Hi, I'm searching for any album or band that has a sound similar to Profanatica's "Profanatitas De Domonatia", kind of bassy black metal.
Thanks.

I'm in a coffin - one final action. bass is pretty much the lead instrument, the guitars are more of a background thing. check it out. its good stuff.

Though, Deathcrush features a much more prominent bass in the mix!

Transilvanian Hunger also, it has one of the cleanest basses I've heard on black metal.

Greek black metal typically has great bass presence.
Rotting Christ, Varathron and Zemial in particular. Hell, Necromantia is all bass [they use an 8-string bass in lieu of a guitar, other than for solos].

Mortuary Drape from Italy actually used two bassists and two guitarists on their Tolling 13 Knell album.

Then of course there's the entire Western Canadian scene, which is equal parts death and black metal.

Among the more 'traditional' BM bands, Carpathian Forest [particularly their first 3 full lengths] all have very full bass presence.

I agree. Transilvanian Hunger is a perfect example on how to use bass guitars in black metal. It makes the music so much more mesmerizing.

Behemoth's And The Forests Dream Eternally has a very audible bass.

I was getting ready to recommend these.

Previous post is correct. Carpathian's forest first three albums have alot of bass. In particular, their first album 'Black Shining Leather' has the bass so loud, it's on par/leveled with the guitars.

Yes they did, but they scavenged them from animals that had died naturally. "Viking" is actually an archaic word for "Vegan".

I'm sure there was just a post about this and a lot of responses in the black metal help thread.

Anyway, you should definitely check out Verdunkeln from Germany. Absolutely brilliant band and they play a style of black metal that is very bass-driven. The track In Die Irre has one of the best, and yet simplest, bass lines I've ever heard. Genius.

Mgla from Poland is also has quite an audible bass sound. Same goes for Strid.

Check out Shrum, its all bass. There is no guitarist, just 2 bassists. They're kind of psychadelic black metal though, a little trippy, but they're awesome, and obviously quite bass heavy

There're a thousand bm bands using bass more than RC, and you did mention RC? I agree with you about Zemial and Varathron, but RC.

Mate, have a look here: http://www.metal-archives.com/board/vie ... start=4120 . Another guy asked the same thing, and the suggested bands are more than enough.

I'll say it again: Ride For Revenge. No electric guitar.

Also, if you live under some kind of rock then I'd suggest you give Beherit's Drawing Down The Moon and Sigh's Scorn Defeat a listen... and then I'd ask how in the hell you managed to get internet connection...

Hehehe that was me!
Krallice DEFINITELY has ALOT of bass in it. Very good band.
Aaskereia [a band I practically worship] has some great audible bass.
I'd give you a youtube link, but I'm at school, so...

Check out Aaskereia's song "Hexensabbat", and you will LOVE it!

Forgotten Woods has quite a bit of bass as well. Melencolia Estatica should be thrown in there as well.

Furze is a musical genius, and has quite a bit of bass in his releases. Check out Necromanzee Cogent :)

LLN one-off side project Dzlvarv are one of the more unique bands from that circle. They were very prominent in the bass section, as well as being rather oppressive and musty in their atmosphere. Everything is audible if you bother getting used to typical LLN production jobs - though Dzlvarv's production is remarkably clear for an LLN band if you ask me.

There's a pretty bassy sound in Borknagar's "Quintessence", although that might not be black metal in the strictest sense of the term. Worth a shot in my opinion, however.

When I think of black metal with well performed bass I think of Taake's "Nattestid Ser Porten Vid". This album has been labeled "Technical Black Metal" in the past and still recently, but I feel like I've haven't heard near as good bass used throughout an entire album until Mgla. Nattestid Ser Porten Vid IV, the instrumental off said album. God is the track so f!cking powerful, the bass is implemented in such a way that just compliments and stands out at the same time from the rest of the music. I can not recommend anything else other than "Further Down the Nest" or "Groza" by Mgla in terms of Bass for Black Metal, although there is plenty out there, this is the first that comes to mind.

Hehe. Can't get enough of this, eh? :P
Seriously. GREAT!!!
I completely worship the band, and I would die for this song, if there was any reason worth dying over the song.

Ulver's Bergtatt has the bass fairly high up in the mix. It's not all that independent but it adds a lot to the whole vibe of that album in my opinion.

Agalloch's Pale Folklore (fine, not exactly black metal, but still) has amazing usage of the bass that fits in perfectly with the great production of that album.

Also Drudkh, despite their unique production values has some interesting bass work on some of their albums.

I haven't listened to much Rotting Christ, unfortunately...
but Thy Mighty Contract has a shitload of great bass in there.
