They're ALMOST inevitable, going to shows and being relentless in trying to meet some of your favorite icons. But then again, some experiences aren't always so pleasant, and some downright funny. I'll share one story a buddy of mine told me. Well years and years ago, he was at some club where megadeth was going to be playing, and while he was sitting at the bar getting wasted, someone grabbed his shirt from behind and yanked him with all their might backwards, dropping his ass to the floor with the words "nice shirt, asshole". And who does he confusedly look up and and see walking away? None other than Ol' Dave, stomping off down the hall in a huff because he didn't like the metallica shirt he was sporting. Always leave it up to Dave to be a mature, non whining guy about something eh?

That's really sad that Dave would knock someone down over their shirt. :nono:

I found it amusing when I went to see Obituary and Unleashed on their most recent tour, where Ralph Santolla has now joined with Obituary. And my friend and I always get to shows earlier than most, like 2 hours early so we can be first in (and get best spot on the rail) and get to meet people. Well we were standing there and noticed some guy stumbling around mumbling to himself.

My friend then yells, "Holy shit is that Ralph Santolla?!" He turns around and says, "It's SantAlla" or however it's properly pronounced and walks away. I found that quite amusing.

Later on we see him right before the show starts and chat for like 15 minutes and him going on and on about how much he hates Glen Benton. Just him talking about that was fucking hilarious, and a bit uncomfortable.

Another was during Into Eternity's opening set for Symphony X and they were having some technical difficulties between songs. The singer was pacing around, then jumps up and yells, "Alright this next song is called..!" the guitarist yells, "wait wait, not ready yet!" the singer's finishes off his sentence with "....Nothing!"

I looked over to my friend and kinda chuckled saying "they're not Meshuggah!" well, from being so close on the rail and it being dead silent, the singer heard me and got pissed off. He jumped over at me yelling, "Of course we're not Meshuggah motherfucker, we're motherfucking Into Eternity from Canada dammit, and don't forget that!"

I was kinda surprised, since I meant it as a joke.

Did your friend kick his ass? If not, he should've. Him being Dave Mustaine would've justified violence in response to such an action and his overall cocky arrogance.

Glen is another big douchebag in metal. So I can see how his bandmates would detest him so. That's probably why Santolla left the band the first time.

Nah, he was wasted and probably too messed up to think that quickly before dave was out of sight. Would of been cool if he did though haha.

What a piece of shit he is (Dave). Your friend, a fan, pays money to see his shitty-ass band who hasn't put out anything good since Rust in Peace and he violently hurls him down to the ground like that. Honestly, man...your story is more enraging than humourous. What a shitty, low thing to do to a fan.

Hey, at least Dave Mustaine touched him AND spoke to him. He should feel honoured.

(This post is half serious and half sarcasm. I can't decide which.)

I was with one of my friends at Emperor, and he was remarking at the "horribly obese excuses of women" that were at the show. Two fat goth girls clad in latex that overheard him squished him in the moshpit. It was hysterical. These 2 chicks were so fat that they sandwiched my poor friend, and he was traumatized for the rest of the day.

When I went to Gigantour (when Their Back To The Basics: Greatest Hits came out) we got to meet dave and get our c-d signed. Well I was standing behind a guy wearing a bootleg Megadeth shirt that he bought from a vendor outside the arena. Dave Mustain spotted it and had that guy step out of line so he could find the vendor.

Also I went to see Beneath The Massacre, Gojira, Job For A Cowboy, Behemoth. When JFAC played there was some kid throwing stuff at them and yelling at them. Their bass player spat a huge loogie from the opposite side of the stage and nailed the kid in his face. It was the greatest thing.

When I saw Iron Maiden, everyone was getting worked up after Lauren Harris finished her set. We all thought Maiden would be up next, so when the lights went out and people started moving around on stage we were expecting something great.

Unfortunately, it turned out that there was a second opening act, a whinecore band. The guitarists start playing and the singer grabs the mic, comes walking up to the front of the stage and introduces them;

"Brisbane, we are Behind Crimson Eyes!"

And is promptly hit by a thrown food item.

What the fuck is that? It's praise like this that gives assholes like Dave their delusional arrogance.

