La Terra Rossa Di Marte" or "Droni" and the music of the Terran campaign in Starcraft? I can't shed that feeling, and I know it's weird, but every time they play I can almost imagine myself building Suply Depots on a space platform.

Since the new Wormed leaked, I've had it blasting in my car and at home daily. It gets better with every listen. The composition and musicianship is too fucking good. It's only half an hour long, but it's so musically dense that it feels at about the appropriate length despite the long wait for the album. And it flows so well from start to finish. The drumming..the guitar...the vocals...all incredibly grandiose. Really digging the clean-sounding production as well. The bass-kicks and slams in general are really punchy sounding.
