Anyone know any really good underrated bands out there? (Preferably ones with atleast one full-length album)
The bands i know at present that come into this description (epic/mystic death metal) would be:
Behemoth
Depresy
Septic Flesh
Garden of Shadows
Opeth

Those are the main few bands i know that im REALLY into...
Basically do any of you guys know any really good bands that you would refer to as EPIC DEATH METAL... Pretty much death metal with synth/keyboards and guttural vocals xD
Thanks :)

I haven't actually made it all the way through the album yet so I couldn't recommend it outright, but it sounds like Horrified's "In The Garden of Unearthly Delights" might be up your alley.

You might already know these bands, but try The Chasm, Edge of Sanity (from what I know Opeth was directly influenced by them) and Nocturnus (probably the first death metal band to use keyboard in their music).

I don't know if it's what your looking for but check out Dark lunacy's Forget me not. It's really melodic, they work with like 4 violin players but it doesn't compromise any of the brutality!

Hollenthon, they are a symphonic death metal band very epic. One of the best lesser know death metal bands.

The Monolith Deathcult's Trivmvirate is really really epic and good. Lots of keyboard and symphonic arrangements. It's also pretty brutal too.

You may also like Augury, not incredibly epic (though there are moments), but definitely pretty "out there" sounding.

I'm also going to second the Hollenthon rec.

You bastard I posted a thread like this already!!! lol just kidding. Umm, mystical sounding...man i keep droping this all over the place but Elvenking has a pseudo-irish/celtic feel that sort of is mystical. TYR seems mystical to me, but then again I'm a Norse mythology nerd...

Immolation - Unholy Cult

Not really mystical, but FUCK it's good! Some of the longer sounds like the title tracks is heavy as shit and quite epic.

I'm surprised Caducity hasn't even been mentioned yet. Their debut is the be-all and end-all of 'epic mystical death metal'

The first album I thought of was Lykathea Aflame - Elvenefris. Very brutal, but very melodic, with lots of interesting parts.

I'd recommend these:

Cenotaph (Mex) "The Gloomy Reflection Of Our Hidden Sorrows" - not really epic in the word's usual sense, but very solid and monolithic old school death metal with some doomy fragments.
The Chasm (Mex) - the entire discography. This is the band that perfectly fits the definition of epic death metal.
Horrified (Grc) "In The Garden Of The Unearthly Delights" - a really unique for its time Greek death metal album with a rather dismal atmosphere.
Septic Flesh (Grc) "Mystic Places Of Dawn" - see above.

I also just remembered Mithras. Not as epic as some of the other bands that have been mentioned, but mystical as hell.

In Mourning are of a similar style to Opeth, leaning a bit more to the melodic death side than Opeth do. They only have one full-length, and it's amazing. So get it.

Yep, nothing surpasses The Chasm. Cenotaph's Gloomy reflections is fucking awesome though.

Xanthochroid One of the best albums from the past year, worth a listen.

Cormorant Metazoa is one of the most amazing albums i ever heard.

Eternal Deformity Symphonic twist with huge progressive influences. Unique band, sadly underated as all their albums are top notch.
