Various Artists -Whom The Moon a Nightsong Sings 2CD Digipack

"Whom The Moon A Nightsong Sings" is a compilation of rare value – not only because of the fact that this is one of the few conceptual compilations that are based around a central theme and where the choice of artists present was subjected to a rigid selection. No, "Whom The Moon A Nightsong Sings" is a two-CD collection with a playing time of over 100 minutes that unites all the main players and the most promising newcomers of a nameless genre that is defined by (mostly) acoustic musical settings of nature's sceneries and impressions, or of personal sentiments mirrored in nature. This profound respect and a deeply romantic magical and mystical perception of nature are the common denominator of all the featured artists and the thematic foundation of their contributions. The fact that nearly all of the songs included here are either exclusive to this project or rare tracks that aren't otherwise available anymore serves to emphasize the extraordinary character of this release.
One of the highlights on "Whom The Moon A Nightsong Sings" is certainly Empyrium's contribution – the ensemble's first new recording in four years and the impressive beginning of a new creative period. Also featured are the genre's founding fathers, Ulver, with a very rare recording from 1997: their track 'Synen' was only featured on a very limited underground compilation and is probably the Norwegians' most sought-after song. The contributions by bands such as October Falls, Nest, or Neun Welten – artists who have forged the genre's identity in the last ten years and have become major points of reference for lovers of dark, nature-attuned acoustic music – or by as-yet unknown quantities such as the British project Nhor or Syven from Finland are also delivering the goods and certainly bear comparison with the genre's founding fathers. The enchanting cover artwork courtesy of Fursy Teyssier (Les Discrets) tops off a release that, because of its musical content, is certainly going to remain a unique and unrivalled audio document for a long time.

Check http://www.lethalconflict.com for track listings, cover art, myspace/last.fm links and more.

Sole Remedy – Apoptosis CD €12
A Finnish band – what do they sound like? With scattered bits of Dream Theater, present-day Katatonia and post-Tuonela Amorphis, Sole Remedy is essentially prog metal with a high dose of melancholic atmosphere. Apoptosis is a solid mixture of headbanging melodic metal and an occasionally depressive mood with a genuinely enjoyable mixture of clean and harsh vocal styles. (MStorm)

Delain - Lucidity digipack €13.90 [Sensory Records]

Following the success of Delain's album April Rain (on Roadrunner), Sensory is pleased to present the definitive edition of the band's debut album featuring 4 bonus tracks. After his departure from Within Temptation, keyboardist Martijn Westerholt conceived Delain as a symphonic metal studio project and Lucidity is the result. Featured guests include Marco Hietala (Nightwish), Sharon Den Adel (Within Temptation), Liv Kristine (Leaves' Eyes), and Ad Sluijter (Epica) among others.

Manticora - Safe CD €12.00 [Nightmare Records]

Seventh full length album from this power metal band from Denmark. The band blends influences from epic, progressive and thrash metal into a cohesive mixture. Tempo shifts and rhythm changes keep the songs interesting. Searing guitars highlight the songs as Lars Larsen's unique vocals weave up and down the scales.
This album is a bit heavier and darker than their previous efforts and will appeal to a broader audience. This shift in musical focus directly contrasts the album title and is anything but a "Safe" approach.(Metal Life)

2. Silence The Freedom
3. Complete
4. From The Pain Of Loss (I Learned About The Truth)

Annihilator - Refresh The Demon (reissue) €13.00
http://www.last.fm/music/Annihilator
Refresh the Demon is the best of the experimental Annihilator albums (KotK-Remains) though by the end of the day, it’s generally unremarkable. It is important; however, as the album to establish the ‘modern’ Annihilator sound. Taking the better, heavier elements from the King of the Kill album, Waters re-established the base Annihilator sound, and it is from this album that many of the later albums’ recycled riffs would spring from, as opposed to say the Never Neverland album.

Bilocate - Sudden Death Syndrome (slipcase reissue) €10.20
http://www.myspace.com/bilocate
http://www.facebook.com/Bilocate
http://www.last.fm/music/Bilocate
It’s doomy, gloomy, depressive type stuff with big, booming and slow riffs, low growls and quite a moving sense of melody and song structuring that lends a nice bleak soundscape to the whole thing. Bilocate have slowed down into a relaxed groove that is both pleasant and oppressive; a nice contrast.

Manuscripts Don’t Burn - The Breathing House (mcd) €7.80
Davide Tiso, the man behind Avantgarde Extreme Metallers EPHEL DUATH, goes solo with Manuscripts Don’t Burn, a musical project with indefinite borders, where music breathe, like the House in the title. Usually avant-garde music is complicated and emotionless, this time there’s so much heart and soul that you can feel the passion behind immediately. Now sit down and breathe.

Oath, the - Self-Destructed (digipack) €12.00
http://www.last.fm/music/The+Oath
French Extreme Metallers THE OATH returns to deliver a blasting album of Blackened Death Metal, full of ear-splitting riffs, groovy heaviness, glacial melodies and bombastic production!

Whom The Moon a Nightsong Sings (2CD digipack) €14.90
“Whom The Moon A Nightsong Sings” is a compilation of rare value – not only because of the fact that this is one of the few conceptual compilations that are based around a central theme and where the choice of artists present was subjected to a rigid selection. Antimatter - Alternative Matter (2CD digipack) 2010 13.50
Antimatter - Alternative Matter (Artbook w/ 3 CD+DVD) 2010 49.00
Ten years after the recordings of their debut album "Saviour", ANTIMATTER release "Alternative Matter", a retrospective of another kind. This is not a standard best of album, but a compilation of exclusively unreleased recordings and alternative versions from the archives of the band, compiled by ANTIMATTER mastermind Mick Moss with care and passion. "Alternative Matter" features demo and acoustic versions of well-known ANTIMATTER songs, live recordings, remixes, and also new recordings which have been conceived especially for this compilation. And in their entirety all these songs tell a yet unknown ANTIMATTER story.
"Alternative Matter" will be released in two versions: as a digipack double CD with 22 unreleased recordings and a total playing time of more than 100 minutes and as a premium artbook with more than 100(!) pages, three audio CDs and one DVD. The artbook features a comprehensive introduction and in-depth liner notes by Mick Moss as well as a vast amount of photographs illustrating ANTIMATTER's career from 2000 up to now. The DVD features a documentary about ANTIMATTER's history and two video clips. Without a doubt, this retrospetive will draw an impressive line under ANTIMATTER's first decade of existence!

Todtgelichter - Angst 2010 12.00
“Angst” is the new album of German band Todtgelichter, who have definitely broken with their past of classic Teutonic BM and with this new album have produced a terrific masterpiece, a record that will literally blow you away. We might call it Post-Metal with Black influences, but that would be belittling because “Angst” is courageous, original, powerful, catchy, deep, moving and bloodily grand; in short, a record that cannot be ignored or confused with the tasteless tide that has been flooding the music market lately. “Angst” breaks powerfully in all senses and after hundreds plays hasn’t lost a bit of its emotional intensity and ability to surprise.

Annihilator -Remains CD (reissue) €13.00
http://www.last.fm/music/Annihilator
Originally released in 1996, Remains features a wide variety of material that showcases the many sides of Jeff Waters’ songwriting talents, from all out metal ragers to more laid back material along with a few of his more experimental tracks along the way! This version also adds a bonus 'Alice In Hell' Guitar workshop plus 3 bonus tracks, including demo versions of classic Annihilator tunes from as far back as 1985.

Centinex - Subconscious Lobotomy CD (reissue) €11.00
http://www.last.fm/music/Centinex
Official re-release of the long out-of-print and very sought-after debut album by the legendary Swedish band, originally released back in 1992, with a whole new layout designed by Eduardo M. (Aceituna Gráfica / Feretro Records) and a retro-interview to Mr. Martin Schulman himself conducted by Eduardo de Leon Alejo (Supposed To Rot 'zine). The CD will also include two of their demo tapes, namely "Under the blackened sky" (1993) and "Trascend the dark chaos" (1994), as bonus tracks for a total running time of over sixty minutes of sheer and unadulterated Swedeath.

Dead Shape Figure - The Disease of St. Vitus CD €13.00
http://www.last.fm/music/Dead+Shape+Figure
While Dead Shape Figure are clearly following a stylistic path similar to The Haunted—this streetwise brand of neo-thrash practically screams influence from the ex-At the Gates dudes—these Finnish counterparts seem perfectly happy replicating their heroes’ long-forgotten Made Me Do It and One Kill Wonder era with gleeful aggro and aplomb.

