I noticed several issues with the lyrics for Aborym's "With No Human Intervention" album:

The instrumental tracks (Antichristian Codec, Does Not Compute, and Automatik Raveolution Aborym) all have the lyrics for Burzum's song Det Som Engang Var added onto them for some reason. Also, the lyrics for Faustian Spirit Of The Earth are incomplete. The lyrics for it can be viewed here:

http://www.darklyrics.com/lyrics/aborym ... ion.html#1

I've cross-checked them with the lyrics from the CD's actual booklet, so they're accurate. If someone could fix this problem it would be greatly appreciated.

few CDs arrived and I added a few lyrics...

I'd be so much more motivated if you got more than 1 point per album :/

When someone types down lyrics, I don't have anything against the page being updated after each song. It is much more work than copying them.

Hi! I'm completing the lyrics for the band Latzen http://www.metal-archives.com/band.php?id=1358 , and I have some doubts:

I have only left to finish the DVD of the album "Hellmuga"; one of the songs left is a medley of two of their songs. I am thinking of adding the part of lyrics from each song, is that ok? I say this because the CD version has just written "medley from the first demo" in the lyrics, which I think it's not complete.

The other song is a cover of another band, Kortatu. In the CD version of this album there's no mention to this in the tracklisting, and there's a "Originally performed by kortatu" in the lyrics instead. Should I put this as it's in the CD version, or copy only the lyrics, and then make a report to add "Cover of band Kortatu" in each track?

The last question, it's just to say that the formatting of the lyrics in the CD is non-existent, should I make a report after so the mods change it after, or maybe some veteran around here could do it?:P

EDIT: I couldn't make a link to the lyrics

gahhh you guys know the layout of the Equilibrium insert Sagas? The lyrics are all over the place. Anyone who knows what I mean will know why its being such a pain for me to add lyrics to Toxic Bonkers =.=

I'm considering adding lyrics for Satyricon's Dark Medieval Times album.
http://www.metal-archives.com/release.php?id=1308

But one of the tads of information states that the lyrics are a total mystery. Should I still add them?

If they are printed on booklet then I don't see any reason against it.
But if you find them on Internet do not add them...

Honestly, I believe the #1 reason for members not doing what you are is weak stimulation to do so. Adding lyrics from a booklet is very time-consuming, but worth only 1 point per album. Adding them one by one is considered point-whoring.

Couple of quick questions.

1) Has it been decided how to avoid it being point whoring for adding them "one at a time." I've just recently, joined, and looking for a way to participate, but I don't have a huge amount of time right now. Adding in lyrics to albums/songs that are missing them would be a good thing that I could do right now. For what it's worth, I'll say right now, I don't particularly care about my numbers at this point, but I don't want to get banned or penalized to the point where it's a mess to ever dig my way out of the hole.

2) What do we do about lyrics that are incorrect or incomplete. I've checked some songs that I know the lyrics to, and noticed that some are either very wrong, partially wrong, or have areas that are ????? for certain words or lines. I don't want to step on any toes, but in this case, can we correct or complete them, or should we do it a different way? (See below)

3) On the Melvins, it is stated in their description that "two sets of lyrics are available for most songs." This is quite true. Generally, its' two different interpretations that two separate groups tend to disagree only slightly within the group. These generally correlate to the camp of fans that think Buzz Osbourne only uses his voice as an instrument, and that the songs never or rarely have any meaning to the lyrics, and those who feel that the songs do have meaning, just that Buzz Osbourne tends to write in a very twisty manner to conceal a lot of it, and otherwise uses some pretty obscure symbolism. I've noticed that nearly all of the lyrics for the Melvins on your site are generally (when complete) from the former opinion/set. Would it be allowable to add the ones from the latter opinion/set as well. Also, would it be alright to put "-or-" in between the two sets, so that both sets can be preserved?

4) If a song appears on more than one album (i.e. on a live album, or on an EP appended to an LP) and only one album lists lyrics for it, is it allowable to add the lyrics for the other appearance? If so, must they be identical to the ones listed on the other appearance? If a live version has significantly different lyrics from the album version, can/should the live version of the lyrics be used for the live album?

Thanks very much

One simple answer for most of your questions - always add the lyrics from an official force - usually CD booklet, tape jacket or LP's inner sleeve, also from band's official website.

Do NOT add lyrics which somone tried to decipher just by listening to the songs. Such lyrics either has to be removed, or correct of you have the official ones.
You can, of course, reported wrong lyrics. That is nothing unusual.
That for 2 and 3

As for number 4, if the live version has the same lyrics, then add them.
If not and you have official source for the changed lyrics, then add the changed lyrics.

Okay, so what about the following situations, using the Melvins as an example:

1) I checked the lyrics for "Zodiac" from the Bullhead album. They are incorrect, incomplete, and have "????" for many of the lines. There has never been an offical listing of the lyrics to that song, but there are better versions on major sites which are more accurate than what is here. Would that be something that could be updated/corrected/whatever?

2) In general, what about bands who have never officially released their lyrics. The Melvins have only released official lyrics for one album (Ozma) and one song ("Hooch" from Houdini"), plus, debatably, for the album Stag. Eyehategod has never officially released their lyrics to any song, but lyrics are known and agreed upon for a at least few songs.

How would these be handled? Personally, I think that more or more accurate info is preferrable, to less, or less accurate info or none at all, but hey, not my site.

Or perhaps I'm just being too paranoid, and putting too much thought into it. Probably most would not have even bothered asking, but I don't want any trouble.

Thanks for your time

I remember there used to be a sentence in bold capital letters on Gorgoroth's additional notes saying something like: "Gorgoroth has never released official lyrics for any of their albums, so, do not add any lyrics". I guess the same rule works for all other bands in this website ;-)

Well Gorgoroth is a different story. They don't want anyone to publish their lyrics without authorization.

If anyone here has enough free time, here's the deal:
http://rapidshare.com/files/399623764/C ... n.rar.html
that is the archive containing some stuff that needs to be updated for Catholicon:
http://metal-archives.com/band.php?id=4336
First of all, there are PDF files with lyrics for most of their releases, maybe it's even possible to simply copy&paste them, I haven't tried.
Besides, there are some covers that need to be resized with something like Photoshop so that they will have less than 50 kB in size (those are covers for the demos, but also better quality cover for 2004 compilation, so you will need to have Veteran status to update that, or you can just write a report).
Also, there are the files with some info about releases, you may read them and add some info to the additional notes of the releases, but please don't re-type everything, only general information about recording, line-up etc.
Thanks

Yesterday, I tried to enter the lyrics for Woes side of the Woe/Infernal Stronghold split, but they didn't go through. Is there something I'm doing wrong?

Splits are buggy and don't update for non-veterans so use "Report a mistake or additional information for this page" and put the lyrics there.

Thanks

Fleshgod Apocalypse's Mafia EP is finished. I just added lyrics for "Conspiracy of Silence". I don't understand how updating them one by one would be point-whoring, since that took me a good 15 minutes for one song, while some person could add a link in seconds and get a point.

This is pretty much the only reason I'm not going to do Enforcer's new album; because I don't have time to go through every song and it wouldn't be smart to add lyrics for one or two tracks. Maybe I'll type it up in a word document and submit it later though.
