I've seen lots of bands from the 1960s and 1970s with two bass drums, even a picture of the Monkees with a set like that.

But the thing is, drummers only rarely used the second bass drum, and when they did, it was usually in solos.

I want to hear some double bass drumming, solos or not, no later than the 1970s. Metal bands o.k. too, if early/mid 1970s. I also want to hear those jazz solos.

I think Louie Bellson was one of the very first to use double bass drums (and some blast beats too)

That solo is cool, but there has to be a lot more stuff out there.

don't have time to look, but check out big band drummers (as someone said Louie Bellson ) from the 40's, probably the first guys to use two bass drums.