Enochian Crescent - Black Church CD €12.00
http://www.last.fm/music/Enochian+Crescent
Your average black metaller is content to design a song fairly simply, revolving on a few simple tremolo picked riffs; not so with Enochian Crescent. Purveying the entire album are countless twists and turns; each song has its own identity, filled to the brim with varying riffs. In the vein of bands like Dissection, however, Enochian Crescent throw in a great deal of melody along with their in-your-face style. Not only this, but the variance in tempos used by these Finns is unusual; several acoustic melodies are scattered around, and the rare (but it’s definitely there) solo bass part can be heard. Take heed; Enochian Crescent do not try to cram as many riffs and melodies into one song as they possibly can (a la The Incurable Tragedy); each riff is exactly where it should be. Nothing feels out of place or forced, and everything works with its predecessors and followers flawlessly. The rhythm section finds themselves, sadly, doing nothing especially fantastic, being amiable with staying in the background.

Halcyon Way - Building The Towers Digipack €12.00
http://www.last.fm/music/Halcyon+Way
Halcyon Way is a heavy metal band hailing from Atlanta, GA. known for their explosive live shows, instantly infectious melodies, vocal harmonies, and incendiary guitar work, pounding rhythms, and showmanship. Aurally H.W. combines the heaviness of bands like Slayer, Chimaira, DevilDriver & Testament, with accessible yet progressive melodies like King's X and Queensryche, with technical twists that show their real musicians, you will be pummeled with the punishing riffs while being lovingly caressed by hooks.

Lifelover - Konkurs 2CD Digipack (reissue) €13.50
http://www.last.fm/music/Lifelover
A re-issue of Lifelover's infamous third album, "Konkurs", will be the band's first release on Prophecy. Originally released in 2008, "Konkurs" paints a bleak, dystopian vision of modern urban despair with fractured fragments of black metal, indie-pop, post-punk, and shoegaze. Truly a love-it-or-hate-it experience, Lifelover's proudly defiant "Konkurs" will forever alter your perceptions of what can be done to "black metal" or even "extreme metal" in general.
Limited edition 2CD digipack includes bands 2005 promo as bonus.

Spiritus Mortis - Spiritus Mortis CD (reissue) €12.00
http://www.last.fm/music/Spiritus+Mortis
2010 reissue of Spiritus Mortis debut album from 2003 (originally on Rage of Achilles). Crushing heavy as fuck doom metal. Re-mastered with four previously unreleased bonus tracks. All lyrics included, updated artwork and liner notes about the bonus tracks. COTD.

Tulossa 1/2011: ALGHAZANTH – Vinum Intus (Woodcut Records), CANAAN – Contro Luce (Eibon), FOLGE DEM WIND – Inhale The Sacred Poison (Code666), GEIST – Patina (Lupus Lounge), GEIST – Kainsmal (Lupus Lounge), HELRUNAR – Sol I (Lupus Lounge), HELRUNAR – Sol II (Lupus Lounge), HOUR OF 13 – The Ritualist (Earache), OCEANO – Contagion (Earache), THEATRES DES VAMPIRES – Moonlight Waltz (Aural Music).

Eïs (Geist) - Kainsmal (2CD) 12.00
http://www.myspace.com/geistmetal
Originally published in 2006 by Cold Dimensions the long sold out second album of EÏS (former GEÏST) receives its well deserved re-release. Arriving with new artwork, liner notes, a bonus cover song of CARPATHIAN FORESTs selftitled tune and newly recorded guitar tracks plus the original album as a bonus CD, this 2CD super jewelcase presents the definite edition of “Kainsmal”: Northern mid-nineties style aristocratic black metal - utmost furious, raging, embittered and autumnal.
Eïs (Geist) - Patina (2CD) 12.00
http://www.myspace.com/geistmetal
Originally published in 2005 by now defunct Solistitium Records the long sold out debut album of EÏS (former GEÏST) receives its well deserved re-release. Arriving with new artwork, liner notes, newly recorded guitar tracks plus the original album as a bonus CD, this 2CD super jewelcase presents the definite edition of “Patina”.

Helrunar - Sól (2CD artbook) 33.00
Helrunar - Sól II - Zweige der Erinnerung (digipak) 13.00
Helrunar - Sól I - Der Dorn im Nebel (digipack) 13.00
http://www.myspace.com/helrunarhorde
Three years after "Baldr Ok Íss", Helrunar now set about erecting a memorial in their own honour. "Sól" are two conceptionally linked albums of tremendous depth, combining contradictory attributes such as catchiness and complexity in the brace of icy Black Metal sounds.
Lyrics-wise, Helrunar's aim with "Sól" is nothing less than the attempt to revive mythical language and contents, thus opening up a whole new approach of handling mythical symbols and subject matter. Helrunar transfer this spiritual, at times surreal narrative style to the dynamics of their 100-minutes opus, effortlessly transcending the dogma-riddled genre. Pagan Black Metal has never been as oppressive and credible as it is on "Sól."
Musicwise, "Der Dorn im Nebel" establishes the concept of "Sól" with classical and direct Pagan Black Metal, while the lyrics outline the individual's struggle against and for itself.
With "Zweige der Erinnerung" the struggle of the individual reaches a new dimension: Supported by more experimental and more complex Pagan Black Metal in atmosphere, the focus lies on the conflict of individual and society.

Before The Dawn - Soundscape of Silence (digipack) € 12.00
Before The Dawn - My Darkness (digipack) € 12.00
Before The Dawn - Deadlight (digipack w/2 bonustracks) € 12.00
Before The Dawn - Decade Of Darkness EP (CD+DVD) € 13.00
http://www.last.fm/before+the+dawn
Thus we focus on the EP. It starts with three new songs. As usual the quality is high. ‘Decade Of Darkness’ starts with clean vocals of Lars Eikind (one of my favourite vocalists, who impressed me earlier with its presence in Winds, Age Of Silence and the stoner band Honcho), followed by Tuomas’ delicious growls. A beautiful guitar solo is next. ‘End Of Days’ is a catchy track with lively leads. The sentence “first snow is starting to fall” struck me, since the new record starts with an intro called ‘The First Snow’. The music of Before The Dawn has a frostbitten edge and perfectly fits with this winter season. ‘Insomnia’ makes my flesh creep! Sensitive vocals even remind me of Antimatter. Captivating! What leaps to the eye is that the band still uses keyboards here, in this song even soaring synthesizers. The rest of the MCD is filled with a studio version and a live version of ‘Painless’ and that was the Japanese bonus track for ‘Deadlight’. Finally a live version of the hit ‘Deadsong’ (it was used in a Finnish TV show and for a video game) and a symphonic version of that song. That means a totally different approach with classical piano, strings and only the marvellous, clean vocals of Eikind. Fans of melancholic dark metal – they ought to call it melodic doom/death as well – will do well by purchasing this together with the new album ‘Deathstar Rising’, then you are updated and ready to enjoy this excellent band in sound and vision.

Ordog - Remorse € 9.90
http://www.last.fm/music/Ordog
The third album from this Finnish bands sees them moving from pure blood funeral doom into more bleak, melancholic brand of death/doom metal.

Thromdarr - Electric Hellfire € 10.20
http://www.last.fm/music/Thromdarr
Thromdarr performs aggressive and poetic metal music. Stylistically Thromdarr enriches the greatness of the heavy and thrash metal of the 80's with the death and black metal nuances. Extremely heavy guitar walls and beautiful keyboard melodies complete the experience.
Thromdarr has been around since the late 80's and now they are stronger than ever with a new powerful line-up. The troops of Thromdarr have been fortified with a new singer, a second guitarist and a keyboardist. As a result of the updated line-up, the stories are now told with the aggression and agony they should be told with.
For those interested of scene points, the band features three Skepticism members.

