So I have been listening to alot of Watain lately... and I am scrambling to find other bands that have the rock influenced black metal sound.
Nachtmystium touches on it, Tsujder as well. Other examples of the sound I am looking for.. newer Enslaved, Darkthrone, and Venom.. I know that I am naming all the big names, but I haven't been able to dig deep enough to find what I am looking for. Thus why I am asking here.

Summary:

Black Metal influenced rock
rock influenced black metal.

cheers

Do Lik count? I'd recommend starting with their debut album. The latest isn't half bad either.

Carpathian Forest kind of pioneered the whole black'n'roll thing.

Craft is very rock-influenced, too.

Forgotten Woods -- Influenced by the more psychedelic end of things...not romping around kind of music so much, more reflective, but you'll hear lots of rock if you listen well. Also check out the followup band Joyless.

Grand Belial's Key -- Many nods to heavy metal and punk, lots of rock in there.

Countess -- Again, very much heavy metal, but yo'ull find lots of riffs at home in the rock 'n' roll environment, especially on their albums that follow Shining Sords of Hate.

Some stuff by Forgotten Tomb has rock influences, especially in their later stuff.

Shining's later albums. Check out V: Halmstad. Wicked album.

Anything by Vreid. Great black n roll, with some progressive tendencies.

Bathory's first 3 albums is an obvious rec. Early Sodom as well.

As previously mentioned, Vreid is the shit. I'd also suggest Aura Noir, and if you like Watain, chances are very good you'd like Dissection - one of their biggest influences.

No mention of Impaled Nazarene means this thread is fail.
Their first few were black with some death undertones (although the ROCK was there too), but the rock influence has become more and more pronounced as they've progressed. At this point it's like a more aggressive version of what Satyricon's doing.

My second suggestion is Scum. Members of Emperor, Amen, and Turbonegro = pure blackened punk win.

Khold's discography gets more "rockin" as you go toward their most recent stuff. They play a fairly slow kind of black metal and have very independent bass work on most songs. A few of their works are catchy, in part due to the rock kind of structure and focus on a hook, but the music never really does anything remarkable for me.

You know, Craft has a nice clip of their "upcoming" albulm Void that you can listen to here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gABPK2qxr-I

You get a glimpse of a rock kind of solo and almost a hint that they will be a little less Darkthroney. Maybe.
