No, there's no need to mail any demos unless you really want to. To show proof of physical release you can do one of a few things:

• take a picture of your copy (or ideally multiple copies of the same album)
• link to a post on the band's Facebook/Myspace/whatever where the band clearly state that they have physical albums available for purchase
• provide a link to a distro which is selling physical copies of your album

You won't need links for people to listen to to provide proof of physical release. However, you will need them to prove to the moderators that the band is metal, so include them in your submission anyways.
