I'm looking for some death metal, preferably tech death, with noteworthy bass guitar work. I love the sound of fretless basses but it can be fretted too. I find that in a lot of death metal you can hardly hear what the bass is doing. The album "The Aura" by Beyond Creation is a perfect example of what I'm looking for. It has some of the best bass work I've heard in metal and it's mixed perfectly so as to hear every note articulately.

Quo Vadis' Defiant Imagination too obvious?

Can someone recommend me a band that would sound like a darker, dissonant version of 'The Art of War' by Vader? Combine this guitar tone: http://youtu.be/AUNHufICeJ4 with this type of song: http://youtu.be/RwGnTEIvl8E and you have exactly what I am looking for. Obvious recommendations are fine, if there are any.

I'm looking for brutal death metal similar to Putrid Pile. For whatever reason, that band to me is the absolute pinnacle of crushing BDM (by one person, no less). Something with an extremely thick guitar tone, and those mid-paced grooves. I'm not looking for super technical a la Spawn of Possession, although technicality doesn't turn me off (say, None So Vile is something I really like). Just the odd noodle-y, scale sounding kind of stuff isn't "brutal" to me for whatever reason. Rather, what I like about Putrid Pile is that the fast blasting parts are memorable tremolo lines that kind of have a sick or perverse sound to them (not the best musical description, I apologize), and the grooves following just sound that much better. My main problem with a lot of slam, and I do have a soft spot for it, is that the slam parts are the best, and the rest is kinda forgettable.

Vocals aren't my main focus, but I do LOVE Putrid Pile's vocals. They retain a super forceful, powerful quality while remaining very guttural and incoherent, and the alternating highs are a wonderful contrast. When layered together... Just awesome.

The one thing that would make Putrid Pile better is the obvious thing, a real drummer. While a drum machine isn't going to deter me by any means, it makes the music more awe-inspiring and exciting knowing that humans physically ground out every note on an instrument. I do think the drum machine on Shaune's albums is well done, but it would be a nice touch to have a person behind a kit.

ASIDE from Putrid Pile, brutal death metal that I very much enjoy..

Vulvectomy, Vomit Remnants, Insidious Decrepancy, Chordotomy, Prostitute Disfigurement (not so much the new album), Guttural Secrete, Skinless, Digested Flesh, Gorevent, Dyscrasia, Cephalotripsy...

Thanks in advance! :metal:

Can anyone recommend me technical brutal death metal like more technical Hour of Penance and more brutal Origin? Basically bands which are equally and immensely technical and brutal are what I am looking for.

Is it the tempo that mainly locks these bands in for you, or are bands not quite as fast but just as brutal also ok to rec for you?

Also, a band that's just about to put out their debut on Sevared Records that's local and I've seen live a few times is Omnihility. They are heavily Origin influenced push the bounds of brutality. You can download some songs (as well as listen to them) here: http://www.reverbnation.com/omnihility and here: https://www.facebook.com/pages/Omnihili ... 2405167945

You might also try Abysmal Torment.

A couple others that don't play that over-the-top tempo but very much rule are:

Deadly Remains - Severing Humanity
Pathology - Awaken To The Suffering

It's much more tempo. I need a fast tempo. Omnihility was good, and Deadly Remains was a tad slow for this rec but it was good. Pathology and Abysmal Torment were too slow. I know this seems shallow, but I want something with constant or almost constant blasts.

Constant blasting would be last days of humanity and Enmity. Pity there is no ounce of technicality in either...

Ok, cool. Glad to hear it, esp. about Omnihility. Their new album is entitled Biogenesis and due out this year.

Abysmal Torment was too slow? Did you listen to (their best album) Omnicide? That album absolutely crushes. Check out the tracks Gospel Of Maggots and Supreme Tyrant in Putrescence.

Another rec: Abnormality, esp. their new one Contaminating The Hive Mind, though I love their demo also.

Probably way to obvious but the new Dying Fetus fits the (drum) tempo bill for sure.

You can check out my list of BDM favorites (list also includes slam but it's designated in the description).. Here. The #2 spot is held by a highly rec'd Abominable Putridity - Anomalies Of Artificial Origin.

