Magnum - Just Like an Arrow

Bouncy, synth-caked rock, awesomely uplifting and positive.

Skeletonwitch - Reduced To The Failure Of Prayer

This album just force-feeds you riffs until your neck is sore in the best possible way.

Personally, I'm pretty much a virgin in the realm of industrial metal. Well... I LOVE Blut Aus Nord, and I think that would fall under atmospheric industrial black metal, especially TWWTG and Liber I and II.

Such a romantic piece we have here with some of DeFeis' most passionate vocal lines ever.

Aw man, that is a tremendously good ballad. Definite stand-out.

Jyukai - Anata ga Ita Mori

Oh hey, speaking of ballads...

Demon - Don't Break the Circle, off The Unexpected Guest

This is absurdly badass. Especially the leads. The leads here are so gorgeous I would ask them out if I could.

My favorite ballad of theirs.

Heaven & Hell - Breaking Into Heaven

This is a really dramatic, kick ass end to an album.

Definitely. The last few lines are pure gold.

"WE'RE READY FOR WAR!
WE'RE JUST OUTSIDE YOUR DOOR
BREAKING INTO HEAVEEEEEEN!
WE'VE JUST FOUND THE KEYS
AND WE'RE BREAKING INTO HEAVEEEEEEEN!
"

So powerful.

The chorus does it for me. "High above the world we had it all..." Just so tormented sounding. Much more pained than a lot of extreme bands get.

I am listening to the opening credits of Mulholland Drive now. Haven't seen this shit in like 3 years.

As a rabid death/black specialist, this album impressed me, with Follow The Tears and the opener being my personal picks.

Speaking of rabid black:

Nifelheim - Bestial Avenger

Unashamed black/thrashin' goodness with NO regard for the fact that what they do isn't original in the slightest - and I'm glad they don't. Wicked, wicked riff fest.

Abyssal - When Paradigms Supplant Gods

The meandering, almost everywhere melodies in this beast are brilliant - along with the slow/fast rhythm that carries the whole track. Catchy, while still being brutally mind bending death metal magic.

I should listen to this album.

Bracelets of Fingers (The Pretty Things Cover) from (2012) Ulver - Childhood's End.
REALLY elegant album!

Eternal Sacrifice - The Twilight In the Temple of God Baphomet

Majestic black metal with prominent triumphant melodies (pagan/viking black metal) and extensive songs that explore themes. Their releases tell stories, which is really cool. Excellent stuff, I highly recommend checking out the band.

Alice in Chains - Rotten Apple

I feel like I just got sucked into the underbelly of a seedy, run-down city street. Immense stuff. And another notch in my AIC collection.

Rotting Christ - Fire, Death and Fear

This, and the rest of Aealo sounds great! I thought for a while that I wasn't going to enjoy the post-Triarchy Rotting Christ material, as I found "Sleep of Angels" a bit tedious to listen to, but this sounds great.

Is it any good? I saw them live a year or so back, but never really got around to their studio-stuff, what I did hear of Profane sounded dare I say a little characterless, but I might have listened to one of the less good songs.
