Recently received somewhere in the area of 300 cds from a friend of mine, and a number of them are from a label called Fierce Records, which seems to be based out of New York.
Thing is, the quality of these releases are often suspect. For example, My Dying Bride's 'The Angel and the Dark River' lists The Sexuality of Bereavement as the seventh track on the disc, when in fact there are only six tracks on the disc. I am aware that The Sexuality of Bereavement was a bonus track on re-releases, but the only appearance it makes here is on the back jewel case insert; the booklet makes no mention of it.
There's a couple of other little quirks, but nothing as noticeable as that (stuff I've seen on other, definitely legit releases).

My question to the knowing ones out there then: Is Fierce a legitimate label/distro, or am I in possession of a shitload of bootlegs?

Yes, they are, actually were legit. They were a distributor for Peaceville Records in the U.S. That's why you see CD's from My Dying Bride, Anathema, etc floating around. I do know that they had a couple of misprints, etc from time to time.

I'm not sure if they will be valuable, unless there is a rarity, or something.

Hope this helps!

Fierce Recordings was a sub-label of Mayhem Records based out of NYC which closed down in 1999.

They were basically the US offices for Music For Nations, and then Peaceville Records....
