If you are not into collecting CDs, how are there 1000 or more that you want? Shouldn't you like.... not want any? And your logic seems really foolish to me. "I want way too many CDs! UGH! Therefore, I will buy vinyl so I can only afford a few albums and listen to far less music!" Since we all know vinyl generally costs significantly more than CDs. Also, vinyl only subjectively sounds better to some people, to others it sounds like shit and far inferior to CDs.

Also I'd like to throw in that there are thousands of albums/ eps released on vinyl that aren't released on cds... so that logic itself is also flawed. You really aren't helping yourself that way. You should've just left it at "Im NOT in to collecting cds" That's simple enough for me to appreciate the answer. it's one of the main reasons I give for why I don't buy tapes.

Yea, that's the point I was making. It's an interchangable arguement that holds no water on why someone is saying they only collect vinyl cause it's more limited in the amount of albums they can get.

I'm basically on your side on the point of cds being a better format and it's mainly what I collect.

Someone had just pointed me direction of that Vampire, I'll probably pick it up. I like it but it kinda sounds like surf rock to me.

I was being a dick, sorry. I just don't like vinyl very much. And I guess no one is really limited to what they want to hear (other than time constraints and death), since downloading (and we all do it).

Please don't go around saying we all download cause it's not true. I don't download anything, my wife and quite a few of my friends who collect think it's parasitic leech bullshit.

This was the first metal album I ever heard all the way through, so getting this on vinyl is pretty special

The Gathering are my favourite band, so pretty much HAD to buy this, the first time superheat has ever been available on vinyl.

Other stuff I've got in the last few weeks has been:

Judas Priest - british steel and stained class CD
Rainbow - Rising - vinyl
AC/DC - highway to hell and if you want blood, you've got it vinyl
slayer hell awaits vinyl
And the new My Bloody Valentine album on WAV, CD and vinyl, though I'm waiting on the CD and vinyl to come in the post.

There is no help for you. All you can do is manage your addiction. You might have to take steps to allow someone else be in control of your funds to a degree to wheen you to a more managable degree.

There's always a few exceptions. I happen to think there is good reason to download, especially if the record companies are going to try to charge us $15+ for one new CD.

I really don't care what your reasoning is there have been tons of threads about why some people download for whatever reason. I really don't care. You talk about how $15 is too much for a new cd to a guy who regularly will pay $25+ if it's something I want regardless of how expensive the import price is. I work, I make money, I can afford it. If you are in a lesser stance in your free cash you can spend, not my problem, better yourself.

I want albums I like in my collection. I don't want albums I don't like in my collection. It's really that simple for me. And I also want to pay as little as I possibly can, because that's how smart buyers go about doing things, which means sometimes it takes awhile for me to actually pull the trigger on an album I like. I have a good job and I have plenty of money to spend if I so choose, and I do choose to quite often, as you may have noticed, since this is the thread I frequent the most by far.

Also, I didn't say $15+ was too much for me to afford, my implication was that the price of a CD being $15+ is more than necessary and thus the record companies are ripping us off.

I'm also willing to bet that the majority of respectable musicians and bands will be sympathetic to people who are less fortunate and not mind those people downloading. Henry Rollins pretty much said a very similar thing in an interview.

Just placed an order for a first press of belial - never again.

I'm going to probably want to post scans of this in the bootleg thread to confirm it's actually legitimate. Otherwise, I'm psyched to own a copy of one of my new favorite albums ever.

Hey man, I say spend the money on what you want. Save a little too if you have nothing else better to spend it on. When I used to have a job I would save half and spend half. It worked out pretty well! Except don't be like me where you decide that buying 5 reissues for 60 dollars is a better idea than buying one out of print record you really want. I feel like selling off those records now, because I'm stuck with them. 1 awesome thing blows 5 things you don't really care for as much sky high /rant

I agree with metaldiscussor666 see something you truely and fully want, get it. Unless you are stealing or using bill money to pay for your albums there is nothing wrong with spending your hard earned cash on shit you love and enjoy.

beeneNOLAdoobie, also you might want to try what my friend does, which is when something is released brand new and he knows it'll be of some value later on... he purchases 2 of them sometimes 3 and saves those extra ones and sell them on ebay later on for usually the cost of what he paid for the entire lot of vinyl. Something I wish I did with quite a few of the pieces I've picked up but oh well I have my own copy to treasure.

yea drumming, I'm not going to argue with you any further so stop pushing your point. I disagree and think it's garbage, it's nothing that I haven't heard in the number of debates I've had over the years since downloading started. I haven't changed my opinion in this many years, there is nothing that's going to change it now. Even if somehow if everything went digital and there was no longer physical releases... I would happily sit back with all I've purchased and enjoy that till end times. /end.

Have recently been getting back into tapes, after not listening to tapes in well over 10 years. Put some batteries into my ancient tape walkman and it still worked :-) Planning on getting something else soon that has a bit more power. Anyway got this tape last week. Not really a fan of Sigh's newer stuff, but for me Scorn Defeat material is a classic.

Got it from a UK ebayer. Ended up being £22 which I thought was a pretty reasonable price. I have no idea how much they usually go for but thought that the price was a decent deal considering its age.

Just bought today Voivod's 'Target Earth' limited mediabook edition and an album by finnish hip-hop artist DJ Kridlokk. The mediabook edition of 'Target Earth' contains two bonus songs, two stickers and I think the booklet has more pages than the normal edition.