Witheria - Vanishing Order € 10.20
http://www.last.fm/music/Witheria
‘Vanishing Order’ has again become a powerful album by these Finns and will surely appeal to fans of bands with the likes of Necorphagist, The Crown, and Legion Of The Damned (Lords of Metal)

Coprolith - Cold Grief Relief € 10.20
Haemorrhage - Anatomical Inferno € 12.00
Haemorrhage - Emetic Cult € 12.00
Haemorrhage - Grume € 12.00
National Napalm Syndicate - Devolution Of Species € 7.80
Oranssi Pazuzu - Muukalainen Puhuu € 10.20
Sacred Oath - World on Fire (digipack) € 12.00
Secrets Of The Moon - Stronghold Of The Inviolables € 13.00

Eibon La Furies - The Blood of the Realm 12,00
http://www.myspace.com/eibonlafuries
The music drips with atmosphere and to a certain extent theatre, with some of the narrative coming across as prose from a dark play rather than mere vocals. There is an obvious cinematic influence at play as well as a keen sense of avant-garde black metal. To attempt to dissect the sound of this madness would be folly, but suffice it to say that you won't have heard anything like this before and I can assure you that this is worthy of your attention.
Folge Dem Wind - Inhale The Sacred Poison 12,00
http://www.myspace.com/folgedemwindofficiel
Inhale the Sacred Poison is a raw, often dissonant, and frequently cacophonic, experimental black metal outing that will unquestionably take some time for the average listener to understand. This is a strikingly original, and at times groundbreaking, album that is filled with strokes of genius. Folge Dem Wind's second full-length is lacking a bit in the consistency department, but it shows a band with an adventurous attitude and original sound - that certainly doesn't go unnoticed by me.
Raven Woods - Enfeebling The Throne (slipcase) 12,00
http://www.myspace.com/ravenwoods
When listening to "Enfeebling The Throne" I found that I was reminded of bands like Behemoth, Nile and Melechesh. The band takes the best parts of Blackened Death Metal and then blends them with middle eastern melodies. While the music is at times reminiscent of other bands, I never found it to be anything but fresh sounding. Raven Woods have definitely made this sound their own.
Saille - Irreversible Decay 12,00
http://www.facebook.com/saillemetal
For myself and hopefully countless others, Saille's arrival is a welcome and oh-so refreshing one. Despite its title, Irreversible Decay shows that symphonic black metal's decay was indeed not irreversible. The resulting music is absolutely loaded with killer tremolo riffage, well-placed Baroque passages, surprising variety with the keys (keep an ear out for the Hammond sound), some great lead work, and insanely-skilled drumming. Saille therefore finds themselves channeling and expanding upon bands such as Emperor, Keep of Kalessin, and even Vreid.
Syn Ze Sase Tri - Intre Doua Lumi (digipack) 12,00
http://www.myspace.com/synzesasetri
Described as a mix between the sound of early Dimmu Borgir and the last Negura Bunget, this band is in effect linked to the Romanian band, as the two guitarists Corb and Spin were into NB from 2009 to 2010, writing most of "Virstele Pamintului" album and playing during the next tour, before deciding to back to their first band. Anyway, Syn Ze Sase Tri is quite different from Negura Bunget, being more epic, symphonic and closer to European Pagan Metal scene, but without loosing their strong Transilvanian source which makes this band dark and obscure.
Unmoored - Indefinite Soul-Extension (digipack) 12,00
http://myspace.com/unmoored
Indefinite Soul-Extension combines elements of death metal, melodic death, Gothenburg, and progressive metal. The riffing at times is very crunchy and heavy like many death acts, but then it's more atmospheric, prog-like, and then again it's a bit on the Gothenburg side, with the Maiden-esque harmony riffs. The drumming is superb, Henrik Schönström does a helluva job keeping this whole album sounding progressive and epic, yet brutal and heavy. Christian Älvestam's vocals are great, mixing some pretty melodic harsh vocals (ala Gothenburg but with a bit more balls), and some great sounding clean vocals that give any renowned metal singer a run for their money.

Lethal Conflict Mailorder update – all prices in Euro.

Anvil - Juggernaut of Justice CD 12.00

If you were to look up the word “perseverance” in the almighty handbook of heavy metal, there may very well be a photo of Canadian metalists, Anvil. Since their 1981 debut, “Hard N’ Heavy”, the group – which was co-founded by singer/guitarist Steve “Lips” Kudlow and drummer Robb Reiner – has been listed by many as one of the creators of the thrash/speed metal genre (especially on such classics as 1982′s “Metal on Metal” and 1983′s “Forged In Fire”), but due to subsequent bad record deals, bad management, and just plain bad luck, Anvil appeared to take a back seat to a new wave of metal bands – most of which listed the group as a prime influence. However, Anvil has never stopped rocking, and with the arrival of the critically-acclaimed/surprise hit film, “Anvil! The Story of Anvil” (directed by Sacha Gervasi), the group is back where they belong – at the forefront of heavy metal. Armed with a new label home at The End Records, their fourteenth album “Juggernaut Of Justice” finds the band at the most ferocious (and catchy) they’ve ever been. The story of Anvil isn’t over, it is just beginning….

Argus - Boldly Stride The Doomed CD 12.00
http://www.youtube.com/user/arguspa
Argus had already arrived, but many of you seem to have missed the fucking memo. Consider this a world class opportunity to redeem yourself. This band deserves a dedicated place in your heart, whether yours is Sacred, Metal, or both. Merely calling Boldly Stride the Doomed a contender for album of the year (which it is) seems to cheapen the spirit herein. Argus isn’t about claiming any title at any given point in time. They aren’t about being compared to legends of the past or present. They are simply about making fist-in-the-air heavy metal of the highest order, and here they succeed effortlessly with an album equally musical, emotionally-charged, and balls-out-rockin’, but most importantly timeless. (Metal Review)

Novembers Doom - Aphotic CD 12.00
http://www.youtube.com/user/NovembersDoom1989
All in all progression is found on most fronts, and where it isn’t the band is just as strong as they previously stood. Precision and top notch song writing is capped off with engaging lyrics delivered in great form from Paul’s crushing fashion to guest appearances from both Anneke Van Giersbergen (The Gathering) and the legendary Dan Swanö (Edge of Sanity, Nightingale). Swanö is also responsible for the exceptional sound quality on this release, having mixed the album and seemingly has become the bands go to guy in the studio.

Aphotic is yet another great release for this group out of Chicago. Mastering the art of melancholy, yet offering a sense of empowerment to the listener. This album will please the bands current fan base while garnering the attention of first time listeners, as well as those that have passed over their previous efforts.

Twisted Tower Dire - Make It Dark CD 12.00
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j2hZcFOlJBY
“…the riffs of guitarists Scott Waldrop (While Heaven Wept) and Dave Boyd (Volture) are firmly in charge here on Make It Dark, re-presenting Twisted Tower Dire as one of the best hidden traditional metal acts in America today.” (Metal Army America)

A Forest of Stars - The Corpse Of Rebirth (digibook) 12.00
A Forest of Stars - Opportunistic Thieves of Spring (digibook +DVD) 12.00
http://www.last.fm/music/A+Forest+Of+Stars
The year is 1891. The members of the Gentleman's Club of A Forest of Stars, an exclusive brotherhood of English Victorians, consider themselves to be exponents of their glorious and pompous, at times decadent era characterized by extreme opposites. A Forest of Stars channel the experiences gained from their numerous meetings hazed by opium and absinthe, occult rites and séances in the form of a previously unheard-of ghostly and hypnotic music, filled with the spirit of the glorious Victorian Age – a harrowing testimony of their many spiritual and sensual excesses.

Alcest - Le Secret (digibook) 13.00
Alcest - Le Secret (CD) 9.00
Alcest - Souvenirs d'un Autre Monde 12.00
Alcest - Écailles de lune (digibook) 14.90
Alcest - Écailles de lune (cd) 12.00
http://www.last.fm/music/Alcest

Finnr's Cane - Wanderlust (digipack) 12.00
http://www.myspace.com/finnrscane
Canadian band Finnr's Cane is an unusual trio in more than one respect: not only do they replace the bass guitar completely with a cello, their songs also are created not by means of any conscious way of composition, but through an intuitive process of improvisation. This unconventional approach to music leads them to sonically extraordinary results: in the epic tracks of their debut album "Wanderlust," Finnr's Cane intertwine bitter-cold riffs with gorgeous melodies, Black Metal frenzy with ambient-like atmospheric rock, only following their infallible instinct for exciting soundscapes far from well-worn paths.
May the wild songs of Finnr's Cane invite all those who are adventuresome on an ecstatic trip through scenarios of snow and ice that are as impressive as they are deadly, a trip that you won't be forgetting soon...!

Forgotten Tomb - Under Saturn Retrograde 12.00
http://www.myspace.com/darknessinstereo
After 4 long years the true forefathers of aural misery are back with a vengeance! The new album "Under Saturn Retrograde" destroys without mercy all the latest Depressive/Suicidal Black Metal Emo-wannabes and restablish the hierarchy the way it should be! Innovative, heavy and dark as fuck, the new FORGOTTEN TOMB album sweep away all the pretenders to the throne and reconfirm these italians at the top of the scene, with their own brand of Nihilistic Black Rock Unlimited.

Hekate - Die Welt der dunklen Gärten 12.00
http://www.myspace.com/hekatesonne
Music-wise, "Die Welt ..." forges a bridge from Classical elements and Oriental rhythms to melancholic Folk. Once more outstanding are the varied percussion arrangements so typical of Hekate as well as the alternating vocals by Susanne Grosche and Axel Menz. The brilliant production courtesy of Patrick Damiani (Rome) lends a flair of simple beauty to this album. The selection of lyrics is remarkable as well: apart from the band's own words, you will find adaptations of classic poetry by Lord Byron ("Byronic Hero"), Joseph von Eichendorff ("Opportunity of Time"), and Hermann Löns ("Die Blaue Blume").

