The GARDNERZ (Sweden) Interview by http://www.cmar-net.org
By Ante Turic Anternet
The Gardnerz-doom / death metal band from the cold southern Sweden. The band was formed in 2008. years by guitarists Wilhelm. What makes this band special, besides the classic heavy and slow doom riffs, melodic and progressive parts, unusual for a world of doom metal. The band released the album The System Of Nature (2011.) And EP It All Fades (2012.), Both under the auspices of the U.S. publishing house Abyss Records.A 2013 plan to release 7 "panel Exiting Reality also to Abyss Records.
Hello Vedran and welcome to the pages of our site!
Greetings to you. Thanks for your interest, support and media.
To begin please introduce yourself and the band, for those who know what this actually works!
I am a drummer from Osijek and I played in bands such as Uziel, Savage Harmony, Insomnis with Zoran Misic and several bands at the very beginnings of music. I recorded a few demo albums and albums with bands in which I was active from '98 until now. As far as the band is concerned, it is a Swedish doom / death metal band. The originator of all Wilhelm Lindh, he is also a guitarist, author and lyricist of songs, and the job is shared with singer songwriter Niclas Ankarbranthom. There is Francisco Martin, he plays bass guitar and of course that I'm a little out of the drum. We are a small multinational team because I am from Croatian, Francisco from Chile, but lives in Sweden and Wilhelm and the Swedes Niclas.
Our up sheet in the Swedish band sounds more than good! How you could end up in that situation and how you would fare in Sweden?
I came to the wall, mostly unhappy past experiences and I did not know where to go in the musical sense. I played in many bands, but I do not have the strength nor the nerve lies, fabrications and those which do not appreciate my desires or thinking anything. Would immediately noted that this does not apply to Zoki because no matter how high, is totally 'down to earth' person, regardless of what was happening in his musical life, because he was the first person that people are targeted when talking about it. Basically I was frustrated by all of this has flown away to Sweden (as much as a man of 110 pounds might be dashing) to visit my sister who lives there. There I decided to review ads that ask musicians alike. So I ran into Wilhelmov ad and checked out the music that I hear if I could play it at all. I sent an email and a week later I answered Wilhelm, shared tasks, and invited me to audition and I passed the test. So I'm now their drummer.
What is life like in Sweden? From our standpoint, from Croatian, it all looks wonderful and very tempting, but is it really so?
And from my point of view everything looks more or less fine and good, but certainly not so. I have some opinions on this, I mean that we live here, we are wizards for them, but I am not always there and does not really know much about it. But definitely they are better than us. Alcohol and cigarettes are they expensive, it is true, but I would not be a problem to give 50 for a pack of cigarettes that I paid £ 10 000, and it took them a minimum wage, something like that. Generally they are very valuable people, but I was a little too formal in everything. It's hard to meet someone on the street because there is not going to coffee and the like, and there bukiraju two weeks in advance to come as guests. Of course I'm exaggerating, but not even close to what we are. use this opportunity to apologize for misinformation Niclas I said, which is that in Sweden no pasty. I was totally wrong, and it has a ga with cheese. I'm sure because my ga is described in detail to prove that I am wrong. Anyway, it's hard to get to him because I was in an unsuccessful search, probably circulated underground as cocaine.
How are you familiar with the metal scene in Croatia, and that bands allocated?
So of course I'm familiar with Osijek bands and see the guys working at full speed, playing and doing the tour. Are more active than the bands in which I played and I see each other help as well. Of the bands that I would mention are thrown to the dogs, Defiant, Warhead, Mardraum, Inciter, and Infernal Chaos Addict Tenebre that constantly come across, which is great, they are everywhere.
Just at this moment, as we speak, Infernal Tenebre appearance at Norway Trondheim Metalfest. Did you know about that?
No, I had no idea, and hats off to the guys on the persistence and deserved success. I googled the band Uziel other day, looking for pictures from the concert because I was all executed. I came across an article from the early 2000's Infernal Tenebre and I was surprised how much it is actually an old band. It's time to actually do something and someone goes to hand and I hope that they will be well paid for it.
How hard is it, in your experience, get on some big metal festival, regardless of which country you come from?
