I've always admired Dub reggae from afar, and last year I decided to actively explore the genre, and spent a few weeks trawling YouTube to find artists that I liked. After sorting the wheat from the chaff, I found a few artists that perfectly embodied what I was looking for.

I like fairly simple hypnotic structures, deep catchy basslines, and heavy use of rhythmic delay on guitar or keyboards. I prefer instrumental, though vocals are OK if not too prominent.

The examples below perfectly illustrate what I'm after:

Creation Rebel: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yp5oJD8VxOo
This is EXACTLY the sound I'm after. They appear to be an actual band playing Dub, as opposed to a studio engineer creating Dub mixes of existing tracks. I like this approach a lot, and would love to find more like this.

The following are more studio-based, but also seem to capture the sound nicely:

Jah Shaka: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jrfe0p_zzY0
Jah Shaka: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6q_9LG9PSq4

I have extensively explored YouTube, so I know of all the usual artists like King Tubby, Augustus Pablo, Scientist, Prince Far I, Jah Warrior, Prince Jammy etc.

All recommendations appreciated!

Also, as a secondary request, I'm interested to discover any artist that effectively mix Dub with Metal. Godflesh and Scorn are the only artists who spring to mind.

Cheers for those; Killa Sista is excellent, exactly the kind of thing. Dub Mafia were OK, a bit vocal for my liking, but I do love a bit of Jungle, especially the raw early 90s stuff.

Necro Deathmort seemed pretty interesting, I'll explore them further once I've finished work.

Any more? Anything from the 70s/80s/90s?

qTp, if you were in here right now, I'd give you a big, sloppy kiss. That is fantastic! I'll definitely be tracking down a copy of that album. Awesome stuff.

Keep 'em coming.
