Hey dudes, I made this awhile back, as part 1 of a four part series:

1. The Death
2. The Burial
3. The Rotting
4. The Passing

This is "The Death" and will be side A of a cassette with "The Burial" and I was thinking I would release it, as I'm almost finished up with "The Burial" (which is a little harsher, and more aggro)

Think 70s sci-fi drone epics, early electronic music, and meditative space sounds. Let me know what you guys think, it's hyper-minimalist, but if it's not worth releasing as a neato package, I won't.

This is sweet dude! Very rich sounding. What did you use on it?

The only part I didn't care for was the air siren sound, for me it somewhat took away from the distant spacey vibe. However you did use it minimally enough it's not that big a deal, it just gives it a bit more of a near-future dystopic feel.

Ahh thank you much, dude! I used an immense amount of layering on top of a synth piece I've been working, and a program called Ableton, and some random field recordings. I was debating about the siren-sounding thing....I made it intentionally low in the mix, so who knows if I'll keep it in....I think I like it (?) I dunno yet. But, glad you enjoyed!

Yeah I'm familiar with Ableton, I was more curious about the particular synths and effect plugins or outboard gear. Maybe it's also the field recordings but there's a sonic warmth to the piece that really evokes the time period/style you were going for.

I actually use this old Beast (king of kings!), Square synth variants, and a REALLY old oscillating pedal, and the heavy drone was a field recording of my microphone sealed in a pyrex cube and tossed underwater. Then I plugged it all into my Korg rig and ran it through my laptop and used my tiny Akai 25 key to finish some accents!

Fuck yeah! No wonder your piece captures the rich sound of 70s scifi. Me and a bandmate considered trying to buy one of these but we ended up getting a Little Phatty because it has similar specs plus the stability and MIDI implementation of a modern analog. Well, that and it had just come out so the music store would finance us haha. The Prodigy looks sweet though and sounds great on this track. I love the front panel layout on older synths like this, looks like it's really immediate and fun to play.

Cool idea with the underwater mic. Hit me up if you make more stuff like this!

I'm liking this a lot, really dig the synth sound. I would definitely grab this if you put it out on cassette.
