are we capitalizing genres? I thought that we shouldn't do that (as we don't capitalize instruments, for example), but then I realized that all bands seem to have their genres capitalized.

As there will no (?) genre per release section, why not do something like it is being done in Kongregate.
http://www.kongregate.com/games/Hyptosi ... ian-3/tags
Those who would like to sabotage entries can be dealt with a history thing like it is being done on the normal sites.

I've mentioned this before; I find it a bit ridiculous. It's even more annoying that I can no longer see when my works were originally submitted. Perhaps the date field at the bottom could display something like "-MalignantThrone, month/day/year [edited month/day/year]"?

Yeah, I've submitted a report about it, though that might take a while to be fixed.

Hello,

I want to add a band member under the name 'John' to the line-up of a certain band, the member is also active in another band. Any hint how I can find the member without having to search the 1500+ members under the same name!

Try and cheat like I do: Just put a bullshit name in the other "John's" "real name" field, search for it, add the member, and switch it back. :)

Ugly technique, but it saves getting eye-strain from pouring through literally hundreds of pages.

Uhm... Why was the label "Infinite Regress" deleted? I've noticed Invalid Label Links, and the label existed in version 1 of the site... D:

I've readded it and I'm fixing all the bands/demos that were unlinked from the label being deleted. I can't for the life of me figure out why anybody would do and do that; they're an independent label off the west coast of Queensland, Australia... Not the biggest name in Australian music, but do they have to be?

Noticed a band in the queue that said the artist's name was to be always presented in uppercase... :S

(Sorry to bump the thread a third time; maybe we should sticky this?)

Yes.

I've deleted 600 "dummy labels" last weekend and it seems that Infinite Regress was one of them. Ops! Sorry for that.

There might be a few exception around. I don't really mind it.

There aren't 1500+ plain "Johns", but only 100. The results are ordered by artist name and then by country. It should take you more than thirty seconds to find him.

The site won't allow me to change the label for a band. I'm trying to change the label for a certain band but every time I click the "apply this label" button, nothing happens.

just encountered a little bug while adding some album line-ups

ex: Stürm Kommand (EP 2006) while entering Alexander (all instruments, vocals) "This artist is already present in this line-up. To add information, just edit the line or click the + icon ("add year range / instrument")."

well present where? there was nothing

Same for Bleeding Black (Bgr too) I can't add bassist to demo line-up, same message

Review link bug -->

I click on the "Reviews" tab for Hantises by Frozen Shadows (located here: http://www.metal-archives.com/albums/Fr ... ises/38288) and select the magnifying-glass "Read" icon next to Hate Forest's review. I am then directed to a review of Hagal's Sterbender Traum instead of the review I actually want to read. Note that the URL I am directed to is as follows: http://www.metal-archives.com/reviews/F ... ate_Forest

Has anyone else experienced this and is there any way to fix it? Thanks!!

Evidence section for the reports
I did some reports and especially those from visitors add odd, because they generally lack evidence ... it would be nice to have some sort of 'evidence' field or the sort, in which the users can c/p or link to the proper informaiton.

It is impossible to add the bass player. An error message appears, which states that the musician was added there already.

Same error:

I've already reported both albums a week ago or so.

I've requested a "Evidence field".

One thing: Why are there two things for past member?

First there is the "Past member" option and then it is possible to click on "show legacy lineup". Are both maintained at the same time when someone enters a new ex-member name? Or will one option (the legacy option) die in the future?

I think you're misunderstanding the term "legacy" here. The legacy lineup is not for past members, it's just the old lineup field from v1. Once it's transferred to the new system it can be cleared (and has been for many bands already). Eventually, all such legacies will be gone from the site.

Yeah, I know that, but maybe inexperienced users who don't know a lot may miss that.

Now it's happening on page 6. It seems that there is a band that fucked up that page somehow.

I've just figured it out, it was this band: http://www.metal-archives.com/band/prev ... 3540331687

It was called Lost In The Delusion Called "Life" (note the quotes). I removed the quotes and the list works again.

When I try to add new releases the label search won't work for me. When the search box comes up and I enter the label name, it says "There really exists a label with this name: Apply this label," but nothing else comes up. When I click on "Apply this label" nothing happens. I'm using Internet Explorer.

I just added Target's new album Knot of Centipedes (Chile) and realized I made two small mistakes, the second song, Oxymoron, I wrote the name Oximoron, and the album title, I wrote "Knot Of Centipedes" when it should be "Knot of Centipedes", the capital letter... so, small mistakes, I thought "is ok, I can correct them later" but now I try to edit the info and I just can't, the edit link does send me to another page but I can't edit anything there besides the song lyrics... do I need some more points to edit such stuff? I did read the rules but found nothing, also tried to edit the band info in general cause it needs a serious update but I can't... dunno if it's a bug or is part of some rule I'm not aware of, if any of the mods can fix it for me in case I can't then cool, is just those 2 mistakes :)

Read this:

Quote:
Access

Here's a brief explanation of how ranks work:

All members can add new data, regardless of rank.
All ranks below Veteran have no significance and serve only for amusement, or monitoring each member's activity.
Only members with a rank of Veteran or higher can update existing data, and with limits (see updates section).
Only members with a rank of Metal freak or higher can update certain fields: artist aliases, label names, album titles.
Only members with a rank of Metal freak or higher can delete album tracks, change categories of submitted reports, and ignore discography locks.
Only members with a rank of Metal lord or higher can act as a moderator (accept or reject submissions, near-total data control).
Only the webmasters (e.g. Metal Goddess) have complete control over the site's content.
Earning or losing points will not change a member's rank if it's Metal lord or above.
You cannot reach the rank of Metal lord or higher by simply earning points.
Only the webmasters can promote a user to a rank of Metal lord.
Do NOT ask us to become a moderator/Metal lord, especially if we don't know you.

Swedish death metal band Entrails (there's two of them... the one I'm refering to is the one that's still active). They're currently signed to Dark Descent Records and I wanted their page to reflect that. I'm using Internet Explorer (I'm assuming I can only do this on Firefox or Google Chrome, right?). Sorry I took so long to respond.
