They aren't Metal, no, but they have a large fan-base here. And they deserve it to. I for one am looking forward to it and will more than likely purchase it.

That's great, I could have sworn they'd said they weren't making any new music. Wasn't really crazy about their last one but it was still good, as I'm expecting this to be.

I saw this on Reddit earlier, I pre-ordered the CD. Ace band.

Wow, I did not know this was happening.

At any rate, I immediately pre-ordered the 12"/7" vinyl combo here.

I am very, very stoked for this. The GYBE offshoot band A Silver Mt. Zion (and all of its name variants) have simply not been doing it for me, and the new Sigur Ros (to compare to another "big name" in post rock), while outstanding in its own right, was lacking the dynamic ebb and flow of their own earlier works. My expectations for this new GYBE record are very high, especially when reading over the (surely biased) description on the label's website.

Possibly my favourite Post Rock band.

Very much looking forward to new material.

Wouldn't a Godspeed full length be a 2LP?

From what I've read, it's 4 tracks; 2 long form (20+ minute) post rock pieces on the 12" and 2 shorter (5-6 minute) "ambient drone" pieces on the 7".

I assume this is to avoid having to press a 2LP.

How are their other albums? I haven't heard anything aside from F#A# Infinity. 'Tis a godly album. Most post-rock is gay hipster shit, so I was quite surprised by the quality of this release.

If you like that album then you should also like Slow Riot for New Zerø Kanada EP.

Lift Your Skinny Fists Like Antennas to Heaven is also amazing.

Is it as dark? I like the album I mentioned mainly because of its apocalyptic and pessimistic atmosphere.

Was super excited about this when I first heard about it, I haven't heard their most recent full-length before this one, but I love their first 2 full-lengths and the Slow Riot for New Zero Kanada EP.

I find they go for silence far too often to pad out songs, but I like them enough. I'll certainly check this out, still weighing up whether to go and see them live in a few months.

I would say that Yanqui U.X.O. is the darkest GYBE album, and it's certainly the "heaviest" in terms of both sound and subject matter, from my perspective. The Albini production is suffocatingly oppressive and crushing.

Don't know why this one doesn't get it's "props", as it were. I think it's a fantastic record amongst a catalog of other fantastic records.

I am really stoked about this. While it has been a great year for metal, post-rock has really disappointed me. Both Crippled Black Phoenix and Sigur Ros sucked hard with their latest albums. Hope GYBE won't disappoint

I am excited about this, and if it is at all as good as their previous releases I fear I won't listen to it album. GY!BE is extremely intense and draining to listen to, and puts me in a mindset I do not enjoy after the listen.

I will be buying it. Whether it tops Explosions In The Sky is another story entirely. Fucking love them.

Just got through my first listen of the vinyl. Fucking momentous.

As with all of the other GYBE records, I'm certain more layers will uncover themselves with repeated listens.

If you dug this band in the past, then this is perfectly in line with their catalog, albeit slightly more upbeat.

Seriously, this needs to be heard.

Wow! Where did this come from? I'm surprised this hasn't been talked about more. I hear it's really good. Can't wait to listen.

I finally got around to listening to it, some really amazing stuff. Some of it kind of sounds like metal almost, parts of Mladic reminded me somewhat of Neurosis.

You know, this album really let me down. It doesn't have the momentum, atmosphere, and urgency that old GYBE had. It just plods along for a long time and doesn't cry out for more listens.

Honestly I found this to be one of the more active albums they've done. It's mostly guitar based which is a shock, and while no, it doesn't have the dramatic string parts building to high pressured releases, I like the way it basically never breaks down into silence between segments which has been a calling card for the group. I would agree it isn't as urgent in it's more high strung moments, but to me it's the one with the most momentum, I loved it.

I just want them to make something as apocalyptic and emotionally stirring as their first album.

That album is the absolute worst for needless silence, album could have been 20 minutes shorter easily without actually removing a note of music.
