That would easily fit a shirt or an album cover for some sort of crusty bolt thrower worship, looks great.

Thanks! Speaking of Bolt Thrower, there is that one Warhammer illustrator whose name I've long forgotten, the one that always did really rough, spiky, dark images of Orks and such, very neo-medieval... It's quite possible some of his style seeped into my work back in my formative years as I used to be really into Warhammer material.

Excellent work Levi. Have you ever exhibited your work? Great use of a subdued pallette and I like that your work is thought provoking, Kafkaesque even.

Thank you guys ;)

I made only one exhibition so far. It seems that some people does not know what they should think when they see the pictures. First a cautious smile and then a big question in their expression. One girl liked a picture so much that she would buy it but she also said it´s to depressive for her. Maybe i hit a small line between "looks funny" and "displeasing".

But i want to make another exhibition and paint further.

By the way, i really like Kafkas work. But i haven´t it in mind as i painted these pictures.

That's cool. I wish I could exhibit more often. They're a bitch to put together but all worth it if you get a good turn out and if you get reactions from your guests. I recently had one with two other classmates, a sculptor and a photographer. I always include both class work and stuff I do at home. These are some of the pieces I included. I wish I could show more detail but my camera sucks.

Great pictures!! I like the first and the third!

My problem is a really dislike to be under people ;)

That makes it not that easy for me to exhibit my work. And ordinary i really don´t want to explain what i paint. The visitors should use their own thoughts, thats why i also don´t want to use names for my pictures.

The best would be to find someone who does the marketing stuff for me :)

Damn, dude. I checked your deviantART, that's some top-notch work you're doing. Have you ever been commissioned by a death metal band?

Thanks man,
I work as a book illustrator but never been commissioned to make a cover for a metal band. I would love to make one in the future, if given a chance.

@nekuomanteia, thank you!

And this is one of my favorite hope you guys like it.

I've been sketching a bit more since I started working at this tattoo shop. I have an hour-long subway commute, which in itself sucks, but it's kind of advantageous in that I get to listen to a lot of metal and sometimes draw. Today I put pen to paper and for some reason this emerged.

Image

At first it was just a rough sketch, but I got kind of obsessed with the details of the blood, the twisted flesh around the spearhead, stuff like that, until it became a pretty nicely developed drawing. It's not often I draw representational stuff like this off the top of my head, so it was a refreshing session. :)

Almost looks like an etching, actually. Like some pulp horror fusion of Dürer and Goya.

Holy shit! Can my band use that for our demo album cover?

@nahtanoj Thats some great work, man. I really like your style. Your stuff looks like it would really make great artwork for black metal bands, especially something like Darkspace.

A couple new paintings I did/am doing now:
Image
Divine in end scene of Pink Flamingos, with mouth full of dog shit.
Image
Work in progress of HP Lovecraft. I am going to change background color and get rid of all but one tentacle.
Image
Work in progress of Dead.

Trying to work on technique, just getting back into oil paints after a long break.

I might be down if there were filthy lucre in the deal, FD. I have tattoo training, as well, so that might help in one way or another.

Of course I'd compensate you. Really? Like I am going to try and snag free shit? I know how getting fucked out of freelance work feels!

Freelance is a whole different story I guess, but:
Frowning upon how even mediocre artists are charging horrendous sums for their work and really seeing people actually willing to pay that money I'm slowly getting the feeling that I might be having a rigged sense of value. I do not mean to sound like some pseudo-dedicated art-farter, but just thinking about the fact that someone might like my work to the point he's willing to use it for something of importance to him already satisfies me as a hobby artist.

Thank you : )
Although the same could have easily been done with photoshop, this one was painted using Corel Painter 12. I wasn't using any particularily fancy brushes though. I never do when I paint portraits. Pattern/Texture brushes are quite helpful when it comes to landscapes though.

This is my latest sketch book entry. I was revising some simple lighting/head perspective since I hadn't touched the pencil for a few weeks (final exams, heh). No ref of course.