Pharaoh - The Ten Years (mcd) 8.00
http://www.myspace.com/pharaohmetal
Pennsylvanian Philadelphiasta tuleva pitkän linjan metallikvartetti, PHARAOH, julkaisee vihdoinkin bändin kymmenvuotista taivalta juhlistavan „Ten Years” albumin! Tämä mini-albumi pitää sisällään kaksi aiemmin julkaisematonta kappaletta „Be Gone” -albumin nauhoituksista, kaksi aiemmin vain vinyylillä julkaistua kappaletta sekä New Model Army ja Slayer coverit.

Rival Sons - Pressure & Time 12.00
http://www.facebook.com/rivalsons
Rival Sons have been heralded as a modern day mix of the Small Faces, The Who, Led Zeppelin and the Kinks and in Jay Buchanan have a vocalist who will undoubtedly attact attention and acclaim from all quarters.
For the majority of Earache fans more familiar reference points are the likes of Firebird, Spritual Beggars and Witchcraft, but with a more contemporary edge.

Sol Invictus - The Cruellest Month 12.00
http://www.last.fm/music/Sol+Invictus
"The Cruellest Month" has turned out to be a typical Sol Invictus album in every regard. Music-wise, it's angular, combative, painful, with pessimistic and cynical lyrics (Wakeford: "It's a meditation on ageing and decline as individuals, empires and states. It deals with the question if the cruelty of life is simply a reflection of the cruelty of god or if we are simply cruel for cruelty's sake. It is a utopia-free zone."). As well as songs poison-penned by Tony Wakeford, the album contains a number of traditional songs, including Andrew King's rendition of mass-murder ballad, "Cruel Lincoln," and Tony Wakeford's version of class war anthem, "The Blackleg Miner."

SSS - Problems to the answer 12.00
http://www.myspace.com/shortsharpshockuk
The UK's crossover thrash kings return with a storming new full length as they career through 25 fast and furious tracks in the vein of D.R.I., Municipal Waste, early Anthrax and Suicidal Tendencies!
SSS 2011 are certainly faster and harder than before, which is backed up by their formidable guest musician Barney Greenway of Napalm Death who occasionally lends his considerable vocal talents

Diamond Plate - Generation Why? €12.00

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i-uxeaO_4u4

Djevel - Dødssanger €12.00
For those who miss the cold and grim days of authentic Norwegian black metal of the 90s, but have certain reservations about music that is intentionally recorded and produced to sound as repulsive as possible might be interested to know that aside his duties in Kvelertak, vocalist Erlend Hjelvik has also produced less festive underground music together with Trond Ciekals of Ljå, and Mannevond of Khold and Urgehal fame. The project, which by their own words is black metal infused with a melodic darkness, is called - bluntly - Djevel, which should beg no translation; their debut album is called "Dødssanger", which translates roughly to "Death Songs"; and the artwork accompanying is equally morose, featuring two upside down crosses against distorted blackness. Voilá, with an effective first impression thus, the stage is set for one of the bleakest and forlorn albums likely to be released this year.

White Wizzard - Flying Tigers CD €12.00
http://www.reverbnation.com/#!/whitewizzard
Flying Tigers is the new album from Los Angeles' traditional heavy titans White Wizzard, eagerly awaited since the well-received Over The Top album from January 2010.
Building on the base of traditional heavy metal displayed on Over The Top and High Speed GTO, Flying Tigers also showcases a more expansive sound in lead track 'Starchild'. The closing six-track science fiction-inspired concept arc demonstrates a proggy layer, which fans of Rush and Dream Theater are also sure to love. This concept arc also shows how White Wizzard have excelled themselves with their instrumental and vocal performances on Flying Tigers, with vocalist Wyatt Anderson and bassist and songwriter Jon Leon the highlights once more.
Flying Tigers also continues the association with producer Ralph Patlan, who has worked with metal legends such as Megadeth, UFO and Michael Schencker.

Lantlos - Agape (Ltd. 2CD) €12.00
Lantlos - Agape (CD) €6.90
http://www.last.fm/music/Lantl%C3%B4s
Agape is different. There is no one element that can be separated from another in the 35 minute running time of the album. Sure the undeniable jazz influence is still there. The saturated noir atmosphere is still there. The black metal influence is still there as well (along with a much more doom oriented sound, especially as far as the guitar work is considered). Yet, the album sounds much more like Lantlos than it does any of these elements separately. The equilibrium between influences along with a perfectly evolved personality makes Agape much more than just a sum of its parts. As I mentioned before, the album itself only runs what seems a meager 35 minutes, but in context this short running time works quite well for such an ambitiously saturated album. Were the album to be much longer it would cave in under the weight of its own ideas.

Farsot - Insects (Ltd. mailpak-CD) €12.00
Farsot - Insects(CD) €6.90
http://www.last.fm/music/Farsot
The record contains a unique new definition of dark music, emphasising trance-like instrumentals as much as clear, conjuring vocals and many groovy passages. It shouldn't go unmentioned that for the first time in their history, the band has been using English lyrics exclusively. "Insects" is less focussed on pure aggression and catchiness, but more on emotional depth in all its facets – and in all its gravity, for at the centre of the album is man, the unknown creature, his abysses, and the Kafkaesque complexity of inter-human action. Once more, this album shows Farsot's way out of the confines of generic metaphors, as it plays with natural loathing and repulsion as much as with the fascination that humans feel when confronted with the crawling, creeping, wriggling, and coiling of lesser creatures, worms, beetles, and insects.

All regular Prophecy Productions CD's €9.00 until end of the year!

Now accepting pre-orders for Tenhi's Saivo album (CD, Digipack, Artbook w/DVD).

Anvil - Monument of Metal CD €9.00
http://www.last.fm/music/Anvil
What's remarkable about Anvil's retrospective is that not only have they included stuff from every aspect of their recording career, but they've been so remarkably consistent and one-dimensional throughout. If anything, this set proves that the Canadian act has continually represented the New Wave of British Heavy Metal era better than many of its actual progenitors. While recording technology has certainly gotten better, Anvil has remained consistent in songwriting, sound, and presentation, which should satisfy longtime fans mightily.

Anathema - We're Here Because We're Here CD €12.00
http://www.last.fm/music/Anathema
Anathema are one of the select few bands that actually progress with each album, honing their songwriting skills to provide a better means for their musical message - but a six-year gap in the recording schedule that preceded We're Here Because We're Here still left many fans wondering, where do they go from here? Turns out, it was in the right direction. This is Anathema's most mature and complex effort to date -- exactly as could be expected of the band's new album.

Halcyon Way - IndoctriNation CD €10.80
http://www.last.fm/music/Halcyon+Way
Aurally combining the heaviness of bands like Testament, the technical prowess of Dream Theater, the power metallic attitude of Evergrey and soaring vocal melodies, Halcyon Way will leave you awestricken by their punishing riffs and unforgettable hooks.

Lance King - A Moment in Chiros CD €12.00
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=txMU0vwv-1M
"Etheric Progressive Power Metal from the voice of PYRAMAZE & BALANCE OF POWER, for fans of REDEMPTION, DREAM THEATER and SYMPHONY X with a nod at legends LED ZEPPELIN"
Boasting great creativity and quest performances by these fine musicians: Jacob Hansen (Beyond Twilight, Invocator & Anubis Gate), Kim Olesen (Anubis Gate), Michael Harris (Darkology, Thought Chamber), Tore St Moren (Jorn), Fred Colombo (Spheric Universe Experience), Markus Sigfridsson (Darkwater / Harmony), Kevin Codfert (Adagio), Michael Hansen & Shane Dhiman (Phonomik), Morten Gade Sørensen (Pyramaze, Wuthering Heights), Elyes Bouchoucha, Malek Ben Arbia, Anis Jouini (Myrath) & Mistheria (Bruce Dickinson and MANY others).

Vangough - Kingdom Of Ruin CD €12.00 l
http://www.last.fm/music/Vangough
Vangough’s latest can stand as a benchmark in the progressive rock arena. It should appeal to most Prog fans. Without giving away the ending, here are some musical highlights: The dual nature of the whole album, with the first half being darker and heavier, and the back half lighter and more upbeat; the sweeping riffs, manic drum line and overall theatrical feel of “Disloyal;” the many musical moods and great vocals of “Choke Faint Drown;” the cool Linken Park feel and sweet guitar solo of “Abandon Me;” the heavy Gothic mood, complex layering and superb performances by the entire band on “Kingdom Of Ruin;” the upbeat progressive rock stylings and long instrumental passages of “The Rabbit Kingdom;” the fine guitar and keyboard work on the lighthearted “Sounds of Wonder” – the listener may pick up a touch of Queen influence here; the beautiful and melodic piano / synth work and tearjerker lyrics of “A Father’s Love” and “Alice” the awesome in-your-face bass line of “Requiem For A Fallen King;” and the entire epic closing track – “The Garden That Time Forgot.”