Yeah Dave was kind of lame to do that, I know he hates Metallica but shit...calm down?
I wouldn't say that all their music after Rust in Peace is bad though.

Speaking of MegaFag, my friend told me of how Dave threw his guitar at the tech guy and stormed off stage like a little pussy for 20 minutes before returning. This was at Gigantour...a tour HE organized. Way to sabotage your own show, Dave.

His most asshole-a-rific moment is still when he booted Rotting Christ from a tour after turning Christian.

When I saw Candlemass in May, I decided to be a dork and shouted "SEEDS OF THE DESOLATE!" after the second song. Rob just smiled at me, turned away, and went into the next song. It was pretty cool.

But nothing beats seeing Matt Heafy get spat on at a Trivium concert (it was 3 years ago, they were the opener). Heafy interrupts one of their songs, cant remember because they are all identical to me, and goes up to the mic and asks "Alright...WHO THE FUCK JUST SPIT ON ME?". About 20 people in the front, myself included, raised their hands as the princess tried to play the tuffguy card. Classic.

I have a good story, but it doesn't have anything to do with any musicians, per say. Is that type of story going to be accepted in this thread?

Doing either of those is bad, but doing both is just plain douchey.

I went to a recent Sunn O))) show here in NYC and when you hear Sunn O))) + NYC, it's inevitable that there will be nauseating hipsters there.

When Sunn O))) put on their performance of the whole Grimm Robes Demo, this one stupid ass hipster dude was fucking drunk, trying to make his way through the already packed crowd in the small Knitting Factory venue to get to the bar which I was near. It was safe to say that everyone near that bar where I was had enough of his constant pushing through the crowd just to get more booze.

So he was the idiot of this night everyone pushed around while he was fucking drunk. And he was the only idiot who crowd surfed to Sunn O)))... who the fuck would've thought? So Greg Andernson of Sunn O))) noticed this dude like a sore thumb as the drunk hipster made his way towards the stage.

He made it on stage, knelling down in front of Greg as he was playing. I think he was bowing at him like he was a God. Greg had an Italian wine bottle he drank from all night while playing, so with the rest of his wine, he poured that shit on the hipster's head (and it was a lot!), then literally kicked him in the face, making him fall back into the crowd. That shit was classic; we the crowd laughed and cheered for like a minute when Greg did that because it was well deserved... not to mention fucking random.

Afraid their will be no Dave bashing, but the story will make up for it. :P

When my dad and I went to the Metal Masters tour date in Albuquerque this year, there was this drunk/Mexican/balding type dude who had been flipping Halford off the entire JP set. Then towards the middle of their set, he started yelling “faggot” and “homo” and dumb unnecessary shit like that. Surely this behavior is plausible for some deranged dumb 19 year old to say, but a guy in his late 40s?

During Priest’s first encore, I threw my cup of Sprite on him. I wasn’t about to pick a fight with this dude, but I was a little pissed at the time. He reaches out to shake my hand and me, being the gullible dumbass, reach my hand for his. He then attempts to pull me down 2 rows into his row, but I wasn’t going anywhere. This guy was only like 5′5″. Then I guess he had this guy who might have been his brother, who threatened to “kill that fucking kid!” Then there was the original guy’s daughter, who said something to the extent of, “Don’t mind him. I’m a lesbian and he’s just messing with me.” This 13 year old (or so) girl!

Then security came and we explained what had happened. The guards had cited with us. They got their just in time as my dad was about to rush the gangly looking fucker.

We were then escorted back a few rows because I had started the entire confrontation on the wrong encore. But we got to see the last song, and then we high tailed it the fuck back to our car! We weren’t about to get a family of Mexican dudes after us.

Overall, the concert was the best 5 hours of my life, but that last 20 minutes was insane.

Thats funny because when I saw them, he corrected me as well (and was obviously blitzed).
I asked him to sign my Obituary patch and my Deicide patch, which has a picture of Glen's face, and he took his sharpie and was like "Fuck yeah, I'll sign it right across that fuckers face!"

A friend of mine went to see 1349 a year or 2 ago. Goatwhore was opening for them.

