Looking for Hip Hop that actually uses instruments and singing like the woman in this or some with intelligent lyrics like MC Frontalot.

The music director at my school plays in a band (saxophone) like that. They're pretty funky: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5N2PetHZ9DM&feature=relmfu

I VERY highly recommend That Handsome Devil. Can't say enough good about the first two albums
These two songs are probably my favorite, but the music overall is very diverse:
http://thathandsomedevil.bandcamp.com/t ... ss-america
http://thathandsomedevil.bandcamp.com/t ... everything

The lead singer is a rapper who writes lyrics for this band in rap rhythms and rhyme schemes. It's the only rap influenced non-rap music I know of that has this style of writing. Also, some songs feature sultry female vocals: http://thathandsomedevil.bandcamp.com/track/cry

This tread screams NACH (he is from Spain), its a shame that most of you guys arent spanish speakers because seriously this
guy writes some of the most amazing, provoking, and intelligent lyrics in rap music.
Usually the beats are actual instrumentation, with guitar sections and trumpets mixed with electronic elements and stuff like that

this is my favourite song, El idioma de los dioses:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OPqS0Y5-2L4

i found some subtitled songs but of course its not the same...anyway...enjoy

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=27JOEwptAQw

this is a song mabe by many spanish rappers (the best in the world in my opinion)

Aesop Rock has the densest flow I've heard from a rapper. Assuming you're looking for English speaking hip-hop artists, that is:

That was hip-hop? Ok then. Either way I loved the woman's voice in that song.

I have nothing to contribute to the thread though.

The Roots. Their newest album, "undun", is a near masterpiece. Very subtle and tasteful instrumentation and great hooks. The concept behind the album is that it tells a rags to riches tale in reverse chronological order, which is a nice twist on a theme that a lesser group would make very stale. Black Thought is a terrific MC, and Big K.R.I.T. has an excellent guest verse as well. Can't recommend that record enough.

Seconding The Roots, they are pretty much the definition of what you're looking for. Not sure about actual instrumentation but check out Del the Funky Homosapien if you're not already familiar, as well.

Buck 65 (less abstract than Aesop Rock, but abstract)

Secret House Against the World would be a good album to start with, then This Right Here is Buck 65

Leonard Cohen cover with female accompaniment

So is this just gonna be quality hip hop thread? Awe fuck I actually got one with live instrumentation! Anarcho celtic hip hop from the bay area, ca, Beltaine's Fire. Fuck they got three albums out now, I'm only familiar with their first.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vd22KZbNnF0 I fucking love that song, fuckin metal!

But beyond that, there is so much great hip hop out there! I just brought up Lynx because you said "Hip Hop with intelligent lyrics and actual instrumentation" but if motherfuckers are bringing up Aesop Rock there are many other great rappers out there.

This concoction is one of the most bizarre things I've heard recently... too weird not to share. It's a mixture of Finnish rap and Finnish folk music, professionally produced, and gets nationwide airplay.