Amoth - Crossing Over CD €12.00
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sCK6T0M5BTQ
Amoth is a unique epiphony from Helsinki, Finland. The band combines influences from traditional heavy metal, progressive metal, thrash and even jazz alongside classical music to their blend of elements that is their debut album entitled "Crossing Over",which is released thourgh Inverse Records.
The band's intelligent fusion of progression inside metal created a full-lenght album that to themselves is the embodiment of perfection. "No compromisses were made, not with the music, nor the lyrics", tells Amoth's guitarist and composer Tomi Ihanamäki. The band lists Dream Theater, Iron Maiden, Testatament and Steve Vai as givers of inspiration.
Amoth has previously released an EP entitled Wounded Faith, that received overwhelmingly positive feedback from the bands peers and the underground progmetal scene. This is reflected in the reviews that the band got from metal mediums as well as the success of their social media platforms. This is as real as music gets!

Demonic Death Judge - The Descent CD €12.00
http://www.last.fm/music/Demonic+Death+Judge
This year they return with a full length which in my opinion is enough to classify them as one of the best underground acts in sludge right now.
If youve heard Kneel then you already know what to expect. Dirty guitars, thick bass, raging blackened vocals, sludge riffs, stoner passages. Fans of Eyehategod will love it. There are also some more experimental moments that take form in songs like the the spacey/psychedelic Four and Stick that in Your Pipe and Smoke It. Ive tried to make comparisons with their previous release but in this case I dont know if I can choose between the two. The band just keeps going in the same high standards of Kneel. All songs are great but if you HAVE to listen to only one then I suggest you go with the homonymous track. Its long enough and has all the aforementioned elements that compose Demonic Death Judge! (Dr. Doom)

Wasara - Hehku CD €12.00
http://www.last.fm/music/Wasara

Back in catalog:
Necare - Ruin CD €4.80 Melodic doom/death metal
InSomnius Dei - Illusions of Silence CD €6.90 Progressive doom/death metal

When I heard that Patterson was starting up a new rock-oriented band, I wasn't sure how to react. With eight years passed since his last rock-related album, Antimatter's Lights Out, it was difficult to fathom just what to expect from this new band, whose name is derived from Patterson's final album with Anathema before leaving to pursue other artistic horizons. What would a rock band sound like if the chief songwriter spent the greater part of a decade in folk and world music-based projects?

Well, at the risk of sounding corny and unimaginative, it would sound like Alternative 4. This international trio, hailing from Liverpool, La Plata, and Melbourne, is a melding of the creative minds who brought us not only Anathema, Antimatter, and Ion, but also Australia's brilliant gothic metal giants The Eternal. Cinematic both in scope and performance, Alternative 4's debut album The Brink brings together sweeping ambiance, contemplative, atmospheric rock, and a deep understanding of world folk and classical musics. Throughout The Brink reside thrilling, hair-raising bouts of Pink Floyd-ian progressive rock, velvety smooth strings, eerie, standalone piano, and the passion present throughout Duncan Patterson's discography. It is unmistakable that the brilliant mind that brought the world Alternative 4 and Eternity is the man behind The Brink, and it is evident in every element of this album.

Andromeda - Manifest Tyranny CD 2011 €13.00
http://www.last.fm/music/Andromeda

Sweden's Andromeda with severals albums and tours under their belt is definitely one of the most successful progressive metal bands in Scandinavia and Europe. Albums like "Extension of the Wish", "II=I" and "Chimera" are considered classics in the scene, and the DVD "Playing off the Board" shows how talented this Swedish guys really are. Stronger than ever Andromeda is here to show you something you have not heard before. Dark, brutal, energic and intelligent. This fall they've got festival appearances like Generation Prog, Denmark Rock Festival and Slottsskogen goes progressive lined up, and when the new album hits the shelves many more shows will be announced. Open your ears and you too will trancend into the multifaceted galaxy of Andromeda!

Cage - Supremacy of Steel CD 2011 €12.00
http://www.facebook.com/cageofficial

If you’re foolish enough to try and headbang along to the damaging dozen, you’re likely end up in the ER, suffering from self-imposed whiplash. Where’s that neck brace METAL CHURCH offered for sale in their eponymous debut? Think JUDAS PRIEST’s “Painkiller”, twelve different ways. While some might complain about lacking variation in tempo (there is within each track), as it’s always on 10, not me! Even more so than the last two records, Peck stretches his vocal chords, adding layers to his Lon Chaney (Man Of A Thousand Faces) delivery: Black Metal growls (“King Of The Wasteland”), a newer / neutral tone and the eerie aping of that infamous corpse-painted Dane (“Annaliese Michel”). All would be for naught, if the music wasn’t as infectious as their previous five albums. In fact, parts of “Supremacy Of Steel” harkens back to “Unveiled” (the allegorical “Braindead Woman”), not bad for a band who will celebrate two decades of existence in 2012.

Massacre From Beyond Digipack reissue 2011 €13.00
http://www.facebook.com/pages/Massacre- ... 5868519782

Originally released in 1991, From Beyond is a masterclass in death metal, regularly featuring in polls worldwide listing the best death metal albums of all time. The long-out-of-print album has been reissued on CD with four bonus EP tracks and comes housed in a limited edition digipak with extended artwork and a fold-out poster.

Theocracy - As the World Bleeds CD 2011 €13.00
http://www.facebook.com/theocracyband

Theocracy is a metal band from Athens, Ga., whose melodic style has more in common with their European contemporaries than with most of their U.S.counterparts. Characterized by huge choruses, epic arrangements and progressive elements, Theocracy’s music is both immediate and deep, managing to be instantly catchy and memorable, yet revealing new levels of intricacy and depth with each subsequent listen.

Dark Suns - Orange (2CD+DVD) 17.90
Dark Suns - Orange (CD) 6.90
http://de-de.facebook.com/darksuns

Instead of once more serving up complex and elaborate slabs of prog metal, Dark Suns' mode of operation is a lot more spontaneous and rocking in 2011 – flagrantly flirting with classic (prog) rock of the Seventies and more easy-going than ever before. It fits this concept that "Orange" was recorded live in the studio, in order to capture that special something of progressive rock music in the most authentic way possible and to allow creative space for the illustrious instrumentation (e.g., Hammond organ and diverse brass players).

Nucleus Torn - Golden Age (A5 Digibook) 13.00
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Xqe221BKvY

The result is an album that more than any of Nucleus Torn's previous works looks back to 1970's Progressive Rock, paying homage to masters of the form such as King Crimson, Yes, Genesis, and Änglagard. Still, it also contains the broadest stylistic diversity you have ever heard on an album by Nucleus Torn: on "Golden Age", the Swiss neither shy back from the catchiness of pop music ("Against") nor from the abysses of metal ("Death Triumphant"), and they underlay the record with a conceptional dramaturgy the listener can only shake off when the album is finished.

Tenhi - Saivo (CD) 6.90
Tenhi - Saivo (ltd. digipack) 13.00
Tenhi- Saivo (ARTBOOK w/DVD) 44.00
http://www.last.fm/music/Tenhi

70-minuuttinen Saivo on bändin massiivisin albumikokonaisuus, mutta se ei sorru sen enempää muutamassa kappaleessa korostuvan minimalismin kuin pituutensakaan alle. (Imperiumi 9,5/10)

Pharaoh - Bury The Light CD €9.90 [PRE-ORDER 28.02.2012]
The new album from American metal group PHARAOH is an affirming cry to those who know that things are not what they seem. Entitled Bury the Light, the album centers musically on the darker undertones of the band’s previous output, emphasizing as always the elegant and vigorous guitar work of Matt Johnsen and the unmatched power of vocalist Tim Aymar. These elements combine to invoke compelling, radiant melodies, which in turn lure the listener to experience the album’s deeper dynamics and complex corners.

Arctic Plateau - The Enemy Inside (digipack) €12.00
Arctic Plateau - On A Sad Sunny Day (digipack) €12.00
ARCTIC PLATEAU - this is the nom de plume of Gianluca Divirgilio, an Italian musician with an incredible sense for epic arrangements and song structures whose first recordings offer timeless music between the poles of Post Rock, Shoegaze, New Wave and Indie.

Les Discrets - Ariettes Oubliées... (CD) €7.50
Les Discrets - Ariettes Oubliées... (2CD ARTBOOK) €39.90
Les Discrets - Ariettes Oubliées... (digibook) €12.00
Les Discrets - Septembre Et Ses Dernières Pensées (digipack) €12.00
When Fursy Teyssier and Les Discrets released their debut album, "Septembre Et Ses Dernières Pensées," in spring 2010, they got a deluge of public attention quite uncommon for a newcomer. As Fursy was involved beforehand in bands like Alcest and Amesoeurs and was also responsible for their expressive cover artworks, he was certainly no "blank page" in the scene. Thus, the anticipation towards Les Discrets was considerably high, but the compositional quality of "Septembre...", the unique and strong blend of genres, and the ambitious, artistic album concept silenced critics quickly, and Les Discrets became one of the leading bands of the fast-rising Post-Black Metal movement within a short time.

