I need new music to listen to. Preferably gothic/doom metal. Can anyone recommend bands that are similar to the ones I listen to? They are:

Sins of thy beloved

Sirenia

Tristania

Darkwell

Siebenburgen

Flowing Tears

Estatic Fear

Draconian

Trail of Tears

Unsun

Check out Luna Obscura: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c2etsEF3z1c
They only have one album but it's pretty solid. Somewhat reminiscent of Draconian.

Tales of Dark from Serbia is also worth checking out, leans on the doomier side of gothic metal: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oPG4pN8W1gc

How Like a Winter only have album too, worth checking out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z9SB73v7EoE

Not sure if Tragodia is quite what you're after, but worth a listen to, definitley: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sI9yy5ZWa7o

I used to be really into this type of music a couple years back. Can't for the life of me remember the other bands I used to like though... If any others jump to mind I'll update my post.

To be honest, I haven't heard of any of those bands except Sins of Thy Beloved, Estatic Fear and Draconian. So I'll just be leaving a few here based on what I already know.

Virgin Black
Wedding the Grotesque by Diabolique (all other albums are gothic rock)
My Dying Bride
Black Countess
Maybe Bellator

for a good, promising young band that sounds like Draconian, check out Symphonian (yeah, even the name is a rip-off). But they do have something original:

Abysmal Grief, more doom than gothic, from Italy. Look for earlier discography especially

The Equinox Ov The Gods, vocalist sounds like Andrew from Sisters of Mercy, on debut at least.

Not strictly metal, but for a Sins of Thy Beloved sound-alike, try Gothic Sex's Laments.

I am looking for more of a mid to slow paced gothic/doom metal band with semi operatic vocals/or beauty and the beast style. I also really enjoy keyboards and violns in metal, it just adds admosphere to the music and gives the band a unique sounds. For example:
Eternal Tears of Sorrow - Sakura no Rei
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BBXQ6rsK8yY
Eternal Tears of Sorrow - Sinister Rain
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gz5LbdAc6Yc
Sins of Thy Beloved - Pandemonium
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=saUqEAhr_5M
Draconian- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sRTjsYa_1Lg
Siebenburgen - The Night Alight
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U5kpoUUl-oM
Estatic Fear - Chapter IV
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jPR4gLwXpZ4
Any suggestions?

This thread is crying out for My Dying Bride:

EDIT: Oh shit, someone already did post My Dying Bride. Uhhh...maybe some Virgin Black or The Slow Death can redeem me?

Ashes You Leave is a good female-fronted Gothic Doom band.
Did you listen to all the recommendations that have already been made? Sometimes, you get the feeling you're yelling in the desert on this board.

You might want to try the Myriads: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bNL2GXIRpUk

also Where Angels Fall:

You might also want to check out Trees of Eternity, even though they are not from Norway like the others I posted and are a much newer band/project:

Finally got Ashes you leaves' new album in the mail today, pre-ordered it so got a signed copy. Been too busy to listen to it yet, what with christmas shopping, packing to go home for chrismtas tomorrow, and christmas party later. Also with all this christmasy stuff going on in the house it seems like listening to an album called "The cure for happiness" might be out of place.

Anyways all their other stuff is great, seconding them.

Myriads, indeed. Such a great gothic metal band.
Also try Theatre of Tragedy. Everything from 90s Norway is good gothic metal.

My contribution: Angizia ( http://www.metal-archives.com/bands/Angizia/3036 ).
They make great gothic metal from Austria and are pretty underrated. They're a bit not that common though, but they still use a lot of keyboards, operatic (both male and female) and harsh vocals with death/doom influences. Listen to one of their songs here:

You should check Tiamat, Wildhoney should scratch that itch for dark music, also A Deeper Kind Of Slumber.

Slumber´s Fallout is a great melodic doom metal release, so powerful. Definitely worth a listen.

Hah, nicely tried, but he's not looking for gothic metal. He's looking for "gothic" metal.... :nono: :(

Johan's other band (Draconian) is gothic stuff, but Doom:VS is plain doom I think. Still a must-listen to any gothic/doom metal fan and a great band ;)
