Does anyone know of any bands that really mix black metal (especially SYMPHONIC black metal) and Grindcore really well together?

It's always seemed to me that the two styles don't mix all that well. Black and death mix great, death and grind mix great, but I don't hear that many blackened grind bands.

I guess some war metal bands the I've been getting into KIND OF do it a little, some would say Blasphemy, but really I don't hear all that much grind in them, blackened crust bands KIND OF do it a little bit, since in some ways heavy crust is close to grind, bands like Martydod and Skit System, but still, it's more crust and less grind with the black metal.

I guess it would be easier to mix more raw black metal with grind, like first wave type stuff like Bathory, Hell Hammer Venom, or maybe early Dark Throne with grind, and it comes out kind of sounding like War Metal or Blackened Crust, both genres which I LOVE.

However...I cannot really think of any SYMPHONIC black metal bands, like later Emperor with more keyboards, Equilibrium 1X for example, or later Dimmu Borgir, or Old Man's Child, or Cradle of Filth, that have been mixed well with Grindcore.

It seems like the more complex classical arrangements, especially with keyboards, that these bands use just don't mix well with the simplistic brutality of grindcore. And when I say grindcore, I mean with less death metal in it, more simple grindcore like Terrorizer, early Napalm Death or Assuck.

Are there any bands that sound like a mixture of say, Equilibrium IX era Emperor and World Downfall era Terrorizer? Or Pagan Prosperity era Old Man's Child and Scum era Napalm Death? Or Dusk and Her Embrace era Cradle of Filth with Misery Index era Assuck?

If so, I'd be interested in hearing them.

I havent listened to most of the bands you listed BUT Anaal Nathrakh is generally the most known grindcore/black metal fusion band
wicked guitar, insane vox, and good drumming

Well, a quick search for symphonic black metal/grindcore got me JonnyX and the Groadies, and after listening to them, they might be what you're looking for.

Symphonic black metal+grindcore sounds absolutely terrible, but maybe the most perfect marriage of black metal and grindcore is Knelt Rote.

Earlier stuff is more grindcore oriented

later stuff is more black/death metal oriented

Check out Cara Neir as well. They mix Krallice kinda black metal with Noisear like grindcore. Complex guitar work, really frantic.

There's also Liberteer who tries to mix in grandiose riffs and symphonic elements to grindcore.

That drumming is a drum machine.

As for their stuff, the earlier demos and first lp would fit best as those are the only ones that have that girndcore flavor.

Very unusual band, cannot say I really was that into it but appreciated it for it's uniqueness.

Sounds like they are going for what the bands the poster below posted, like Knelt Rote, but fell a bit short.

Yeah, I thought it sounded like a bad idea too but these are some KICK ASS bands! Thanks for sharing.

I especially like Knelt Rote, especially the first track and think they mixed grind and black together better than anyone I have ever heard.

I liked Liberteer as well and saw that they have the singer from Cretin who I am a fan of.

Cara Neir was pretty cool, they seemed to mix in a lot more noise, a style I am less acquainted with.

Yeah, not really. I would say Liberteer is the going to be the best suggestion you're going to get. The only other thing I could recommend would be Dining in Tuscany, which hardly have the raw grind influences you're looking for, if any at all, though for some reason they get billed as black metal/grindcore alot. Decide for yourself, I guess.

Holy SHIT that is SICK!!!

That's probably the best grind/black metal mix I have ever heard, I am DEFINITELY going to buy one of their albums as soon as I can.

This thread has a few good suggestions, I also really liked Knelt Rote and LIberteen and thought Cara Noir was decent, but Dining in Tuscanny was not my thing, didn't like the vocals and didn't hear too much grind in their either, not into that kind of sound really.

Yea you better move on getting that Fukpig you can only get their material from them and they do short runs of everything.

I'd recommend Killgasm, Lesser Life, Phantom, Ebony Sorrow, Nuclear Blaze, Watchmaker, Chronocide, Siberian Hell Sounds, and Hadak Ura