Arctic Plateau / Les Discrets - split (2CD digipack) €13.90
"Le Mouvement Perpétuel" will also be featured on the upcoming album but comes as alternatively mixed/mastered version on this MCD only. "The Persuaders" is a cover version of the homonymous tv series' theme song and will exclusively be featured on this release!
On Arctic Plateau's side the track "Music's like..." will offer a taste of the upcoming album "The Enemy Inside". The demo songs "Amethyst To 'F" and "Ivory" are exclusive to this release."

Sol Invictus - The Devil's Steed (digipack) €12.00
Sol Invictus - Death of The West (digipack) €12.00
"Until the release of "The Cruellest Month" in the summer of 2011, "The Devil's Steed" of 2005 was the up-to-date album of Sol Invictus, already heralding Tony Wakeford's return to more classic folkloristic topics."
"Originally planned "Death Of The West" as Mini CD, Tony Wakeford got carried away during the recordings and added some old classics in a new gown to form this album release from 1994."

Napalm Death - Scum (digipack reissue) 2012 grindcore 11.00
The most influential grindcore album ever, this certainly started it as far as Earache was concerned - no-one could have imagined what lay in store for the future of music when this spiteful little bastard was issued back in 1987 to a largely unsuspecting metal and mainstream public!
Repressed as "Full Dynamic Range" (FDR) audio using the original Masters and Artwork!

Pharaoh - The Longest Night 2006 power metal 9.00
Pharaoh - After The Fire 2003 power metal 9.00
Pharaoh - Be Gone 2008 power metal 9.00
Pharaoh - The Ten Years (mcd) 2011 heavy/power metal 7.00
Pharaoh - Bury The Light 2012 heavy/power metal 10.80

Savage Messiah - Plague of Conscience 2012 power/thrash metal 11.00
http://www.last.fm/music/Savage+Messiah
Their sound is reminiscent [or influenced by] some of the best Bay Area bands such as Testament and or Exodus. This is mostly in the riffing department as guitarist/vocalist Dave Silver throws in plenty of choice chunky riffs throughout and some fancy lead licks to boot. Enter 2012 and the band has done a complete about-face. On their new release I feel as though they are shedding their basic “thrash-by-numbers” sound perhaps and have turned in a much more mature-sounding bunch of tracks. Kudos for adding the extra dose of melodies and finely detailed song arrangements throughout! All of the songs are catchy and memorable, yet heavy.
Fans of Metal Church, Fates Warning, Savatage, Megadeth, Testament and Exodus should eat this up.

Soulfallen - The Promise of Hell 2012 death/dark metal 9.00
Soulfallen - Grave New World (reissue w/3 bonus tracks) 2012 death/dark metal 9.00
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VzxcNs4CCk8
"The lyrics are well written and escapes a little from the traditional themes from black metal, having a more delusional, disappointed vibe, a saturnine approach to it."
”The Promise Of Hell” on erittäin mielenkiintoinen yhdistelmä melankoliaa, raskasta metallia sekä sinfonisia melodioita. Unohtamatta tietenkään mainita, että muutamin kohdin havaitsen lieviä Cradle Of Filth-vaikutteita. Melkoisen sopan on siis yhtye keittänyt.

Woods of Ypres - Woods 4: The Green Album 2011 stoner/doom 12.00
Woods of Ypres - Woods 5: Grey Skies & Electric Light 2012 stoner/doom 12.00
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1LNbrBbGOH0
A fitting tribute to Woods Of Ypres 10 year existence, David had even recently stated that this was the happiest he had been with any of the bands albums and it sits comfortably alongside the best that Type O Negative, Katatonia and Sentenced have to offer.

Rival Sons! Bändi joka tänä vuonna palauttaa rokin Ruisrokkiin ja hevin Ilosaareen!!!

Rival Sons - Pressure & Time (CD) €9.00
Rival Sons - Pressure & Time Redux (CD+DVD) €12.00

Monesti lafkat tekevät aika paskoja uusintapainoksia puolivillaisilla tuherodemobonuksilla, mutta Earachen julkaisema Pressure & Time redux tarjoaa rahoille vastinetta! Kaksi bonusbiisiä, neljä livevideota, kaksi videoclippiä, uusi kansitaide. Eikä ole todellakaan hinnalla pilattu!

Aenaon - Cendres Et Sang 9.00
progressive black metal - http://www.aenaon-band.com
On viewing Aenaon's history - one would expect different. While the band consists of members of Varathron, Disolvo Animus and Nethescerial, Aenaon resembles none of these bands but instead branches out to be something entirely different, proficient in its category and place. If you are a fan of bands such as Shining, Code, DHG, Deathspell Omega - you should check out Aenaon immediately. And if you are a supporter of the underground scene, perhaps you have just found the best underground extreme metal album of 2011.

Atrox - Orgasm 9.00
avantgarde gothic metal? http://www.last.fm/music/Atrox
For being Atrox's most accessible album, Orgasm is still pretty damn inaccessible. Listening to Monika sing is like being afflicted with A.D.D. and going through mood swings every 30 seconds, which actually comes across as a mostly tolerable and oddly enjoyable experience.

Crown of Autumn - Splendours from the Dark 9.00
Crown of Autumn - The Treasures Arcane - Transfigurated Edition 9.00
http://www.facebook.com/pages/Crown-Of- ... 9598214085
Already with the opening track, ‘Templeisen’, is becomes clear that the Crown has chosen for a different musical path for this album. We can hardly speak of symphonic black metal anymore and also the folk-influences have been reduces quite a lot. On the other hand progressive heavy metal is playing a bigger role on the record, which is mostly revealed in the clean vocal part. The clean vocals are quite dominantly present and also the guest vocals of female singer Milena Saracino give a “helping hand” on the album’s sound. However, the band has again come up with a lot of atmosphere, only this time more towards gothic. The dark atmosphere combined with the in-deep-voice-spoken pieces and doomy grunts also remind me a lot of Rotting Christ in the ‘A Dead Poem’ and especially ‘Speel Of The Angels’ era.

Crysalys - The Awakening of Gaia 9.00
http://www.last.fm/music/Crysalys
A new voice in symphonic metal has arrived, one that is ready to mesmerize us all with voices of sirens and the destruction of Earth, and change the world with a movement as simple and decisive as a flap of a butterfly's wing.

Disguise - Second Coming 9.00
http://www.disguiseofficialsite.com
After 13 years of career Disguise give life to their most mature, complete and personal creature. "Second Coming" reaches the highest levels of aggressivity giving voice to the most hateful and insane feelings of the human sickness. Perverse vocals and sorrowful atmospheres in the old Mayhem style, are the frame for a violent Black Metal with shades of modern Metal, enriched by the assault of the Death Metal as only Satyricon, Dark Funeral and Marduk have been able to performing during the last years. It's a devastating work and will hit you like a merciless storm that will suddenly come on your heads!

Drakkar - When Lightning Strikes (digipack) 9.00
http://www.myspace.com/drakkarweb
Drakkar is one of the prime movers of the Italian Power Metal scene, together with Rhapsody Of Fire & Labyrinth! Drakkar sound is powerful, aggressive, epic and at the same time very melodic. They represents a band which shows a great respect and devotion towards the classic and traditional Heavy Metal but at the same way has the courage to find a personal and modern approach to the typical Power Metal sound! "When Lightning Strikes" it's once again an epic concept album that melds powerful riffs, majestic melodies and a true Metal attitude with classic science fiction concept behind it all!

Hail Spirit Noir - Pneuma (digipack) 9.00
Psychedelic black metal? http://www.last.fm/music/Hail+Spirit+Noir
Where to begin...Yeah, Pneuma is definitely evil sounding, but Christ almighty, is it ever a blast to listen to! Take some post- type riffs found in Nachtmystium's latest album Addicts, now make them catchier, with a bit more bounce, have those riffs drift in and out of some rockabilly-esque guitar work that sounds like it belongs in some cheap 1950's horror movie. Liking it? It gets better; throw some organ behind it a la Acid Witch, then give it some gritty recent Darkthrone type vocals, and you've got the general idea...Until the later half of the album kicks in, then you're looking at something closer to Opeth during their 70's prog rock worship moments.

