So after a week of listening through the tracks submitted and deciding which tracks to use, it has come to this. We decided to use one track from every submitted project,

Only a shadow Remains - The Human Virus - 4:17
Oshiego - Blade of the Conqueror - 5:43
Dark Sacrement - Upon a Torch - 5:08
Hermanessences - Depise Existence - 5:15
Theophagy - Born To Defy - 5:59
Mountain Grave - Rage of Ruin - 3:24
Antica Arcana - Vacillation Forest - 5:02
Terestrial - Supreme Organix Archetecture - 3:58
Morbid Footnote - The politics of inbreeding - 1:56
Primal Order - Tears of gold - 1:27
Andrew highland - Rebirt of Evil (Demo) - 4:34
Nucleus - Biopsy - 3:40
Alpthraum - Nothing - 4:20
Blacksmith Aus - Deadly is the Cure (demo) - 5:00

totaling around 55:11, which should fit on any blank cd-r

Now I will begin to work on a black and white album cover with a fold over backside with info on the bands, I need everyone who submitted something to send me an mp3 for your song if you didn't already provide one.

Also, we should start deciding whether or not we should all use the same type of cd-r, and if so, what kind should we use. If not, then everyone can just use whatever.

edit: Also, if you submitted something, please give me the information you want on the back of the insert. (facebook page, bandcamp, soundcloud, ect.)

Sounding good, thanks for including us - I'll shoot you an mp3. I will say though, the band is just "Blacksmith", the Aus part was because of the email and because I'm lazy with changing things, haha.

With the info, did you want just a URL or a small bio/PR type thing?

I'm thinking just the url's because of space for now.

Where should we send the mp3 file to, perhaps provide an email address? And would .wav be better?

Btw it's spelled "Oshiego" :P Thanks!

Oops, just realised I don't have an email address for you, Grand.

And yeah, if you want a .wav I can do that - any file type, really.

looks good :)

Primal Order's weblink is http://www.primalorder.avorym.nl and facebook.com/primalorder

Morbid Footnote has http://morbidfootnote.bandcamp.com/

Did you need more MP3 stuff from me? cause the primal order track I sent was part of a file containing multiple tracks, did you already cut off the part you want?

and the morbid footnote bandcamp has an mp3 download option I thought. If you want I can send the files directly whatever :)

cheers

An email was sent to Big_Grand with the MP3 version for the submission for my band Dark Sacrament. Thanks for having us! If the WAV version is preferable, it can be downloaded at my Soundcloud. Up to you; we obviously prefer the WAV for fidelity, but I'm sure an MP3 would be easier to distribute vis-a-vis file size.

The band's link is: www.darksacrament.com . That's the one to use for now, despite our web-presence being a tad disjointed (read: practically nonexistent) as of late.

RE: same type of CD-R, my opinion is that this is unnecessary. It would be more effective for all involved to promote with whatever we can get our respective hands on.

Do we want to add a source release to the info? For example, for Dark Sacrament's would read something like: Taken from the forthcoming EP "Peccata Mundi". I think this might be helpful for potential listeners to target specific releases.

If you're adding the album name, our song Nøthing it's taken from the Chronophage album, just in case.

Here is how the cover looks, I was thinking the raw black and white look would fit this considering how it will be distributed, but if you guys dont like it I can change it. For the back I was going to go with a black background with white text listing the tracks and links, plus a link to the metal archives and some credits.

Not bad, it will certainly save people on printing! As you say, I think it does fit the vibe of the whole thing, although I'm not sure if being completely monochrome works, but I'll leave that up to others to discuss.

Also, not sure if you saw it before, but the band is just called "Blacksmith", the "Aus" was simply there because that is how I signed up, but the band is just called "Blacksmith".

So far the front is pretty much done, and I'm just waiting on a few urls and mp3's for the back. It's looking like a cd should fit inside this if you just wanted to buy a stack of cd's and print these out, distributing them like 7" ep's without a case, if you still wanted to use a case that would be fine of course, but this will open it to more people being able to distribute. (who dosent have an old stack of cd-r's they never touched)

You might want to right-click and view the image so it's not so large.

As I said before, Big_Grand, it's spelled "Oshiego", not "Ohiego", just pointing that out :)

What are you using to put this together? My only concern at the moment really is that the boxes aren't aligned which makes it look a bit off (to me, at least) - but if you are just doing this in paint, naturally that kinda thing is harder to fix :P.

It could just be me, then - they just look like they start and finish at different points, but years of doing 16-bit game sprites has meant my eyes aren't very reliable with this stuff anymore, haha. :P

If you meant the white boxes under the text, those are off, purposely for a more underground look. I thought you meant the front and back in general. I could align those boxes, but i thought it would look better if they where scattered somewhat.

and I fixed the Oshiego typo

Just to be picky, it's only a shadow remains, not only a shadow. Otherwise, looks nice.

Yeah, I meant the white boxes. Personally I think they'd look better aligned, but that is just me - others probably prefer it the way you have it.

Looking pretty good. Let's all do our part to spread this around. I've used this site for years and it'd be great to showcase all of that!

You guys should create a bandcamp page and put the album up for free download also. Spread that shit around via social media.

that's a great idea, it will make it a lot easier to distribute this way in addition to the cd's. I'm still waiting on a few links and mp3's, but it's getting close.

It looks like Andrew Highland is inactive, and I've just sent a pm to Hermanessences about a link, he appears to come on every day or so. If I dont get a response in a few days I will just take what I have and release it.
