Stumbled onto this video a couple minutes ago, and was impressed. I checked into the band and it turns out they are a pretty boring metalcore band, however I thought this was a well crafted mix of some classical songs and sounded good. Any thoughts, or any other good classical songs remade by metal musicians.

Check out The Great Kat, as well as Manowar (notably Sting of the Bumblebee).

Mekong Delta has a couple of songs like that. The best one's probably "The Hut of Baba Yaga", originally by Mussorgsky.

Not quite classical music, but I always thought this would sound really cool remixed into metal of some sort (it's even in Eb minor).

Odd time signatures galore!

That was a pretty awesome link, OP.

Anyway, check out this Exmortus song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W4S71JO0Ywk, the bit starting at 1:06 is definitely a classical piece. Hell, the whole thing could be, I don't know.

Ah, excessive noodling is alive and well in the 21st Century!
Some thoughts:
Nice hat. Not.
Nice dick Tshirt. Your momma must be so proud.
Nice bare feets. What a statement.
These guys are "metalcore"? Is that a degrogatory statement? Sounds like 80s metal to me.
I like real classical music; JS Bach roolz! :)
Nice lights on the fretboard. Betcha chicks dig that.
Sorry to sound so negative; I'll give them props for the effort, but a pass on a second listen.

Disappointing. But noting that it was done (I assume) 25 years ago I'll give them a thumb's up for the attempt. Few, if any, tried to do classical covers back then. It was a less enlightened age I suspect.
For me, I've always really appreciated Wolf Hoffmann's classical approach while with Accept, and *especially* his solo album entitled 'Classical'; that is some good shit! :)

Nice! And I hate Opera! That soprano does an excellent job, sung in German no less. This from a Mexican woman I assume? My hat's off to her.
And checking the source on wikipedia those are some real metalâ„¢ lyrics as well!
Thanks for sharing that. Gracias amigo!

There's so many songs that would be amazing as metal covers. I know Therion did a Dvorak cover as seen here

It would be awesome to see a band like Meshuggah or Necrophagist who is already crazy with rhythms cover this. I could just see at 1:39 crazy sweep picking and the whole thing with chugs.

not quite fitting to the Topic but the BATHORY'S song (not album ;) ) "Hammerheart" on the TOTG album is just the music of Gustav Holst's "The Plantes", namely the song "Jupiter, just added by Quorthon's lyrics.

Holst "Jupiter": (the part Quorthon "stole" starts at 02:55)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nz0b4STz1lo

DAMN - that's really breathtaking, isn't it? (I mean Holst!)

I know - this is not exactly what was meant by the topic starter but I found it worth mentioning...

SAVATAGE's "Hall of the mountain king"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0LrQ2a7uZa4

with the original (of course) being from Grieg:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dRpzxKsSEZg

and HOLLENTHON's "Lord Of Bedlam":
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b8h58aLOfSo

with the original being "Montagues and Capulets" by Prokofiev

There's also the cover of Stravinski's Le Sacre du Printemps by Golem.

So powerful.

What's that interlude in Satyricon's 'Mother North'? Romeo and Juliet?

Same here,I think this is proof that they don't always suck. That exmortus song is incredible. I have to get my hands on their album

Nile covered Mars.

And Bathory. And Diamond Head. And presumably others.

Accept's Metal Heart uses not one but two classical samples.

Speaking of Holst's 'Jupiter- Bringer of Joy', Harvey Milk used the same in their track "Anvil Will Fall". Sadly, it's not worth checking out, but it deserves a mention.