Hate Inc. - Art of Suffering 9.00
http://www.reverbnation.com/thehateinc
Absolutely one of the most surprising and modern Italian bands. HATE INC.’s sound is a combination of Industrial metal of North-european descent mixed with American influences and with some rockish shades. An interesting mix of energy, anger, desperation and melody, all entwined with electronics. The most influencing band for Hate Inc.’s sound is Ministry, but also bands like Rammstein, Nine Inch Nails and Killing Joke. The album is produced by Victor Love (Dope Stars Inc.)!

Johann Wolfgang Pozoj - Birth of Pozoj 9.00
Johann Wolfgang Pozoj - Escape of Pozoj 9.00
Mystical black metal? - http://www.myspace.com/jwpozoj
“Escape of Pozoj” is unquestionably a black metal album, but it isn’t freezing cold and doesn’t always keep up an overbearing assault. There is a constant air of melody in the mayhem and an overall feel of mysticism. The blast beats don’t even make an appearance until the third track, and they are only used when it fits the sound, which shows the band isn’t particularly interested in sticking to an overused formula just because it’s expected of a black metal band.

Majestic Downfall - The Blood Dance (A5 Digibook) 9.00
http://www.facebook.com/majestic.downfall
The personal favourite of death/doom metal has been Australia's The Dead, with their slightly progressive take on the genre, but what Majestic Downfall presents on their latest offering is something more straightforward and emotional, and would perhaps please fans of bands such as Draconian. With the album opener The Blood Dance and the soothing acoustic guitars, it would almost trick listeners into thinking that this would be a light-hearted journey, but once the growls of band mastermind (and multi-instrumentalist) Jacobo and the heavy, crushing guitars come in, any such impressions are dispelled as the listener is instead brought on an emotional, almost heart-wrenching hour-long ride. The vocals of Jacobo alternates between a low growl and shouts, and he manages to display whatever sadness that is present, dragging out the syllables on the lyrics and injecting them with an almost desperate sense. At times, Jacobo also makes use of clean vocals on the album as backup vocals for his growls, and this helps in further bringing out the desolation in the music.

Negura Bunget - Poarta de Dincolo (mcd) 7.50
http://www.last.fm/music/Negura+Bunget
In general the new material finds the band in much the same mode, continuing their legacy as if the rift and lineup shifts had never occurred. Remaining is the textured poly-instrumentation, the naturalistic production treatment, the harsh, desperation-drenched vocals, and the multitude of blackened and atmospheric riff stylings. In fact, Poarta de Dincolo seems even more a product of the older days than Vîrstele Pamîntului. Whereas the latest full-length incorporated a few new elements into the band’s historic-folk-prog-black metal, as well as a more free-form compositional approach, the first three tracks of Poarta de Dincolo could easily be outtakes from either n’Crugu Bradului or OM.

Niobeth - Silvery Moonbeams 9.00
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=feFkgOlGHSg
Niobeth´s characteristic style put together powerful riffs and drums with an important melodic charge, great orchestration and lyrical voice, getting influences from several Metal genres (like thrash, progressive, gothic, power...) as well as from Classical Music (specially from Baroque and Romanticism) and, sometimes, from Folk. In their songs it´s usual to find passages of high elegance and with a lot of arrangements, sometimes with some theatricality."The perfect union between metal and classical music. The elegance and pulchritude of classical music hold hands with the strengh, heaviness and power of heavy metal inside of baroque and progressive structures that invite to discover new corners in every listen".

Phase Reverse - Phase Reverse 9.00
http://www.phasereverse.com/
The descriptions of this band all seem to be on the fence as to how they should be classified; in fact, the bio on their label’s website mentions “a perfect mix of Heaviness, Groove and Melody: not quite Metal, not quite Rock, but the best of both!” This is pretty accurate, much in the way a band like Temple of the Dog, Tantric, or Candlebox had a very groove-laden rock sound, with memorable melodic vocals but plenty of metal-tinged heaviness.

So Much For Nothing - Livsgnist 9.00
http://www.last.fm/music/So+Much+For+Nothing
The foundation for So Much For Nothing's music is in depressive black metal (in other words, there won't be very many blast beats or furious tremolo picking on this album), but the band doesn't stick to the conventions of the genre very often. Somewhat similarly to their fellow Scandinavians in Shining, So Much For Nothing does take the genre and run with it - the music on Livsgnist is very polished and well-produced, and there are enough progressive overtones to stand out from the rest of the crowd.

Stielas Storhett - Expulse 9.00
http://www.facebook.com/stielasstorhett?sk=wall
When was the last time you heard a new band that was tagged as depressive with actual riffs?

Story of Jade - The Damned Next Door thrash/horror metal 9.00
http://www.last.fm/music/Story+Of+Jade
Story Of Jade worked to create a mixture of Old School Heavy-Thrash, modern sound and Horrorific atmospheres with ironic lyrics. The album has been produced by Carlo Bellotti and Alessandro Paolucci, recorded at Westlink Recorders and mastered at Principal Studios in in Senden (Germany) by Vincent Sorg (Caliban, Grave Digger, In Extremo). The record includes the song featuring FLEGIAS from the metal legends NECRODEATH.

The Axis Of Perdition - Tenements (of the Anointed Flesh) 9.00
http://theaxisofperdition.bandcamp.com/
This latest release, Tenements (Of The Anointed Flesh) offers a twist on their black metal sound (cf. 'The Ichneumon Method (and other less welcome techniques)'), but also new innovations which give this album the very curiosities which will urge the listener to rediscover new, loathsome secrets embedded in the sound like a bot fly maggot in one's flesh. To begin with, it is as structured as The Axis of Perdition could ever make their music, which of course is entirely amorphous, however, it has 'hooks' and riffs which could be identified as 'verses' if you used your imagination. This may be down to the use of Dan Mullins on actual drums, rather than the drum programming of previous albums. On that issue, the drums create something unique in The Axis of Perdition, they can be used not only for time-keeping or providing a percussive background to the riffs at hand, but can take on a life of their own, like a machine with revolving gears coming to life with Mullins' rolling blastbeats.

Your Tomorrow Alone - Ordinary Lives 9.00
http://www.myspace.com/yourtomorrowalone
Their musical style, influenced by British Gothic/Doom metal of bands like Paradise Lost, Anathema, My Dying Bride, is enriched by progressive nuances that trace back to the 70’s rock scene, as well as reminding of the suspended and rarified and intimate atmospheres of bands like Opeth. "Ordinary Lives" signs a new step in the great tradition of the Italian Gothic Doom scene with great acts like Novembre, The Sun Of Weakness, En Declin. Just don’t be afraid to be enchanted by the pathos of these 9 gems of decadent sonorous beauty.

A Sound Of Thunder - Out of the Darkness CD €12.00
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FHwraOLYpXo
A Sound of Thunder delivers timeless metal with a focus on melodic, memorable songs with a "sardonic twist". Lead vocalist Nina Osegueda is a rare example of a metal frontwoman who delivers powerful, lung-busting performances more akin to Bruce Dickinson than Amy Lee. The band combines traditional heavy metal with elements of modern power metal, '60s and '70s blues based proto-metal combined with prog rock.

Dark Empire - From Refuge to Ruin €12.00
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OkJvISJLpoE
Dark Empire occupies an elusive space in the genre spectrum, being one of the most versatile crossover bands I can think of. Ultimately, From Refuge To Ruin is a metal record. Innovative and challenging, for sure, but saying no to those riffs and the passion with which they are played, is saying no to metal in general. For Fans of: Symphony X, Nevermore, Iced Earth, Evergrey.

Dillinger Escape Plan - s/t (digipack reissue) €8.00
http://www.myspace.com/dillingerescapeplan
The self-titled debut album from American mathcore band THE DILLINGER ESCAPE PLAN has been reissued by Earache Records. Originally released in 1997, the album immediately created a stir in both hardcore and metal circles with its intensity and technical approach, that blew their contemporaries away and helped create the Mathcore genre, a technically precise sound mixed with a wide range of influences from hardcore to jazz to metal and beyond just in case you were wondering, alongside the likes of Coalesce, Converge, Candiria and Botch!

Hemina - Synthetic CD €12.00
http://www.youtube.com/user/HeminaOfficial/videos
HEMINA are a unique voice in the ever-growing world of Progressive Metal. With a crystal-clear mix provided by Progressive Metal Veteran, Tommy Hansen at Jailhouse Studios, Denmark (Helloween, Circus Maximus, Redemption, Seventh Wonder, Jorn), the band deliver a dynamic and sumptuous adventure. For those who enjoy music that bears depth, emotion and passion. For fans of Dream Theater, Pain of Salvation, Ayreon, Yes, Devin Townsend, Genesis, Pink Floyd.
'Synthetic' is an eclectic journey of fresh and exploratory sound ranging from multi-part epics such as 'To Conceive a Plan' and 'Divine', to passionate ballads in 'For All Wrong Reasons', and hard hitting rockers like 'With What I See' and 'Haunting Me!'. The album presents itself as a 79+ three-dimensional adventure through segued tracks of varying dynamics.

