What are your favourite comedy lines or clips? There are so many, but two that stand out for me are from Arthur 2;

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yfP-mO_EfUk

and the late John Candy - from Planes ,Trains and Automobiles

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_akwHYMdbsM

Probably my all time favourite comedians are Laurel and Hardy, what are yours?

Jim Jeffries' rants about alcohol, and about religion are awesome, as is anything by Bill Bailey or Sean Lock

Rich Hall has been my favourite stand-up for a long time; he's made me cry in laughter every time I see him on TV.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ox1CoCHR1o8 His set at last year's Edinburgh Fringe Festival, surely one of his best.

I love Ross Noble. Really boggles my mind how much of his shows are improvised. It does make it hard to show sections, however, as it places it out of context and he does a lot of referencing back to stuff. (Like last time I saw him and he did a "thrash metal version" of his show for me and my mate, coming over and screaming whatever had just said at us every now and then.)

Rich Hall's utterly nonsensical story about how the Ferris Wheel was conceived as a mode of transportation killed me (one episode of QI, I can't remember which).

Jim Gaffigan's album Beyond the Pale is one of my favorites. Really funny comedian without being overtly vulgar, something I feel is a bit of a problem in the stand-up comedy world nowadays. He's playing a half an hour away from where I live in early July, so I'm hoping to be able to make it out to his show. New material on this tour too, which is even better.

Neil Hamburger is one of my favorites too, although he is probably a lot harder to get into for a lot of people. Not all that accessible. I hate the term "anti-humor" but his style of bitter stand-up is hilarious. Check out Hot February Night, which is probably the easiest NH album to listen to. His other new album Incident in Cambridge, MA is pretty funny too.

Tim and Eric Awesome Show Great Job is also another one of my favorites. It's just such a great show. At times it can be almost painful to watch but a majority of it I would say is hilarious. Also many great bug-out and fucked up moments on the show. A lot of great characters and the whole Cinco company idea is genius.

Two comedians that I like are these two:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=km-r8Db ... re=related
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7vzmdkP ... re=related
Not really intellectual stuff, but quite funny as well as famous; especially in Germany.

STANHOPE.

Kyle Kinane's a great new comic who's got the whole "crotchety" routine on lock with some clever premises and perfect delivery.

Most of the stuff from Dead Alive. A lot of the "horror" movie The Orphan, considering I was laughing so hard at the last 15 minutes of it.

Hey man, thanks for pointing out this Kyle guy, I watched a few more vids of his material and his stuff is right up my alley. There's this hilarious video of him ripping apart a heckler which amused me greatly.

I'm going to echo everyone who said Louis CK, great stand up, loads of material, one of the best. I also enjoy Steve Hughes greatly. Also everyone needs to watch as many Mitch Hedberg videos as you can find.

Hey glad you enjoyed him, "Death of the Party" is an excellent album. That heckler video is pretty class, if you like that sort of thing Steve Hofstetter's got some pretty awesome clips you might enjoy as well

Bill Hicks isn't funny. Never understood why people think he is.

Sean Lock on the other hand is hilarious. I'm not a fan of standup comedy tbh, but Sean is the absolute king of panel shows.

The guy was funny as hell and he also said things that are more truth then comedy.

I like George Carlin's stuff from 92 onwards (Life Is Worth Losing is my favorite). Bill Hicks was good too (I love the "I'm Sorry, Folks" bootleg video. The way he ripped apart the drunk bitch was beautiful). Jim Gaffigan's "Beyond The Pale" is cool too for a change of pace from Hicks and Carlin. Mitch Hedberg was great but unfortunately I don't own anything by him. I also like some of Patton Oswalt's stuff like "Werewolves and Lollipops" & "No Reason To Complain". the stuff he released after that didn't do anything for me.

Dylan Moran. I found the guy a week or two ago on YouTube, and he is VERY good. There are three long live performances available on YouTube, check them out.

I never found Bill Hicks funny at all compared to Carlin or Richard Pryor.

Same here, I just like his stuff cause it's interesting, not funny. Also, Moran was hilarious, thanks for the heads up Nap.

Richard Pryor is one of he greats that never captivated me, or someone I never enjoyed a lot. His material turns into tangents and then I just get bored. Very few times was I really laughing during any of his stand-up albums, even the Sunset Strip one. Paul Mooney, as much of a troll as he is, is someone that gets me laughing even though I don't agree with him on most of his points.

Like, totally. Are you familiar with his Black Books TV series? It's pretty great as well. His character there is even quite similar to his stand-up persona in some ways.

My other favorites include the usual suspects like Carlin, Stanhope, Eddie Izzard, Louis CK, Jim Jeffries (also love his podcast with Eddie Ifft), Mitch Hedberg, etc. And as someone mentioned Sean Lock is rather hilarious too (in both stand-up and the panel shows he's on).

Dylan Moran is awesome, and if you haven't seen Black Books do so right now.
Dylan Moran and Bill Bailey may as well be playing themselves in it.

I really like Robert Schimmel. A lot of people really dislike him. They say his comedy is nothing but dirty jokes, or whatever, but that's my sense of humor. To each their own, I guess.

I love Ron White's newer material. I didn't think his older stuff was that great, but I feel like he's getting better with age (like a fine scotch...See what I did there?). He beats the crap out of the rest of that redneck comedy whatever festival.

Bill Burr tells an awful crowd off for his entire set. They booed the openers and he got pissed off and so he just lays it into them, making fun of everything he possibly could. Ballsy and genius.

Seconding Bill Hicks's I'm Sorry, Folks. Absolutely legendary performance. "HITLER HAD THE RIGHT IDEA; HE WAS JUST AN UNDERACHIEVER" will never not be hilarious.

And yeah, Carlin is the absolute master. Nobody will ever come near him, though Louis C.K. has certainly taken the torch.

I find Dylan Moran good but Black Books was pretty dissappointing. I mean it had Bill bailey as well! So much potential ruined in my opinion.
