That lineup is looking pretty fucking awesome right off the bat. Carcass, Manilla Road (!), !T.O.O.H.!, Pentagram, Convulse, and Venom? Great first-round bands, if you ask me.

So. Fucking. Stoked. Manilla Road is gonna be so fun and its gonna be awesome seeing Anteaeus/Aosoth, Convulse, and !Tooh! as well. I'm pretty excited across the board though, feeling rather scatter brained right now taking in this first announcement. Also pretty curious as to where this will be taking place next year with the Sonar venue finally closing down.

I think this is a REALLY cool lineup. I'm not very familiar with MR but all the rest of those bands are ace.

I know someone that will literally lose control of his anal sphincter when he finds out that the 'Road are playing.

Manilla Road
Venom
Midnight
and Pentagram

Excellent choices. I think i see this year being a more Traditional era of metal with bands like the ones i just mentioned while still keeping the extreme side.

Yeah ya shoulda been there. Two nights of Bolt Thrower in a row thanks to Pestilence. I think Manilla Road will really cause a disturbance of sphincters for many people. Some bands I'd sacrifice my sphincters for in the future: Demilich, Wombbath, Liege Lord,

I'm fucking going. Them alone (and Carcass is not nothing too) would make me go, and it's only the beginning. They have to potential to completely outdo themselves. I think it will make up for me missing Autopsy and Saint Vitus (and Pentagram in 2009).

Or while they're at it, get the big three in its entirety - Destruction, Sodom, and Kreator. I'd probably lose my mind.

Venom are kinda washed up imo. The other bands are cool though, especially digging Aosoth, Righteous Pigs, Convulse, Manilla Road, and Ahumado Granujo. Carcass, Integrity, Midnight, and Antaeus are great too but I've seen them already.

I am incredibly pleased with this first wave. Venom, Carcass, Manilla Road, !T.O.O.H.!, Pentagram, Kommandant, Convulse... Didn't even know Convulse and Righteous Pigs were still around. Pelican and Integrity are interesting choices but I can't complain! Only 307 days!

I saw a lot of people getting super stoked over Venom playing, which completely flabbergasted me. That band is so far past their prime it's not even funny. I can't think of a dinosaur metal band that's turned out worse after all these years. Still, MDF lineups always deliver; Manilla Road would be cool as fuck!

I'm wondering where its gonna be, since the Sonar was closed for being part of a big drug ring:

http://blogs.citypaper.com/index.php/20 ... indictment

So far, I think I'm gonna pass (hard to afford it every year) even though Midnight would be great, but more importantly I imagine they'll have to work the kinks out of the new venue. I hope they don't do it on some camp site or something. But I'm not familiar with every venue in and around Baltimore besides the now defunct Sonar, and the too small for this Ottobar.

Wowww. I seriously had no idea that's why the placed closed. To think, all those years I've made the trek and I never knew those trucks were filled with sweet cheeba. Shoulda lifted that shit.

It is quite unfortunate that the club seems to be slated for demolition despite seeming to be a successful venue. Business is shifting so the land is worth more money, and there aren't many other locations for venues, so the ones that disappear are not replaced.

So I'd never heard of Vinterland but after pulling up their page and seeing 11 reviews for a 94% average I figured a listen was top priority.

I'm barely into one song but I'm immediately in love with this.

Does anyone else find all the Czech bands surprising?

I thought it was interesting they've gotten so many Czech acts as well. Not a bad thing though....my experience with metal from Czech has been pretty good thus far.

But back to your first point, YES. I was really surprised to see their name on the list. Gave their album a spin earlier for the first time in awhile and I got pretty excited at the prospect of seeing that material live. Should be awesome. Really hope they get more good BM acts. Wish there was some way they could get Sacramentum to reform and play...that would pretty much rule my life.

Speaking of which, PAGAN ALTAR, HOLY FUCCCCCCKKKKKKKKKK. I might have an aneurysm when they play Cry of the Banshee.

Is the Maryland Death Fest an all-age show? I had wanted to go to this year's Fest, but I had to write an essay for my English teacher. :annoyed: I think I read it somewhere that some people drank a lot and got into some minor fights once, too. I want to enjoy the show, but I don't want to get hurt.

Yes, it's all-ages. It's like any metal show; people get messed up and do stupid things, but it's not ubiquitous. I've gone three years now, and have never gotten into a fight. You'll be fine.

Thankfully, I'll be able to drive alone for the Fest. Getting my probationary license in March, so I'm hoping for the best.

MDF is all-ages, but you're going to want to make sure you won't have any problems getting a hotel room at your age.

I know, but I don't want to come home with a gash on my face and everyone asking what I got it from. I have a confined social life, so answering tends to be a bit uncomfortable.