De Lirium's Order - Veniversum CD 12.00
http://www.facebook.com/deliriumsorder
3rd album from this Finnish technical death metal outfit. Sharp as always, but not overproduced. Featuring new vocalist Kari Olli (of Pressure Points fame) plus two quest vocal contributions from Lars Eikind (of Before The Dawn fame).

Din Brad - Dor (digipack) 12.00
http://www.youtube.com/neguramusic
"Dor" uses traditional authentic Romanian folklore music as a way to capture forgotten times and feelings. Nature, hills and mountains, deep waters, blue skies, hidden forests, home, a spiritual presence, places where the soul feels free, alienation - these elements describe "Dor" as a unique Romanian feature.

Mesetiah - A Force To Recognize CD 9.00
http://www.myspace.com/mesetiah
"A Force To Recognize" is the sophomore effort from Finnish Death Metal band MESETIAH. Drawing on an old school influence of the 90s style, listeners will find this effort similar to the last: gritty and somewhat groovy. Traces of bands from INCANTATION for the low vocals and demo like production to give a bit of a live feel to the music all the way to the groove of SIX FEET UNDER are heard spread throughout this album, and with those influences come pros and cons.

Sol Invictus - Let Us Prey (2cd digipack) 14.90
http://www.last.fm/music/Sol+Invictus
‘Let Us Prey’ isn’t just another live album or another proof for the live qualities of Tony Wakeford and his musicians. This album – which was originally released back in 1992 and hasn’t been available for a long time – features the recording of an acoustic concert that was performed in London on April 4th, 1992. Apart from the original recordings, this re-release is customarily enhanced by a revised artwork, liner notes, and bonus tracks. The latter are featured on an exclusive bonus CD documenting yet another, previously unreleased Tony Wakeford performance in the legendary New York venue CBGB’s.

Sol Invictus - Cupid & Death (digipack) 12.00
Similar to ‘La Croix’, ‘Cupid & Death’ was originally released in 1996 as a solo album by Tony Wakeford. At Wakeford’s explicit request, this acoustic jewel is now re-released under the name of Sol Invictus and is thus made a part of the Neofolk legend’s oeuvre.

Teramaze - Anhedonia CD 12.00
http://www.reverbnation.com/teramaze
Something is brewing in Australia and its name is Teramaze and courtesy of Nightmare Records they have delivered a long awaited follow-up to their nearly forgotten releases of 1995 & 1997. A long and tumultuous journey it has been, but here is AnhedoniA. Part progressive; part thrash; part melodic; all heavy metal.
The songs are an amalgam of technical proficiency and heavy metal bombast. The melodies offered by Rerekura tie the tracks together, while adding an almost hypnotic atmosphere to the songs. Soaring with Acts of Reparation, plowing along through AnhedoniA or driving through Black Circles, these songs grab a hold and force you to simply engage. Where the Dead Grow offers another blending of power and subtlety, the melody is almost creamy.
AnhedoniA is an absolutely killer melodic progressive metal release.

New & restock

Agruss - Morok Digipack 10.00
http://www.reverbnation.com/agruss
The earth-shaking power of Agruss’s sound owes to its squelchingly multi-layered black metal guitar tones, the imposingly technical drumming, and most distinctively the dual vocals, which vie in repulsive fashion between horridly deep gurgle and ghastly scream. Morok is at times thuggishly simplistic, and at other points obtuse and abstract (see the slow-burning murk of 17 minute final track Under the Snow part III). It is thus a deeply multifaceted album that belies its status as a debut. If its freewheeling approach to composition makes it seem a youthful record, it is permeated by a gloomy atmosphere that would elude most funeral doom or DSBM veterans.

Akphaezya - Anthology IV Digipack 10.00
http://www.myspace.com/akphaezya
After listening to the new album by Akphaezya, I believe the term avant-garde metal pales in comparison to what these guys (and girl) have created. Not only do they blend jazz, folk, gothic, stoner etc. into a tasteful sound, but they also add a lively personality to their songs with a cast of different characters and a wide range of emotions. On top of that, the whole album is an ancient Greek theater play (don’t be mistaken, it’s a totally fresh plot created by Stephan, the guitarist), so most of the songs have Greek titles and also Nehl sings some famous ancient Greek quotes.
Highly recommended for fans of Diablo Swing Orchestra, UneXpect, System of a Down, Mastodon, Ephel Duath, Atrox, The Gathering, Stolen Babies etc.

Boothill Regulators - Degradation of the West CD 12.00
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nXSFOcAbCcM
Ennio Morricone has released loads of awesome music throughout the years, and so have Hank Williams and Slayer. Add these alongside with Social Distortion, Entombed, Johnny Cash and Danzig and you’ll get the mixture that is “Degragation of the West”. This is music for the fat guys and skinny girls as a tribute to guns, tattoos, westerns, hookers and black labels. This trip is free from tourists and screaming children. Enjoy your ride towards the land of the black gold.

Carnal Demise - S/T CD 12.00
http://www.myspace.com/carnaldemise
Debyytillään Carnal Demise tarjoilee omanlaista voimaa ja energiaa, joka ei vauhtia pelkää. Tältä kuulostaa lopun aikojen pulssi.
Carnal Demise on viiden miekkosen muodostama, vuonna 2007 perustettu kokoonpano Kuopiosta. Julkaisu nostettiin kuukauden demoksi mm. Imperiumissa, Miasmassa sekä Infernossa Aadolf Virtasen demopalstalla.

Insision - Beneath The Folds of Flesh CD 10.00
Insision - Ikon Digipack 10.00
http://www.reverbnation.com/insision
FRONTLINE FORCE OF SWEDISH BRUTAL DEATH METAL!

L'alba Di Morrigan - The Essence Remains CD 10.00
http://soundcloud.com/morrigansound
The band follows the great tradition of bands like A Perfect Circle, Katatonia, Anathema, Isis offering with their debut album "The Essence Remains" a wide range of emotions in some moments more refined and psichedelic, in others very aggressive. The great impact and evocative vocals, the dreaming progressive tones of the rhythmic session and the gracefull and powerfull at the same time sound of the guitars lines are the main elements of their wonderful artsitic expression. Featuring on "The Essence Remains" Frank Default (Katatonia and Bloodbath) as well as Helder Pedro for the art work (God Is An Astronaut, Callisto, and Jacob).

Llvme - Yia De Nuesu CD 10.00
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_bFrmutMHu8
Doom melodies of desperation, the epicity of Pagan Metal and the beauty of the traditional pagan Leonese Folk... this all is LLVME sound where typical Extreme Metal structures characterized by a strong Doom Metal background are enriched with the beauty of Celtic violins and bagpipes arrangements and by wondeful female vocals. You will find in Llvme a new way of playing extreme music, a new experience that could not leave you indifferent! It’s a must for all fans of My Dying Bride, Moonspell, Primordial and Doom Pagan Metal in general.

Levania - Parasynthesis CD 10.00
http://www.facebook.com/pages/Levania/79684453130
Their songs are based on several inspirations and influences: it’s not therefore a proper definition to label them as a pure "gothic metal" band. Perhaps Gothic-Epic-Death-Metal is a more appropriate definition for Levania music and composing style, although the Death Metal elements are not perhaps so in your face as one may expect from the above definition.

Morian - Ashen Empire CD 12.00
http://www.facebook.com/MorianOfficial
Vaikeuksien kautta voitoon on sanonta, jota toisinaan käytetään vähän liiankin lepsusti.
Ashen Empire on runnottu kasaan Aksu Hantun hellässä huomassa, jonka avustuksella levylle on luotu raikkaan painostava äänimaailma täynnä aitoa rock-röyhkeyttä. Sävellyksellisesti Morian vie kuulijan omalle lähes tavaramerkitylle polulleen, joka on valaistu särmikkäillä kertosäkeillä ja tappomelodioilla, aina metallista poppiin.

Napalm Death - Harmony Corruption Digipack 11.00
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GDsLk4AmHDU
Originally released in 1990, 'Harmony Corruption' took Napalm Death into a ore Death Metal direction and showcased the new line up of Mick Harris, Shane Embury, Mark 'Barney' Greenway, Jesse Pintado and Mitch Harris.
The digipak CD version of this release includes 14 bonus live songs recorded live at London's ICA in June 1990, including a Godflesh cover featuring a guest appearance from Justin Broadrick.

The Way of Purity - Crosscore CD 10.00
The Way of Purity - Biteback MCD 7.00
http://www.facebook.com/thewayofpurity
Militant Metalcore Terrorism.

Todtgelichter - Angst CD 10.00
http://www.facebook.com/Todtgelichter
