SO we all know the new Megadeth Album, Super Collider, is to be about in a couple months.

The Blabbermouth link provided leads to another link where you can listen to an audio snippet of a new song.
Now, I didn't mind the snippet, and the production seems good. I don't know if this album will top Endgame though; time will tell of course.

What is with Megadeth's crappy cover art since... well, Rust in Peace? United Abominations was cool in a way but it was the winner of a fan competition. This looks like something a garage act from Bandcamp photoshopped from a stock photo. Where is Rattlehead?

Anyway, loved Endgame and definitely didn't love Thirteen, so I'm not sure what to expect with this.

I'm not a Megadeth fan, but that cover really attracted my attention. The colours make it look so fucking pretty. It's seriously pleasurable to look at.

Maiden putting Eddie on ALL their studio album covers >>> Megadeth using Vic sporadically

It looks tasteless, hence rather befitting of Megadeth's cover art tradition.

I like...the artwork. Much better than all of their recent albums except Endgame.

The cover is strangely pleasant to look at and the sample actually sounds decent. I really like the production.

That artwork has an early 90's feeling that I like. Sadly, the music has been kinda stale for the longest time.

Ahh, beat me to it.

Anyway, the song sounds weak and lame. I know it's just a snippet but so far I'm very far from impressed.

Wasn't there something about, according to Ellefson, that this new album should be more in direction of their two first albums? Based on that sample, that's not the case. Far from it.

Don't artists always claim that they are 'going back to their roots' after fans complain they've lost it? They seldom live up to those words.

What you see on the cover is a part of the CMS detector, one of the great machines used to look at subatomic particles in the Large Hadron Collider. So this isn't the collider itself, but the "camera" used to look at the collisions. And the colour scheme on the cover isn't too different from the real thing:

Pretty lazy though, just add a lens flare and that's an album cover? Geez... The sample sounds like a modern Megadeth rocker song off of 13, which isn't a good sign but I don't write it off just yet.

Because a couple songs with a crappy guest singer make or break an entire album.

The cover looks like a stock photo of a super collider with some lame lense flares added in to jazz it up. I do like the colors though.

It looks like a stock photo with a lens flare because it is. The image is lifted directly from the image posted above in this thread. Lame as fuck, Megadave.

I don't understand why a big band like Megadeth does this. I mean, Dave could hire an army of graphic designers and illustrators, hell, some of them are fans who would do it for free, just for the chance of having their work on the album. And yet, we have this lazy as fuck cover art.

What if this is some anti evolution, creationism backing concept album?

I actually think this is one of the better Megadeth cover artworks I've seen...

How many times have we heard that from so many bands and it ends up being complete bollocks?

They did use Vic, it's just very hard to see on the OP image.

He's more visible here:

I like it honestly, could have done without the lens flare though.

Ill be damned. I spent like five minutes looking for him, but I clearly see him now. Im guessing he'll be on the back cover.

The album artwork is kind of cool, but from what I can tell from the snippet from "Don't Turn Your Back", the song sucks. Considering that Johnny K is producing again (Thirteen was ok but the album overall was underwhelming) and that David Draiman is going to be on two songs gives me very low expectations for Supercollider. Honestly, I don't think Dave has it in him anymore to write a good album, whatever was left of it was used on Endgame.

I guess being introduced to Megadeth through Countdown to Extinction contributes to this, but I don't mind the band's more melodic, heavy metal offerings. I love Endgame, but I probably enjoyed Thirteen just as much and I'm very much looking forward to this.
