Century Media Records has set a May 19 North American release date for the new album from Norwegian melodic black metal masters OLD MAN'S CHILD, entitled "Slaves Of The World". The band, which is led by guitarist/vocalist Galder (also in DIMMU BORGIR), recorded the CD last fall at Studio Fredman in Gothenburg, Sweden with producer Fredrik Nordström (DIMMU BORGIR, ARCH ENEMY, IN FLAMES, etc.), who had previously worked with the band on the "In Defiance Of Existence" (2003) and "Vermin" (2005) albums. The nine-song effort features Peter Wildoer (DARKANE, PESTILENCE) on drums.

Finally!!! OMC is a band I've always enjoyed greatly.

The only album I've heard of theirs is The Pagan Prosperity and I thought it was terrible. How does their newer stuff sound compared to that?

In Definance of Existence and Vermin are both excellent, in my opinion. I'm not a fan of their earlier work either.

I thought In Defiance of Existance was far to similar to Dimmu Borgir's Puritanical sound and beyond. As for Vermin I still don't have the patience to listen to the album end to end, I wind up getting bored.

So as far as a new record, I know I'll hear it hopefully I can get through it.

Old Mans Child is one of the bands that got me into Black Metal, so I am very much looking foward to this.

I have In Defiance of Existence and The Pagan Prosperity, both good albums, especially the latter, so I can say that this new album sparks a certain amount of interest in me. There are other priorities though.

The only release of theirs I have so far is 'Vermin' but I loved the hell out of it, so I can't wait for this.

Well I enjoyed their first album a lot. The second album The Pagan Prosperity was alright and I haven't really checked out anything beyond that. I guess now would probably be good time to do so.

About damn time Galder got off his ass and did something with OMC.

He has been. Galder stated on the OMC website that "this is the album I have spent the most time on."

I routinely spin In Defiance of Existence and Vermin and I'm hoping this is just as good or better. I'm not a fan of the pre-2003 albums either, so to me this is like OMC's third release.

I have Vermin somewhere in my CD collection, it's been ages since I last listened to it. I remember enjoying it for a bit but didn't think of it as anything special really, guess I'll check this new one out as well.

I can't help but to get my hopes up every time some band I've enjoyed a few releases from is about to release something new. Although I couldn't stand Vermin, and thought "In defiance..." was mediocre at best, I really enjoyed their (his) mid-era material. I really shouldn't expect much, but just like with Ajattara, I somehow keep my hopes up. Well, maybe... just maybe... (damn, there I go again)

I find it interesting that Old Man's Child gets heaps more repsect than Dimmu Borgir. Sure, I like my Galder a little less reigned in, but they're not that far removed from each other (in terms of "metal"-ness), I think so anyway. I'm sure my brother will get this, I'll listen to his copy before I buyt it....

Probably because OMC never had to fall as far as Dimmu Borgir in terms of selling out to commercial interest. Also because Old Man's Child doesn't have the same level of popularity.
