lyrically i'm going to be writing comical "pornogrind" stuff. already have some sick and offensive lyrics. might have a few tracks where i pitchshift the vocals too. this is going to be fun haha.

AxCx was grindcore but most bands do not take after them since they are very noisy and sloppy. They are more known for their lyrics and song titles rather then their riffs which are pretty sick.

I would check out early Napalm Death, Extreme Noise Terror, Agothacles, Repulsion, Terrorizer, Dead Infection, Discodance Axis, early Carcass and Brutal Truth. Good mix of grindcore bands. Guitars and bass are usually very distorted and abrasive sounding, tempo is usually very fast and drums play mostly blast beats. Vocals are usually shouted or growled.

There is an entire thread in the recommendation forum dedicated to grindcore. just randomly cherry pick names from there.

I'm joining a Grind/Noise/Sludge/Powerviolence band pretty soon anyways, so I may throw some lone demos down for this. I just don't wanna be too definite since I've meant to do these challenges and not had time/motivation/whatever a few times, & when shit gets going with this band I may get too caught up in it to bother...would probably be good for the writing process of some songs though.

Throw some 45-second songs together and do it!

I have about 3 or so songs that don't really fit with my band's style i can contribute to this, if i can get a good drum machine (any suggestions?) and do some recording i'll contribute to this one. :)

Make sure you record it to a click track so there's actually a tempo for him to drum to, lol

I finished two more goregrind songs. I'm having an absolute blast writing goregrind, and writing some awesome music. I'm up to 9 or 10 songs now, and no stopping. I'll probably have like 20 for the challenge.

When I moved into my new house and got my furniture and shit delivered, I pulled out my first guitar (an old Ibanez DT-250, best metal guitar ever) and for some reason I had these MASSIVE strings on there. I don't remember at all buying them or putting them on there, but they were way to tense at my usual tuning of C, so I dropped it down to Bb and it sounded awesome, even though the strings were a year old and kinda dull. So I guess this will officially be the lowest tuning I've used so far, Bb. It's not good for everything, but god damn it's got an impact and a huge bottom end to it, especially with this old Ibanez.

Yeah it is. Dude, I'm having so much fun with goregrind. Usually I fret about what riff to write, what solo to write, how to tie these two riffs together, let's make it to four minutes, blah blah blah. With goregrind, I throw in 2-3 really heavy riffs, some blast beats, and write lyrics about fucking someone's corpse or guts, or shitting on someone. It's a ton of fun.

That's why i enjoy doing my Shokushu Goukan project. it's literally just death chugs and blasting. Mindless fun at it's best.

Got one song done and going to write a few more. Don't know what I'm going to have for lyrics but it's going to be crazy.

I haven't even started on this. I guess decided to take an actual home vacation from the first 2 weeks of my vacation which was heavily writting and recording for a handful of grind releases and other assorted. so hell practically for another whole week I haven't even left the house. it's felt pretty great and I'm rather recharged. so tmwr I'm actually going to venture out and go record for another project I have in mind, do some vocals and perhaps see where I want to do this.. mindset wise.

I just finished the mixing and mastering of five songs, two or three are yet to be written and recorded. So far it was hella fun, i was drunk while i recorded but the result is quite decent.
However, some of you wrote lyrics, i mostly shouted something i just read (like a quote) or something that came to my mind. So my question is, do we have to write lyrics in this challenge?

Hey there,
Finally done with my exams, so I'm jumping in. I'll be doing some pseudo jazz grind; got three songs done already.

I have a bunch of songs done, and I've noticed that all my song titles are from the first half of the alphabet. I need to round that out some, so the next ones I write are going to have to be from the last half of the alphabet. Maybe I'll name a song Shit Soup or something. Rectum Torture, or Pee Hole Manslaughter, maybe.

I have piano parts too. Can't wait to hear it. I just have to write lyrics and do vocals.

I have no piano part but a jazz/ska part in song two.
Everything is finished so far, just some fine adjustment has to be made.
Cant wait to hear garthmargengi's stuff! Me gusto Hellige mucho!

Thanks pal! It won't be much like Hellige though, so hope it's not too disappointing.

On the other hand, can anyone give me some advice on bass writing for grindcore? I've been doing some stuff, but it always feels lacking to me, like it's not really grind.
Any songs you can recommend in which the bass is not obliterated by the producion and where you can point to it and say "this right here is how you oughta play it"?
SLK, come guide me in my time of need, o please!

I always blast out my bass just as my guitars. So if the guitars are doing some techy noodly part, the bass is following along. I don't half time it or only play some rudimentary root note shit or just hammer out on E. I really don't write separate bass lines that are different from the guitar except on occasion cause mainly grind is all about the guitars and the snare. So if you get down some grind riffs just play follow along with some distorted but not totally blown out bass and go at it.

Wrote and recorded a couple more songs. I'm up to 15, now. I might go to twenty or so, I really enjoy goregrind. I wrote a song called "punched in the prolapsed rectum", just to have some gory humor. Maybe if I have a total of 20 songs, the entire album can reach 20 minutes! Probably not, but worth a try.

I'm going to try and get a short "EP" (like, five 30/40 second songs) done in time, but my other bands are taking up a lot of time/I'm a lazy cunt. We will see what happens.

Indeed, I'm still on this. Have it done, but I'm waiting to get closer to the deadline in case I get a last minute idea.
So who do we send the files to?

Don't send them to me. Send them to infinitenexus since he pretty much jumped the gun with opening it up when it did though claim I'm hosting. Doesn't work that way.

Well hey, didn't mean to offend. I just wanted to get the thread started, since no one else has. Didn't mean to step on any toes or anything.

So I guess I'm hosting, then. Anyone who wants to submit stuff just PM me a link to your music, or PM me and I'll give you my email so you can email your shit to me.

I wrote another song, a slow one though. I don't know if there's any slow goregrind out there, but this one fits the bill, except for being slow. It's crushingly heavy, and I like it, so I think I'll put it on there, even though it's at a slow pace. Slowcore! Or maybe Slowgore!
