The cover art looks pretty dumb ("bro-high-fiving black metal, CH-YAAAH!"), but I'm excited nevertheless.

Absolutely awful cover art. God damnit. I won't even consider the music being a flop after the great Axioma.

I like it, but then I would like it even if it was a pile of Norwegian dog shit just because it's Enslaved.

Same. If this album gets even close to as good as AEO, we're in store for a musical force of cosmic proportions. Too. Excited.

Axioma was an outstanding album. I've been a longtime fan of Enslaved. But I still love Below The Lights more than anything else Enslaved has done. Very much looking forward to this album. Hails!

I like the cover art.
I only just bought AEO, it sounds great so far.
But, like above, I too hold Below the Lights as the peak of their career. Hope the new one matches it.

I'm interested to hear new music from Enslaved, but that artwork looks like it could be from Soulfly's album "Enslaved".

Oh, right. Enslaved were supposed to name their new album "Soulfly". Lame.

If this is somehow not mindblowing, I will spiral into depression.

Huzzay! I like the cover art, It's different, and that's a good thing. And I agree with Necro, if this somehow ends up to be a major flop, I will be very, very disappointed. But I'm sure this will be another masterpiece, their latest EP (not counting the 2 song vinyl) had some damn good songs, and I really liked the addition of Norwegian lyrics. I hope RIITIIR will continue with that.

I really like the album art. It's simple, yet interesting, and definitely unique. I love their modern sound, so add me into the "can't wait" crowd.

In the Facebook link in my OP.
Quote:
“The album is, as mentioned, entitled ‘Riitiir’ - a self-made ‘Norse-ified’ version of the words ‘Rites’ / ‘Rituals.’ RIITIIR = ‘The Rites of Man,’ to put it in a formulaic and easy way. There is no story with a timeline; again we’ve built structures that lay above the independent lyrics that we feel more comfortable with letting the reader explore, interpret, or simply discard themselves.

Yeah, can't wait for another boring blackened progressive metal album full of semi-evil lullabies. *duck*

Considering how much improvement the band has made with each recent release I'm pretty sure this album will not disappoint. Hell id be surprised if it comes close to AEO will was probably my favorite album of 2010.

Hope it won't turn out to be too modern because too much modernness will turn me off. The artwork isn't that bad, though. Enslaved had worse.

I love the artwork, reminds me a lot of Carcass's Heartwork. This is probably my most anticipated album as of now. I actually think Axioma was one of their best albums.

I on the other hand can't wait for another amazing blackened progressive metal album full of some truly evil and incredible songs. Don't you just love the subjectivity of music?

The band has already stated that this record will have a rough around the edges, garage-y classic prog rock feel. So no need to worry about that. ;) Also, I'd consider AEO pretty damn modern-sounding, and that was amazing, so who really cares?

Woah: that description for the album, coupled with the fact that it is Enslaved, gives me extremely high hopes for this one.

Cannot wait.

True. Once great bands like Kamelot and Nevermore suddenly blew ass in 2010, so who knows what will occur in Armageddon 2012.

Enslaved, Yggdrasil through Frost, was epic. After that, they went downhill. I'm not bothering with this.

I like the cover, I dont know why but I like it. Axiome was a brilliant album, much more powerful and straightforward than the previous ones which was great for me, the last albums were too prog and soft for me taste, so I hope they will follow the same path.

The cover is really interesting, not THAT good, but I kind of like the idea and all... as far the music goes though, I think they will create yet another amazing album :)

 Inhumanist comes in here wit that bulllllshiiiiit. Nigga please. This dude comes in here and just shits over everything that's popular.

I for one, am tepidly excited. It has no reason not to be really great, but Enslaved, for one reason or another, have fallen out of my radar.

Great band. Tree of life theme album cover made of human hands ? Cool !

These guys are skilled musicians, like it or not, they are talented and good at making what they make. I for one look forward to the album myself.

Seconded. I'm sure this will be brilliant. I find their current sound to be more interesting and rewarding than the old sound, which is awesome as well. Axioma Ethica Odini was excellent just the way everything since Below the Lights has been.

iv noticed with enslaved, their sound changes greatly every 2, maybe 3 albums, iv noticed this with their black metal albums, viking metal albums, psychedelic progressive, less psychedelic progressive, their more pink floyd prog stuff, and now this. im really hoping to see something along the lines of what they did with thorn here, and mix in some progressive viking godness

Vertebrae is terrific but AEO is possibly the best metal album of the last 5 years. Will be interesting to see how this upcoming album fares. I can't think of a more anticipated upcoming release.

The artwork isn't that great, but I didn't find the artwork for AEO all that appealing, either. Enslaved's cover art on their later albums hasn't been all that good for my tastes (thankfully the music--the more important facet of the albums--has been exceptional). I almost wish Enslaved would just go back to cover photos of them standing at the mouth of some fjord with swords drawn pointed skyward, or just put Grutle (complete with arms/armor) on the cover again a la Eld, because let's face it: they fucking look like badass Norseman. Get them in a fucking longboat or something! :)

Anyways, I'm very excited for this album. I revisted AEO today at work and was quickly reminded of how much I loved it when it came out (I hadn't listened to it in awhile). Subsequently, I revisted Isa (the title track and "Return to Yggdrasill" are so damn good!), and then Blodhemn, and then Eld. An Enslaved-filled day of listening. It goes without saying that it was a fantastic afternoon at work.
