Number 1: Epic and Tragedic OST-like

I'll throw a example of what I want, it could be a Concerto or OST.

Number 2:Melancholic Piano piece
I really have no idea of what to describe here. It could be Piano solo, or piano + cello, or piano + string quartet, avoid orchestra.

Here some examples:

Here are two piano songs I found in my collection. I don't listen to much piano music besides Chopin and Mozart. There is also Goatcraft, but that doesn't fit what you are looking for.

Lantlos (mostly a black metal and post-rock band)

Die Verbannten Kinder Evas

I always thought Once Upon a Time in the West's theme was epic and tragic sounding.

Chopin and Lizst will have enough great piano pieces to tide you over for a while.

For melancholic piano, you really can't go wrong with Erik Satie. Two of his more well known works are the Gnossiennes:

and Trois Gymnopédies:

I was listening to Nox Aurea, and the last track made me think of this thread.

Piano music:

I'm seconding Erik Satie and Chopin (especially his preludes).
Jean Sibelius (he also has some great orchestral stuff): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cyHb9bkxl3k
Ludovico Einaudi is a great minimalist pianist: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EQcMvYLB8EU
Ketil Bjørnstad is this great great Norwegian pianist (and author), however his stuff varies quite a bit. For what you described I'd recommend mostly his albums with David Darling (The River, Epigraphs, etc) and his solo piano works: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SmMvv3QY9Hc

Orchestral music:
Elend: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WRp9_Cw ... re=related
Arcana: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cW3iws7jm-s
Henryk Gorecki for 20th century stuff: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zKk-w_0SpSw
Nobuo Uematsu: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8vCKFeO3nNs
Howard Shore: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=prZ4RWWku7Y

I feel bad doing this but you might also like some of my stuff. Some of it is orchestral or only piano stuff. I don't have much yet but more is coming and it's of much higher quality than the ones on youtube but here's an example: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wqhtw5wr59Q&feature=plcp

Start off with those and then I'd be glad to recommend some others. I'm really into more classical stuff and even work in a classical music museum haha

Thank so much, guys, I'll check all these recommendations out as soon as possible.

I'm aware of Chopin, but I really couldn't get into his music, I found a bit dull ):

I've heard a couple of songs here and I can say that Ludivico Einaudi and Nox Aurea songs really impressed me. I'll take a listen at the others.
