I wonder if it will sell out by the end of 2009.

My copy is here.

The kick drum sounds a tad weird.

My two copies of the Metalbolic Vol. 2 sampler came in today! The Cosmic Atrophy song "Cydonic Adulations" appears on here at track number 6. I think Metalbolic gives out this sampler for free with any purchase. Sorry for the shitty pictures.

I'm not entirely sure, you could email Rob and ask him about it. I'm sure he could hook you up with a copy of it if you explain to him what zine you run.

By the way, did you ever get the package I sent?

Dunno... I've been listening to it for a while and something bugs me, but I can't verbalize it properly. It seems to be really tight and in-your-face as opposed to the distant and reverberated snare. This is especially evident during the some faster kick drum bits (beginning of the first song, for example).

Anyway, this is nowhere near the abhorrence of Morbid Angel on Gateways, where the kick sounds like one sample without any humanizing effects. But it does distract me.

Hm, I just applied a room-mic ambience on everything. It's possible that the kick didn't get picked up as much.

Anyway, a lot of these little production "errors" are being consciouly worked on for the next one. Already I've got a pretty good sound for the new stuff. I'll send it to you sometime. (it's not very representative of the teaser I put on myspace; I've fixed the mix on that one even further)

Hmm... Well, I've given this a long wait to see if I could let it sink in. I've been in a more relaxed mood when it comes to music lately. Regardless, I've given the teaser track a bunch of listens and it's definitely a progression from Codex Incubo. As caspian said though, it does seem to be lacking something. Everything's really well done and there are some great riffs in there, but I still feel like it's missing something that ties it all together. Maybe a bit more aggressive riffing?

Your vocal performance is even better now, by the way. It seems more diversified, and for some reason you sound like Karl Sanders when you say "Gods". :P

Ah well, the whole album will be colored with all sorts of different things. Maybe this specific song just doesn't give the full package just yet, but since this is going to be a concept album, perhaps the listening experience will come full circle when the entire thing is played.

The track on the myspace page isn't even a final mix or production by the way; the end product is sounding much heavier and crunchy.

Oh yeah, that's primarily why I'm not being all that hard on this. I feel like it would work very well as part of a larger work, and obviously a teaser isn't going to have the best production. It's still a good song as it is now, so I'm still looking forward to the next album. Keep up the good work! :D

Hmm pretty good album. It's pretty consistent overall, but there aren't enough "ZOMG" moments on the album, if you know what I mean. The consistency makes up for it, though.

Also, the drums sound a little strange to me. The sequencing is excellent, and you probably put a lot of effort into it, but they sound a little hollow. The hollow-ness isn't the problem, the problem is that the drums sound thick/fat and at the same time they sound hollow, and the drum sound tends to be a little distracting at times.

I'd probably give it something in the 80-85 range (on a scale of 100).

Just arrived in the post. Sounding great!! The songs are really well written. I think the vocals suit it perfectly too, unlike some other users on the board.

My one main criticism: Guitars are not thick enough.

Got Codex Incubo a couple of weeks ago. I like the dissonant riffing you all use alot which should be seen in music more (especially on Doomed by the Cancer Domus its fucking beast), and unlike some others I am satisfied with the guitar sound (ie thickness/heaviness). My only complaint is that the vocals sound alot weaker than they could be except for the chant-sounding ones which are a nice and rather original touch.

Question though, were the drums acoustic or programmed?

Having given my copy a lot of listens, I'd say it's a great record but with a few problems. Nihq has a point with the kick drum, for one (though that's minor). I'd say you just concentrated a bit too hard on making it all really perfect. It's a really well written album; great riffs and songwriting, but it's all a bit sterile. The guitars a bit/way too tight, the vocals never really violent enough. I know you like your production clean, and that's fine. But some slightly thicker, less tight-as-all-fuck guitar playing and some acoustic drums (or some rawer sounding drum samples) would give it a lot more atmosphere and turn it from "great record" into "total classic". It has a sort of "session player" vibe to it. I'll do a review sometime this week, I think.

I uploaded all of the songs from Codex Incubo on my YouTube page, here: http://www.youtube.com/user/rexxz99

If you want to show your friends the whole album just point them to this page for a little preview.