I'll think of some more, but here are a couple others:

A band very similar to Hour of Penance is Hideous Divinity: http://youtu.be/OcsntAinwYM

Though not classified as brutal, I sure as fuck think they are; Lost Soul: http://youtu.be/ESg8yupxp4M

Probably real fucking obvious but Fleshgod Apocalypse: http://youtu.be/TXkhl52B9Dc

Maybe Aeon, maybe obvious again: http://youtu.be/Qqf7g5Fa6Wg and http://youtu.be/SmwxFzO56fs

Maybe too obvious, Vader`s EP 'The Art of War': http://youtu.be/RwGnTEIvl8E

For fast brutal nonsense, Hate Eternal. Perhaps it's obvious. Azarath is more evil than anything, but it's certainly fast and brutal.

Foxx, do you know Impaled?

Looking for some brutal death metal in the vein of NSV~Whisper era Cryptopsy, Cerebral Bore, and Benighted - brutality, hardcore inspirations on its sleeve, and great hooky riffs. Any variation is fine, be it slam or stupidly technical, but the riffs have to be an ear catcher. Obscurity is necessary, but I would like something with at least acceptable production values (read: not LLN levels of noise).

Thanks in advance.

Brutal death bands that wear their Hardcore influences proudly... lets see.

You've probably already heard Internal Bleeding (and the second Catastrophic album, which is IB in all but name). Also from that scene came Pyrexia - in both cases, the earlier stuff is more Suffo worship, the later gets more upfront with the hooks and beatdown riffs. But you should have heard of both already.

A bit lighter and more oldschool, but there's Eternal Suffering. Early 90s brutal death meets NYHC.

Infected Malignity. More of a slam band, but its hard not to hear the punk influences when they go midtempo. Just avoid the EP, thats a stock deathcore release.

Revenance played some seriously hardcore infused brutal death. Aside from the pinch harmonics and a few tech-y breaks, it could almost pass for a hardcore album with BDM vocals.

Stretching a bit, but you might dig Terminally Your Aborted Ghost. They played a kind of techy death/grind that seems to mesh well with Benighted fans. Everyone I've met who loved one loved the other.

Here again, but now I have a different request.

I'm looking for brutal/technical death metal bands that do not write about gore and more on misanthropic/nihilistic/hateful themes. Songs about society are okay. Slams are okay, but I prefer that it generally has a fast tempo, and maybe with a bit of melody, and the drummer should have variety in the songs, not just one that uses blast beats throughout most of the song.

Probably way too obvious but Misery Index has always focused on society type stuff. I remember liking Dissent quite a bit. Pretty sure Dying Fetus stayed away from gory subject matter as well.

7 H. Target - Fast-Slow Demolition

And heading down full-on slam path but excellent drumming - no - fantastic drumming - is Abominable Putridity - Anomalies Of Artificial Origin

Looking for extremely simple Cephalotripsy/Vulvectoy styled slam. Bands that have no focus on anything other than a bunch of dumb slams. Preferably as generic as possible.

Actually, this band Epicardiectomy would be the perfect example. The stupidity is mind blowing.

Pathological Abomination has a demo out that's pretty damn good, if you can find it.

Pathological Abomination - The Genesis Of Disfigured Biological Mass (Demo) (2012)

Disfigurement Of Flesh - Psychotonic Abnormal Dismemberment (2012)

Begging For Incest - Orgasmic Selfmutilation (2012)

I'd mention Pathology, Abominable Putridity, or Katalepsy but they're probably too obvious. ;) You could try 7 H. Target, Bodysnatch, or check out some others from my list of favorite BDM/Slam albums here.

Looking for Neanderthal slam? I'm going to second Begging For Incest and 7H Target. So dumb, but so good.

Skewered - S/T
Devour the Unborn - Consuming the Morgue Remains
Gorevent - Abnormal Exaggeration
Short Bus Pile Up - Repulsive Display of Human Upholstery
Human Rejection - Decrepit to Insanity
Abnormity - Irreversible Disintegration (borderline BDM, but still dumb as shit)

Can anyone recommend me death metal with lyrics about science and with a spacey atmosphere to it? The best example I have of this is Lost Soul`s 'Immerse in Infinity', particularly this song: http://youtu.be/Xki4jKWVvWo skip to 4:55 to get a better understanding. I am not familiar with bands that would fit this category at all so please rec away. No 'core' stuff though e.g. Rings of Saturn, I want death metal. Thank you in advance.

Are you familiar with these? Not all their lyrics are scientific though, but the spacey atmosphere runs through the entire albums

Mithras - Behind The Shadows Lie Madness

Martriden - Encounter The Monolith.