In my experience it is currently impossible because I've never played on a big metal festival. The greatest concert I played was the bike fest in Slavonski ship, but this is not it. I have no idea, persistence is essential and should be a push wherever, on a bluff, where flies flies without fear of failure. Not playing Infernal Tenebre at Metalfest because they fell from the sky, but because they have done something to achieve this. I think in this business or whatever you define it to go headlong through a wall to get something accomplished, and of course act as a group, not as individuals. From whichever government comes to the band think it's just as hard, just as everyone is struggling. Now if the band comes from Sweden does not mean that it is all served. The only thing I can think of is that their musical equipment when usporediš cheaper wages and have better access to high-quality instruments, that's all, but again the Swedes do not agree with me on this point. They were all expensive
Let's get back to The Gardnerz. Tell me more about your writings, you have in fact declared as a doom death metal band. Are the texts are limited exclusively to this topic?
I later joined the band, which is declared as a doom / death metal, and I can not say that I had no previous experience with doom metal. However, I think that the text and music is different from that in some moments. I think there are no rules, Wilhelm made a skeleton tracks, Niclas write lyrics and I put on my drum on it. Given that I have no experience in this kind of music, my drum is not even a bit 'doom' except in moments in which the song demands it of me. Some of the topics include religion, materialism, decoration companies, etc. I do not know too much about it because I do not write lyrics. To give me to write lyrics I would write about love, rainbow colors and butterflies.
History is one of the themes represented in your writings. Do you think that history is not as exact as what most people think it is, because it is written so and so, and can be interpreted in several ways. Can we say that each has a history of two or even more'' true'' version?
Of course I believe that history is not correct, because it was initially passed on "word of mouth" or something that we later called "broken telephone". Later, when there was an occurrence letters, newspapers and books, people who were in power and had the power to control what comes out in public, that is what the 'truth' people need to know. As such an example may indicate the song Shift In Thought which indicates that the Swedes original instigators of racism and that Hitler took the idea from them, that it is not taught in schools and it's all presented in order to hide their own stupidity.
Closely linked with the history of the religion. As much as the band deals with the subject of faith?
Pretty
Two years ago, you signed a record deal with Abyss Records. How has it helped you in your career?
Yes, that was before I came into the band, so I think that helped a lot. I mean, every band needs a record label and should handle CD and booklet, make a nice package, and they are costly, and then all it needs to multiply. The band immediately looks serious when he has a quality product or two behind and record label that helps them and pushes them forward.
Under their auspices are released and EP album 'It All Fades'. Is the album met your expectations?
Thus, it is a small 36-minute EP or mini-album, which is our second official release of the second issue under the auspices of the Abyss Records. I have no idea what is the opinion of the rest of the band, but I know that I am not pleased with drum, the way he played, but mostly hooks and still queasy about that and now I have all ignored. I have not had time to record, it was the speed with regard to the recording drum. But what's done is done, but I have to live the rest of life. You've also done It All Fades review and rating was 7.5 / 10 which is generally all that. I am pleased with the score, and I wish that the higher, but I am also satisfied with the current situation. Somehow, as a band we thrive in creative and musical terms.
What is currently happening with the band, and what are your plans for 2013. year?
Currently we are preparing the seventh edition plates Exiting Reality. Everything is recorded and for that matter all are happy, I still hook drum and still do all ignored. But I think that's the best we've ever filmed, the production is better than It All Fades, the panel will include two songs Exiting Exiting Reality and Reality pt.1 pt.2. They will probably be released in digital form and the course will be released through Abyss Records. Wrapper is responsible for All Things Rotten (Maggot Meister) a man who worked for the Children Of Bodom, Amon Amarth, Pain, Snowy Shaw, etc. Definitely made ??a brilliant job. Wider some information and some agreements for concerts in South America, so that know nothing with any certainty. Apparently it is some gigs in the 9th month. Meanwhile, prepare the ground for the second album, we have a number of songs and ideas that need to be polished and put in order. When all that's taken out and choose the songs I think we will go into the studio.
When can we expect you in Croatia?
Now that I do not know, but I'm in your head Osijek UFO Festival in July, and somehow it all first trying to organize in your head so you guys an idea then and by the organizers. That's just my idea with anyone I did not talk about it, but here it is what I'm spinning through my head before I put the idea on the table.
Thanks a lot for this interview and I hope to see you soon!