Before the show, he was at a burger place thats not too far from the venue. He went to the bathroom and while he is there, another guy walks in and uses the urinal next to him.

Show time, and Goatwhore takes their places, and who is behind the mic? none other than the urinal guy. So my friend yells "Hey man! I pissed next to you" The guy looks at him and laughs.

About a year ago I was at this Enslaved show and one of the opening bands was a really, really shitty metalcore band called The Agonist, from Montreal, who were so bad that the few people who were actually in the venue at the time basically ignored them. The few of us who were in the front row had our backs towards the band, leaning against the stage. Their singer (a weird-looking chick) also kind of smells.

Another funny show I've been to was a Blinded By Faith/Neuraxis show in Québec where one of the opening bands, a shitty thrash metal band from Québec called Reanimator, had band members who were too fucking drunk to actually play anything. The singer went berserk and jumped in the crowd to headbang, losing his mic in the process, which shortly thereafter ended up in MY hands for some inexplicable reason while their guitar player slammed his guitar against the ground so hard that he broke it and jumped in the crowd with such retarded zeal that he managed to kick me in the back of the head while doing it.

The band members then accused everyone at the venue of being poseurs for a reason which I've forgotten, probably because it was far too idiotic to remember.

When I saw Maiden in Sydney, I was with my friend and his brother, and we only had seating, so weren't in a rush to bet there. It was funny because my friends brother said "let's go in", and as he's walking in, we hear "This is Behind Crimson eyes!", and he promptly just turned around and walked out. It's not that funny when typed, but when it happened it was all just perfectly timed.

Yeah, picture a big drunk bald guy wearing boots and corpsepaint (they're a thrash metal band so it's a wtf moment but anyway) in mid-air with his limbs in random directions and you'll get a pretty good picture of what happened.

That's awesome! Dave Mustaine rules.

A funny thing that happened to me was when I was at MCF 2008 and who should I run into on the campground but Bobby "Blitz" Ellsworth from Overkill. He was standing outside his tent and I thought to myself..."I know that guy from somewhere...but where..." As I walked away I thought again "That's Bobby Blitz!" I ran inside his tent and was like "Holy shit you're Bobby Blitz". He started laughing and I hung out with him for a few minutes. I started singing an Overkill song and he thought that was funny. I don't remember what else happened since we were both drunk but it was surely a funny thing.

As a HUGE fan of Overkill, it was one of the most amazing moments in my life.

A lot of good ones at the Turisas show here in Iowa City a few days ago.

It was between songs, and the lead singer looks at a guy in the front of the crowd who had copied their whole warpaint-thing. He said something along the lines of "Nice warpaint, how'd you put it on?" To which the guy responds "Eh, just some Popsicle sticks outside." To which the singer responds "Ah, this shit I'm using is coming off already, soon our heavily guarded identities will revealed! We're rockstars here in Iowa City, we can't be walking around all unmasked..."

Or earlier in the show, when he looks over at the beer that was set up for them on the stage. "Let's see, what have we got here...Lein-en-kuegel's...you know, I think that' German for small cock." He takes a sip. "Tastes like warm piss. You guys make this here?" Everyone shouts "No, it's from Wisconsin!" to which he responds "Ah, no wonder it sucks..." Eventually, someone in the crowd handed him a shot of vodka, which he downed happily before launching into the next song. He also ended up taking a few swigs out of whatever was in a little canteen that the warpaint-guy in the crowd had bought.

In short, that was an awesome night.

Was it Ben Falgoust (long hair, from Soilent Green) or Sammy Duet (bald, goatee, from Acid Bath)?

I was at a Municipal Waste show. The singer, Tony Foresta, chose the most fat guy in the pit, and he was truly obese. He let him go on the stage, they made him drink some beer and then they told the guy to dive.

The obese guy dove and the first row disappeared.

When Unearthly Trance played up in Newcastle, some drunk wanker (probably wandered in off the street) jumped up on stage and started dancing about. He was then swiftly booted (literally) off the stage by the guitarist before being hauled out by security. A good laugh was had by all.

It was mostly the amount of flailing he did while falling off the 2 foot high stage that made us laugh, coupled by the totally non-chalant manner in which he was kicked off stage, not a note was missed.
