As the title says really, I'm a big fan of music, especially whole albums, while some some of story to it, and I was wondering if there was any good metal albums with a sci-fi/horror concept? Exact genre isn't massively important, I like a lot.

Nocturnus' The Key came to my mind immediately. A cyborg travelling back in time to kill baby Jesus with a laser gun and in the process enslaving humanity. ;)

Heavy metal: King Diamond.
Symphonic Black: Carach Angren, can't judge for their latest album but their first two are amazing!

Detest - Dorval comes to mind immediately.
Great old-school death metal and a great concept about the invasion of the world of Dorval and its recapturing. I never care much for lyrics but I loved reading them for this album.

Hooded Menace is horror worshiping death n doom- might like it (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QnOws4aacDE). Necrophagia also use tons of horror movie samples in their songs (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5O9XQSkp8DM).

Iced Earth's Horror Show is basically a collection of songs about the Universal horror monsters...and "Ghost of Freedom."

Both of Steelwing's albums are basically Mad Max-style post-apocalyptic ass-kickers.

Helstar's Nosferatu is about, well, take a guess.

All of Agent Steel's albums are basically about aliens and government conspiracies.

Toxik's Think This is pretty much a big take on 1984 with a tech thrash dressing.

Slough Feg's Traveller and Hardworlder are both pulpy sci-fi stories.

Symphony X's Iconoclast is a very post-human-style sci-fi story.

Nearly everything by Mercyful Fate and King Diamond are horror story concept albums. E.g. Melissa is about a young woman who joins an occult coven, and Abigail is about a Victorian-era couple moving into a house cursed by their ancestors' foray into the occult.

Bumping an old thread here, but there seems to have been a slew of interesting sci-fi-themed death metal/deathcore concept albums in recent years.

I’m thinking of alien conspiracy/invasion concept albums by Rings of Saturn (Embryonic Anomalies, 2010 & Dingir, 2012) and Xenocide (Galactic Oppression, 2012). I’m sure there are others.

There’s always been an interest in conspiracy, alien invasion/oppression in death metal, but it’s always been just one theme among others. It seems like these bands are taking it to a whole new level, making it into a whole “expanded universe” thing and also trying to incorporate the sci-fi into the music itself, which is techy, jarring, and generally cyber-loopy.

Why didn't you just post that on the current sci/fi thread?

I'd say the request is different enough to warrant it's own thread.

On topic:

Not necessarily concept albums but all of Funerot's albums are heavily sci fi themed. Awesome thrash metal with a unique sound. I'd recommend Invasion from the Death Dimension, Nova II, and the Stranded in Time EP first and foremost. You should also check out their final LP "And Then You Fucking Die, Man" which has a lot more punk / rock n roll influence.
