Holy shit. Heard these guys for the first time yesterday and was blown away. Anybody else on here fans? I actually haven't heard a peep about them before on MA and that surprises me. But there must be some of you! And if not....you're welcome. Because this shit rips. Hard. I think my friend put it best when he said it sounds like "the fucked baby of Demilich and Timeghoul". Here's their full demo:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mRSesSiu360 All I have to say is, 12:50, motherfuckers. Damn.

This really strikes me as an amazing first release, especially by a band that features just 2 members. Hoping this is just a taste of things to come because I love the weirdness of this particular style of Finnish death and I'd love to see more. So yeah, discuss.

They've been mentioned on here a few times in the past, even had their own thread a while back. I do like them a lot though, I hope they have a physical release out some time in the future.

I think the guitar player posts on here, I remember seeing them in the promotional forum. But yeah, they're pretty cool.

The deathmetal.org blog posted one of their songs. Since then I'm throwing money at the screen but nothing happens.

Oh hey that's my band. Thanks a lot for promoting us here! We should be finished with the writing process this winter and we might start recording our full-length sometime in mid-2013. The songs off the demo will be re-recorded and we will try to release the album in both CD and tape format. Cheers. Oh and by the way, we have some logo shirts for sale : http://www.facebook.com/#!/photo.php?fbid=459475930760197&set=a.116167181757742.6662.100000933815721&type=1&theater

Hopefully, you'll do a release gig for the album, Phil! Can't wait for the first album of Phobocosm as well. We have a bright future for non-boring tech death!

I've been listening to the demo since it was posted and - even though it's a demo - I think it's one of the best releases of the year. Excellent work.

I enjoy some Cosmic Atrophy as well, but I think you guys are better songwriters.

Cory is alive but mostly busy with work. He makes music for video games these days, his metal projects are on hold for the time being. I think a game he did music for is about to come out or already did. It got featured on the metal archives facebook page.

I'd really appreciate it if you could send me a link if you ever find samples of his music.

You know what? This is better than I expected. If you guys do decide to release an actual CD I'd be more than willing to give it a shot. Anyone else thinks of Nerlich when listening to this?

Holy shit! I clicked on that link expecting to listen to about a minute of it, but I was enthralled for the whole 21:11 duration. This is really some excellent death metal. Where can I get a copy of this fucking demo?! And a shirt? Or something?!

Edit: Nevermind, I see that you have shirts for sale on your Facebook page. Expect to hear from me soon. =]

This reminds me of a game for Playstation from the late nineties. It was about a bunch of psychotic serial murderers trying to get out of a mental facility where they were committed to. I forgot the damn name...

Only a temporary thing. I've got a lot going on in my life right now, it's hard to pick up the pieces when there's a lot more pressing matters at hand.

I lost all my files in a shitty hard drive crash a few years back, including those for the next CA album and a few other projects that were nearly ready.

I'll be getting some new gear soon, I hope. Then I can do more metally things!

No problem! I didn't have internet for a couple years either, it was pretty liberating to be quite honest. But I'm back, and working on some really epic shit.

When I get a new guitar and a few other key pieces of gear, I'll be back in metal land in no time.

By the way, very excellent music! I love what you've got going on for this band. Sick vocals!

I've got Cosmic Atrophy files including mp3s of six songs without vocals.

Well, I still have un-arranged stereo mp3s of the six songs, but all of the multitrack recordings are lost which was a huge setback. Kind of lost the will to complete it after that happened so I moved on to other things. But I'll definitely be returning to familiar territory when I can get some new gear. Also whatsup!

BTW sorry, I don't want to hi-jack the thread; Chthe'ilist is an amazing band and we should all be talking about them :D

Awesome to hear that CA is making a comeback!
But honestly, I like Chili'thief better. And not just because Phil is in my band. :)

That's quite fine with me, I've never been one to care for the popularity contest. As long as people are digging this good ass metal here, that's what matters most. Chthe'ilist is really excellent, Phil and co. deserve all the praise and then some.

So is the plan to finish up Montis ex Dementia or do something completely new?

Sorry, I can't really put any concrete plans on anything just yet. I am leaning towards something completely new to be quite honest. Those recordings are rather old and I've came a long way since then. I see many things on the horizon, musical ideas which I couldn't have attempted even a couple years ago. We'll see.

But honestly, I feel bad for the unintentional derailing of this thread and I don't want to disrespect Phil and his awesome band.

Just now getting around to listening to this after seeing the name of the band around a bit online (mostly from the DDR forums)...this stuff is AWESOME. Great vocals, and those guitar leads are nothing short of face-melters. Gotta get this!

Listened to the tracks myself, and I am also really digging this. Is anyone getting around to creating a band page for these guys. All this attention being paid to them in this thread, and no page on the Archives to get all of the details.

They would need a physical release unfortunately, a thing you would know if you took 30 seconds to read the rules :)

yeah, that rule should really be revised. So many bands are bypassing the whole 'physical media' thing nowadays...

Nespithe is my favorite death metal album of all time, and Cthe'ilist do a fantastic job of capturing that dark, twisted sound. Needless to say I'm very excited for future material from them.

Also, I'll point out that Phil and HowDisgusting are both in Zealotry, who are pretty badass as well (and from my home state). News of upcoming Cosmic Atrophy stuff has me excited as well.

I want to reiterate what I've said before just to clear up confusion; I am doing something new, but I'm undecided on if it will be CA related or not. Ultimately it's up to whether I feel that it fits with the essence of CA or not. I don't want to do something I'd be hesitant against relating to that project.

Back to Chthe'ilist though! I've listened to the demo a good amount today, it's definitely really good. I can't wait to hear what you're doing next.
