How good are they for thrash. My uncle doesn't like it. Saids you need alot of pedals. The 6505 is to expensive for me. So I was looking for something cheaper but still sounded good. Any input?

Not the most aggressive amp on the market. Try looking for a 2ndhand Bugera.

With some tweaks it can rock thru and thru. I'm not sure if you can get a Marshall Valvestate (8080) in the same range of price.

I much prefer a Valvestate though. The most fiery demo of a Valveking I've seen still doesn't have that saturation on palm-mutes which I can get even on a failing Marshall 10-watt Valvestate.

Valvestate 8080?

I'd recommend the Valvestate 8100 head. Classic Death sound.

Yeah, although here the difference in price it's huge. I don't find both so different tho. Chuch also used Randall for a while.

The 8080 is the combo version, right?

Yeah, the tone it's very similar to the 8100 anyway and the amp has enough power to be used on stage.

If you wanna stick with Peavey, look into an Ultra Plus. Leagues better than a Valveking, and I prefer it to the 5150 and 6505 in all aspects. Amazing tones on all 3 channels and incredible built-in reverb.

Well, if you can, get a Peavey 3120. It's the most versatile Peavey amp I've heard and used. I used it for the Forestfather album btw.

The valve king can work OK just about everything, but not perfect for anything. But don't let people tell you that certain amps can't play certain kinds of music. You'll have to play with the knobs and find your sound.

Honestly, last year bought the Ibanaez Tube Screamer Amp Head, and everyone told me that it wouldn't work for black metal, but I was patient and learned how to dial in the sound I wanted. I wouldn't trade that amp for the world.
