No, they're core, not metal. Also, MA doesn't strictly add bands that are metal, there's more than a handful of Neofolk side projects from members of bands that are metal that are only listed for that reason only.

Not an album, but definitely album related.

Indeed! I'd have taken a more extensive photo, but alas I have only a phone camera at my disposal and it wouldn't be worth it. It's a typical Manilla Road vinyl release, save for a nifty booklet tucked into one of the sleeves which imitates the original Metal release on front & back, and has a little write-up on the inside by Mark Shelton about the album and its artwork. Invasion has one too.

I'm pretty amazed that you've digested all those releases enough to know which ones you want to keep and get rid of. That would take me years of listening.

I've gotta assume you only don't want Iron Maiden's debut because you've already got a copy or two. What a perfect album.

Copy that. Hopefully you won't be craving the soothing pulsating bass grooves and ritual chants of that Om album after it's gone. Love that one. Other than that I'd probably let a lot of that stuff go without even trying it so I can't blame you too much. I do eventually want to check out 3rd and the Mortal. And obviously the Saxon and Maiden are 10/10 classics but I guess that's an original issue.

nah i won't miss om ha ha i like sleep though and i can hear the similarities
i'm not a saxon fan at all, like manowar, i can 'go with the flow' if they come up in a conversation but i'll never buy any more [of either band]
that's the first time i've actually heard that maiden album, i didn't really like his voice, i'm going to play it again soon just to make sure though ha ha

At Giza is like the quintessential Om song though. Vg album if you're into that sort of thing. What is your take on the Ragnarok? I've only ever heard Arising Realm, but I was pretty into it.

In the mail:
Dead Can Dance - s/t
Be'lakor - Of Breath and Bone
Hell - Human Remains
Children of Dune miniseries

On order:
Cathedral - The Garden of Unearthly Delights

That's actually pretty funny man. You've picked what are in my opinion the two absolute weirdest Manilla Road albums as your starting point. If you dig those you could explore in literally any direction of their discography and probably be quite happy.

Did you go to the release show at Brickmania? I wound up not being able to make it, kind of a bummer. Semi-related, did you see False play? Does the vocalist still do all her weird candle-lighting shit before they start playing?

I usually put them on my jacket since I find them suit better than just patches.

Might as well mention the albums I got for Christmas using my gift money. Mostly been expanding my epic doom collection, as it's one of my favourite genres and until recently I had very little of it on CD.

Candlemass: Epicus Doomicus Metallicus, Nightfall. - Figured I'd be a fool not to own the classics.
Atlantean Kodex: The Golden Bough. - Pretty awesome stuff, I'm a little shocked to learn a lot of people on here really don't like it, but hey.
Solstice: Halcyon. - I already had the two full-lengths, so I thought why not complete the trilogy and grab the EP.
Coffins: Buried Death. - Ballsy heavy-as-fuck death/doom is something I was lacking in, past Runemagick and Asphyx, and this album is pretty essential.
Coffin Texts: Gods of Creation, Death and Afterlife. - Loved this album for ages but could never find a good CD copy. Seems the release of their new album (which I have yet to hear) allowed for a few copies of the debut to land themselves on eBay.

Pretty lovely little haul if I do say so myself.

Did you go to the release show at Brickmania? I wound up not being able to make it, kind of a bummer. Semi-related, did you see False play? Does the vocalist still do all her weird candle-lighting shit before they start playing?

I went early and didn't stay for the bands so I don't know.
